Another great song with amazing lyrics, urging me cry over the torn spirit of this lonely Elf who gets crushed by his burdens. I soooo hope he gets a happy end (in which not all of Thedas gets destroyed), he deserves it. TBH I like this even mor than the other song you made about Fen'Harel and the player. Guess you perfectly summarized Solas' inner war and the music accompanies this perfectly. the way it shifts from the almost happy flute (reminding me somehow of a little, happy bird flapping its wings - representing the little free love) to a more somber and sad tone (representing his 'duty') - simply amazing. It's so sad that a wish as simple as 'having a happy love' is too much to ask for Solas. He neither asked nor searched for this breeze of a happy life with his loved one, but he found her nonetheless and now has to leave her in order to do what he believes must, possibly even killing her in the process. ;( I hope destiny will be kind to him, during the following events in Veilguard and he gets a happy ending somehow. :(

@SeidrSkald I was replaying the game and realized that the inquisitor doesn't mention family members, just the clan in general. We know that a spirit can take mortal form, like Cole and Solas. Cole's offhand comment to both Solas and the inquisitor, that they too will need an amulet had me thinking.. What if the inquisitor was also a spirit in mortal form.

I know from a comment thread that you plan for a Warden/Morrigan song eventually, but is Warden/Alistair on your mind as well? You get the happier ending with Alistair and his Cousland Queen, and you can play around with the theme of “tragedy may effect my past but it brought me to you.” And the theme works both ways, with Cousland losing her family and Alistair having a horrible childhood.
It might. I have several different ideas that I am working on, and something with Alistair and the Hero of Ferelden will definitely happen. I'm just not sure I want to make yet another love song. I've made quite a few by now. But there will be something Alistair-related in the near future.

@@SeidrSkald I don't know know about the lyrics as I'm not a songwriter myself, but I *might* be able to help with the theme. First off, I'd say the "I love you, but you left me" bit isn't the full story of this relationship. While their are similar aspects, the romance with Morrigan is not a 1-to-1 of the romance with Solas. She does leave by the end of the base game, but the addition of the Witch Hunt DLC for Dragon Age: Origins does give one the opportunity to forgive Morrigan and join her in exile to raise the child she and the Warden conceived. So, maybe the theme would be along the lines of love found, then lost, then found again? Also, we need to keep in mind what kind of person Morrigan was before she embraced her love for the Warden. When you first meet her and throughout much of the story, she's rather cold and callous mostly due to her childhood with Flemeth. She doesn't really bond with members of the party, isolates herself from them at camp, and sometimes ridicules people who are asking for help. And though the Warden manages to genuinely gain Morrigan's trust after doing her a favor, their relationship starts off as flirtatious. They may have some passionate moments, but it's really more for the thrill of it if nothing else. It isn't until later in the romance that she starts to pull away because of her intended task of claiming the Old God's soul from the Blight and preserving it in the body of her child. Falling in love was never part of the plan. In this way, the conflict between love and duty mirrors that of Solas, if only slightly. It isn't until we see her again in Inquisition with her son (assuming you choose this route) that we see her demeanor change. She still maintains an air of cunning and confidence, and still has her own agenda, but she's not nearly as cruel. And though Morrigan had plans for her son, she cast them aside because she loved him and didn't want that kind of life for him. A bit of a mouthful, I know, and you probably know a good chunk of this information, but you asked for help 😅. Seriously though, outside of Lavellan and Solas, this is one of my favorite ship. Happy to lend a hand to a talented artist. If you need more info, no matter how major or minor, feel free to ask.

I need to do some research, and play some DA O as a male Warden so I can experience her from that point of view so I can capture the relationship better, but she is definitely on my list of characters I want to make songs for.
