The Joy numbed the pain, it didn't cause it. The abuse he suffered, his lonliness, the death of his sister... All contributing factors to making him the man he was. Yet he still locked her up, he still suffocated her with his desperate attempts to keep her safe against all sanity. Trauma is handed down: from his dad, to Brad, and now to Buddy. 10:13 this moment made me feel more sad for Brad than terrified and disgusted at his existence as a mutant lmao. He still feels pain, even as a mutant who has all of his physical pain technically numbed. :(
OK, these endings may require some explaining. The "leave them" ending is Buddy taking the vaccine, and sheperding a new age for humankind. It may be the "good" ending, but is also the saddest, for Buddy alone is bound to have children over and over and over, and protect them with the help of the joy mutants. She wouldn't trust anybody with her children, and thus, she's fated to a life of loneliness and self-sacrifice. Such as it is, it's no surprise she would rather "join them". So, the "join them" ending isn't as harsh as you may think. Sure, our hero is a nightmarish mutant, she murdered the fuck out of the mutant Brad, and brings Rando's corpse wherever she goes. So... Why did she do all that? Was it all because of being an irrational monster? Well, the behaviour of the joy mutants is somewhat a mistery, but we can confer that they are beings of instinct. They attack when they feel menaced, they don't eat (as inferred by some mutants not even having mouths), they just want to be left alone, for the most part. In fact, many joy mutants are found in the most inhospitable places. Take Charmy, for instance, he's in a playground surrounded by venomous snakes. Henry Wyatt is at the bottom of a pretty long and dark cave. Beady is just chillin' in the bath house. Punkert, pressumably the first joy mutant you may find, is oblivious of your presence until you get close. And yes, Cooper, Blue, and Peter (who actually ambushes your party), among others, were surrounded by corpses, thus posing the possibility that maybe they aren't as peaceful as I picture them. Truth is they aren't peaceful creatures, but in most cases of violence, they were trapped with or attacked by the people they killed, nearby other people when they turned, or people were around their territory. So if we take what Blue says before he mutates (something about having "violent, intimate thoughts" as foreshadowing of his transformation), then we can safely assume that joy mutants have violent tendencies, but my guess is that the mutant's behaviour changes based on the ambient the individual was living in, their most profound fears and desires, and the nature of the person. The biggest example of this is Brad, that, when turned, wouldn't attack Buddy, not even when attacked by her, instead looking to be at her side and maybe even protect her. This is crucial to determine what kind of mutant would Buddy be: she killed mutant Brad because, by giving herself to her instincts and passions, couldn't help but hate him for being so protective. Hate him for holding her back, and locking her up her entire life. So she killed her last obstacle in her wake, in her rise to power, so she can take her rightful place as the strongest, most powerful being in the world, so nobody would dare to think they can own her for being a girl, so nobody would mess with her ever again. She brings Rando's corpse everywhere so she can keep indulging herself in his words about her being a queen, a god. Austin Jorgensen confirmed that Buddy had a Messiah complex, so the fact that she has a devoted follower in Rando, even if only a hallucination, helps her live her power fantasy, even if turned into a monster in the end. There's actually a variation on the "Join them" ending, where Buddy, made a mutant, holds a baby. Wether she cares for them or not is up to debate, but what's clear is that she's non-violent towards them. You get this little twist if you decide to drop Rando instead of holding on to him, which has many wondering "when the hell did Buddy got pregnant, and why doesn't she have the baby when she doesn't let Rando fall?". That terrain is full of speculation, and writing it all would be taxing as all hell, but what does this baby cradling mean? Well, it means that Buddy is not an irrational monster. It means that even if she "joined them" out of a selfish and fucked up way to look for a joyful ending to her crusade (see what I did there?), she still believes, even as a mutant, that the world needs her for what she is, and not for what she's become. She still holds to a sense of responsibility, and maybe, even as a mutant, she can herald a rebirth for humanity.
The irony of her becoming a mutant is that she is now controlled by her instincts rather then by other people, that's as bad as it gets my friend. Brad may have been selfish but wouldn't we all be in that situation?
So to my understanding Dr. Yado was Buddy’s real biological father and even under the mess his little joy project caused, he felt no remorse for any of it. Even after the death of all the women except for his daughter, he still didn’t care. He killed his wife and decided to dump the baby among what was left of the men in hopes it would start a war between them. That way they’d all kill themselves and leave no one else but him to rule over what’s left of the world. But there was one thing that threw a wrench into his plans. Brad found Buddy first who only wanted to keep the girl safe and unharmed from the world that was slowly falling apart. Yado and his wife may have birthed Buddy, but I still consider Brad to be her true father.
Yado, working with Buzzo, let Buzzo choose a man to raise Buddy. Buzzo chose Brad so that he could make him suffer by taking away Buddy and tormenting them both.
Actually there is a high possibility that Yado caused the Flash, what explains why Joy Gang has many reasources and why Joy Labs placed in areas with many plants around. I even heard a story that the whole Olathe is an experient and under a dome and there are actual women in bunkers made by Yado's people (and if we count fangames as cannon there is another females)
I don't think it is unrelated. The ending is visceral and deeply fucked up, basically Lisa made her crush do it to see if she could survive something that painful, so that Marty wouldn't rape her. And she gave him his nickname that day.
It’s sad how Brad still comforts you and heals you even though you keep attacking him. It’s like he doesn’t care if you hate him, he just wants to protect you.
It's because the unique ending you cry is pacifist and is a good ending with all the mean and Liza is harder because it's not like a good ending but is a bit good so that is sadder
I didn't personally cry at LISA's ending, but I did feel fucking EMPTY. not feeling nothing, I felt like a hole had been ripped into my chest, and just sat in melancholic hollowness. Fucking love this series.
The saddest thing about this ending is that even if Buddy takes the vaccine and self-sacrifices for mankind, she alone is not enough to re-populate the Earth, in order for any kind of hope of re-population, you'd need a number of 500 people of 50/50, no matter what, all hope was lost already a long time ago.
I see it more as buddy having a kid not for humanity, but to break the families cycle of abusing their children. In other words, become a good parent, no matter how the world is
For those of you who are confused Lisa ending is Lisa and Buzzo when they were kids. When Lisa said "then he won't want me anymore" she was talking about her dad, Martin. Father ending was Martin talking to Brad, teaching him to throw beer bottles rather than karate like Brad wanted to.
There's also hint that when Martin tell Brad "Let's go see your sister", he means that he either forced Brad to watch or even forced him to participate.
I can’t believ how gullible you are. Martin is getting brad drunk so he will molest his sister with him. He even says finish it and do you want to be a man?
*Buddy stabs.* *An excellent hit!!* *The Nobody hates himself.* *The Nobody uses suicide.* *Missed! The Nobody took no damage!* not lol, but a bit funny
"Some people can't even kill themselves right!" - me to my brother after he attempted suicide Before anyone tells me I'm an asshole, it made him laugh and that's all I could do in that moment.
The Join Them ending is pretty depressing. She spent the whole game fighting back against a world of men who simply wanted her for their own selfish benefit, shoving away the only people who ever truly cared about her, Rando and Brad. Realizing what she's done, she gives into despair and becomes a Joy mutant, forced to live with what she's done for the rest of her existence, alone, surrounded by the corpses of those whom she could have called 'family'.
There are slightly more unique endings (for the mutant ending only if I remember) where if you dropped dusty when he was held by barbed wire, buddy's joy mutant will be holding a baby.
There's 2 other versions of the mutant and normal ending, if you skip past the rando on a chain rope thing scene there's no child but if you don't skip it and use the "hold" option, there's a child in the ending. In the mutant version, Buddy mutant will hold the child.
the LISA trilogy, and any fangame that has any merit behind it, is a series that makes you feel soul crushingly empty inside when its done with, but in a weirdly not bad way. One empathizes with the characters, but things go so astronomically poorly for them at every turn that you just wait for SOMETHING for them to latch on to, but it never comes or is slapped away just before it can be reached. It shines a spotlight on to a "Road to hell paved with good intentions" crossed with the apocalypse, and it's just a slice of something special.
*The hair is getting smaller* *The Giants Stomach gets back to normal* *The Broken mind is whole again* *The Joy had vanished* *He is alive* *And now he regrets everything* "But never will happen because" *HE IS D E A D*
The leave them and join them ending shows that joy was amplifying buddies hatred of brad as we see her tear him up in the join them ending and have him there watching her baby in the leave them ending
You have to know this Buddy. I was completely lost before I found you. You made me feel things I'd never felt before... You showed me what love really is. And that's why when I look into your eyes, it's the scariest feeling in the world. It's why I buried myself so deep into the darkness.
5:01 OUCH so much damage to my feels man i miss my happiness this view is sad... Just sad we have never seen brad this sad before ( except that time with cheeks and buddy and i mean with a facial expression ) but here it's so heartbreaking to see that he misses his son too
I am so fucking love how this game ended, especially in "Leave them" ending Yado is dead. Buzzo is redeemed and punished at the same time. Brad somehow found his peace living with Buddy (despite he sadly will never restore his mindset). Only sad that Rando is dead, but Buddy forgive him in the end, and burry him in peace, and if in the end it wasn't a hallucination, but a some kind of a ghost, who was apoligizing, Rando understood and forgive Buddy too. Buddy is alive and not raped. And about 90% of Olathe, who was ready to risk their lives for a chance to rape a child, is fucking dead I think its the best ending a game like this could get
Explanation for the other 2 endings: Lisa ending : Lisa asks Buzzo to cut her face with a saw so Marty (Brad's father) would stop ra#ing her. Father Ending: Marty forces Brad to drink something (maybe whiskey or something like that) and then forces him to have woopawoopa with his sister.
@Julian Meza The normal ending is a conversation between Dr. Yado (mr trumpet-player and the man who produced the Joy drug) and an unknown person. I theorize that the person Dr. Yado is talking to in the normal ending is his wife, Mrs. Yado, who he conceived Buddy with, and ends with Yado killing her (you can find her body and a note in the Joy Lab).
Ah so I somehow missed the normal ending... By complete chance I visited Rando's body with the mask at the right time for it, and the second time I did the Joy lab and picked the other option. Really hope he makes another game in the future, this is one of those games that the story will stick with you forever
What if the scenery prior to the fight with Brad represents the blood bath Buddy has created upon her mindless killing in search for revenge and, every flower represents every man she has killed?
To make the ending much more depressing: It was all for nothing. The wars, the battle for 1 girl still doom the entire world, plants dont grow back, and the wolrd will never heal. even if buddy somehow gave birth to more children, many people forget that biology still comes to play. You dont want dna to be mixed with your kin. Look at the habspurgs family and what incest has done to that with genetic failures. You atleast need 500 or 1000 women to even have a hope of restarting the world. Even then, good luck with finding fertile land to grow food. Also look at the death rates of women giving birth in the past. It has a high death toll. 1 girl will never be enough to repopulate the planet.
Sorry this is late, but uh- here’s your explanation!: After Buddy didn’t take the vaccine, she started hallucinating, believing she now ruled the world, soon becoming a joy mutant, just like everybody else in the miserable wasteland, alone. Not sure if you knew this, but Joy Mutants are instinctive creatures, that follow their deepest instincts, passions, and desires, and with this in mind, this happened: She wanted to be worshipped, and her mind saw Dustin as a follower, which is why his corpse appears to be lying next to her in the “Joyful/Mutant Ending.” She carried his corpse around with her wherever she went, as a way of saying that she’s hallucinating, and thinks Dusty’s corpse is a follower, which is pretty bad, even with or without context- Next we have what happened to Brad. Of course, if you’ve played, or at least watched the previous game, Lisa The Painful, you can tell Buddy hated Brad for: locking her away, being overprotective, taking away her freedom, etc. So, she evidently killed mutant Brad.
I mean, a lot of people talk about how Buddy isn't going to be able to save them all, but let's assume she has back-to-back pregnancies, supported by those she can trust (unlikely, but possible nonetheless). If she has girls, and assuming all the guys in the world don't die of old age, she could produce an exponential amount of children, with every child that reaches a safe age (let's say eighteen. There's younger pregnancies, but pregnancies ordinarily have huge risk attached to them, let alone in a world without proper equipment or obstetricians). This means that every nine months after her first child reaches eighteen, and assuming they all do the same, then they _can_ get a population large enough to avoid genetic stagnation. This can also be continued by storing semen samples from the huge number of currently alive men to prevent genetic stagnation after the current generation dies (which it will at an average of, like, 50, because medicine and lack of experience. This could be mitigated by using libraries and current experts to train medical staff for the future, but would remain a problem if not). The biggest negative of this method is cultural shift, because having women as what essentially amounts to beasts of burden would be a huge cultural shift that would have massive implications a couple generations into the future. What do you guys think?
The problem is that you see they the women as giving-birth-machine, maybe good in theory to save mankind, but as they are mankind, women simply will not just be like that. Your plan fail not just like the human ending where seem like Buddy give birth only boy, but aslo fail as in order to save mankind, you give up what differ us from animals or those mutant drive by their instinc in this game.
@@arisulidell1326 Thankfully, there's still a sizeable population of men around, so inbreeding shouldn't be an issue until those men all start dying out, by which time you should have a starting population large enough to work with. You could also store semen for long periods with refrigeration to allow the repopulation to continue post-first generation death.
yeah...causeee thats what yado used to control the mutants...kinda reminds me of how in aot there was the founding titan blood, which gives u the ability to control all abnormal titans
slackerboy14 congratulations, your name is featured in a game that got me messed up more on the inside! Either way, you’re named after one of the best characters in my opinion-
The implications there are kind of disturbing. You see Buddy, Brad and a baby... you don't have a lot of ideas as to who the father is except for that ugly fucking joy-mutant Brad. Like yeah he had a good heart but he's a joy mutant, wtf
I like to imagine that after the events of Joyful, the humans of Lisa's world began to use the mutants of Joy to I like to imagine that after the events of Joyful, the humans of Lisa's world began to use the mutants of Joy for their everyday use. They would still be wild beasts, but Buddy's trumpet would make them possible to use them for their own benefit
i don't get the last ending. i think it is a conversation between Brad and his dad,but what did his dave give to him and wanted him to finish? also dr.yado's plan does not make much sense,he spread a drug that turns people to monsters,he killed all women in the world except his daughter and this would somehow let him to take over the world.
In the "father" epilogue, it's safe to asume that it's Marty forcing Brad to drink alcohol. I don't know about the "LISA" epilogue, but it's probably Lisa talking to Buzzo
The first two endings (Mutant/Human) are Dr.Yado and his wife speaking, referring to Buddy's birth. While the LISA ending are Lisa and Buzzo (wanting her face cut off to dissuade her father from abusing her).
i dont know the story of 3 games very well? now what is the history? why is everyone a mutant and there is almost no girl and this all are somehow said to happen bacause of abuse?
Have you played the game? She's the only woman left on earth. She wears a mask to hide her identity because...well, what do you THINK would happen if all the dudes knew she had a hole to plug?
Ending 1 is so scary because she has to commit emotional incest with her father figure. Even though she hated him she really loved him and was just resentful of having a sheltered life. Ending 2 sucks but at least she is released from her mortal coil, this world just seems like too much suffering and it is understandable to want to become a joy mutant and forget it all. So ending 1 is the “best” outcome but that is far from saying much.
"Let's go see your sister..." This explains why buzzo was so cruel to Brad. It wasn't just that he was helpless about the situation, and couldn't do anything. "Let's go see your sister..." implies that he was involved or possibly even raped lisa himself. Was buzzo aware of this? I don't know, It's up for debate, but it certainly explains Buzzo's cruel nature towards Brad. It also makes sense why Brad killed marty, It wasn't just that marty raped his daughter, but Brad was just as guilty. The suicide of Lisa was indirectly caused by Brad, which explains why Brad hallucinate Lisa so much when taking joy. In a sense his hallucination is his guilt. While Brad is innocent and was forced by Marty to (possibly) rape Lisa, It paints him in an interesting light. He wasn't just a bystander but was forced by Marty to participate.
While I too thought he was forced to participate in sexual acts with Lisa at first, I think that dialogue was implying they threw bottles at her, on account of the whole “you don’t need that karate shit” spiel Marty was saying.
Still have no idea who the father for that little boy in the end there... Still kinda fucked up how Lisa was pregnant to begin with, she seemed so young in the story...
The normal ending sounds like Buddy use the trumpet to control Brad as you can see from how Yado use it to control "sweetheart aka Nancy" and now Buddy use it to control Brad to have an intercourse in order to repopulate the world which is shown by the baby....for Dusty aka Rando, since he died from the fall and that the Rando she was talking to was just a vision, Dusty in the normal ending was buried by Buddy as a sign of respect and now the whole family is together, the good ending I suppose. The mutant ending is Buddy taking the vaccine that turn her to a mutant. This is what i think of what happen at the end so this isn't confirm or correct
The games are rather uncomfortable but beautiful, they handle some dark uncomfortable themes and it handles them pretty well. They're pretty good if you have the stomach for it, but honestly they're gruesome in a sense, they're depressing, it's a nihilistic world, it's an interesting world, and it gets uncomfortable. It does a lot of things amazingly. The main thing though is that if you can't get passed how uncomfortable the games are, you're not going to like the series. To this day watching the cutscenes or watching anything from the game feels... It feels weird. But it's a really good experience if you're really up for it.
Idk, it's kinda illogical for me, buddy should appear with the baby if she didn't leg to on Buzzo, so Bolo had his "moment around" buddy off screen, before sweetheart killed him.
Even the Leave Them ending is a bit depressing. Sure, Buddy has taken the vaccine, gotten older, and had a child, but the damage to the world because of Dr. Yado has still been done. And humanity still has limited genes now, which means that unless Buddy has more girls, and older men have children with them, humanity faces a future generation of inbreeding. The future of humanity is still uncertain and bleak as ever.
The reason I love this game so much is because no matter what choice you’re given, you feel like you made the wrong one 100% of the time, and it haunts you for weeks.
Yeah u either live a horrible life for buddy or for the world u never win

He killed his wife and decided to dump the baby among what was left of the men in hopes it would start a war between them. That way they’d all kill themselves and leave no one else but him to rule over what’s left of the world.
But there was one thing that threw a wrench into his plans. Brad found Buddy first who only wanted to keep the girl safe and unharmed from the world that was slowly falling apart.
Yado and his wife may have birthed Buddy, but I still consider Brad to be her true father.
Brad found Buddy because of Buzzo's plan to make him suffer
Yado, working with Buzzo, let Buzzo choose a man to raise Buddy. Buzzo chose Brad so that he could make him suffer by taking away Buddy and tormenting them both.
Isn’t the mutant that buzzo fights off in the beginning Buddy’s real mother
Actually there is a high possibility that Yado caused the Flash, what explains why Joy Gang has many reasources and why Joy Labs placed in areas with many plants around. I even heard a story that the whole Olathe is an experient and under a dome and there are actual women in bunkers made by Yado's people (and if we count fangames as cannon there is another females)
@@goldensp3038 I remember Buzzo talking about other women when Buddy escapes from him, right before you choose to lose your second arm or your items.
In the 'LISA ending', I'm guessing they cut off the paw of a cat because in the Lisa the painful, you can get an item which is a cat's paw.
Totally different stuff, the cat paw was just a accessory item meant for that specific character and has no correlation with this.
Laffie but why would they coincidentally add a cat's paw in the game?
Пердун Пердунски A CHARACTER YOU FUCKASS
I don't think it is unrelated. The ending is visceral and deeply fucked up, basically Lisa made her crush do it to see if she could survive something that painful, so that Marty wouldn't rape her. And she gave him his nickname that day.

The Leave them or the Join them
The saddest thing about this ending is that even if Buddy takes the vaccine and self-sacrifices for mankind, she alone is not enough to re-populate the Earth, in order for any kind of hope of re-population, you'd need a number of 500 people of 50/50, no matter what, all hope was lost already a long time ago.
I see it more as buddy having a kid not for humanity, but to break the families cycle of abusing their children. In other words, become a good parent, no matter how the world is
You can make it work with 100 people.... But even then its on the fence since at that point all needs to go well for th 50 males and 50 females.
For those of you who are confused
Lisa ending is Lisa and Buzzo when they were kids.

The Join Them ending is pretty depressing. She spent the whole game fighting back against a world of men who simply wanted her for their own selfish benefit, shoving away the only people who ever truly cared about her, Rando and Brad. Realizing what she's done, she gives into despair and becomes a Joy mutant, forced to live with what she's done for the rest of her existence, alone, surrounded by the corpses of those whom she could have called 'family'.
That mutant ending is creepy... af
super karblack yeah
Its even creepier when you get the second version with the baby.

Father Ending is absolutely horrifying.
I am so fucking love how this game ended, especially in "Leave them" ending
Yado is dead. And about 90% of Olathe, who was ready to risk their lives for a chance to rape a child, is fucking dead
I think its the best ending a game like this could get

Explanation for the other 2 endings:
Lisa ending : Lisa asks Buzzo to cut her face with a saw so Marty (Brad's father) would stop ra#ing her.
Father Ending: Marty forces Brad to drink something (maybe whiskey or something like that) and then forces him to have woopawoopa with his sister.
woopawoopa 😳
The "FATHER" ending is a conversation between martin and Brad or buddy and her son?
The Dude Marty and brad I think
@@Augusataaa Thanks
@Julian Meza The normal ending is a conversation between Dr. Yado (mr trumpet-player and the man who produced the Joy drug) and an unknown person. I theorize that the person Dr. Yado is talking to in the normal ending is his wife, Mrs. Yado, who he conceived Buddy with, and ends with Yado killing her (you can find her body and a note in the Joy Lab).

Really hope he makes another game in the future, this is one of those games that the story will stick with you forever

I can't even express how amazing this game is
16:40 wth is going on?! UGH THIS GAME CONFUSES ME
@ dude play the game then
Sorry this is late, but uh- here’s your explanation!:
After Buddy didn’t take the vaccine, she started hallucinating, believing she now ruled the world, soon becoming a joy mutant, just like everybody else in the miserable wasteland, alone.
Not sure if you knew this, but Joy Mutants are instinctive creatures, that follow their deepest instincts, passions, and desires, and with this in mind, this happened:
She wanted to be worshipped, and her mind saw Dustin as a follower, which is why his corpse appears to be lying next to her in the “Joyful/Mutant Ending.” She carried his corpse around with her wherever she went, as a way of saying that she’s hallucinating, and thinks Dusty’s corpse is a follower, which is pretty bad, even with or without context- Next we have what happened to Brad. Of course, if you’ve played, or at least watched the previous game, Lisa The Painful, you can tell Buddy hated Brad for: locking her away, being overprotective, taking away her freedom, etc. So, she evidently killed mutant Brad.
It’s a little hard to read the dialogue when ur clicking through it fast like that
I mean, a lot of people talk about how Buddy isn't going to be able to save them all, but let's assume she has back-to-back pregnancies, supported by those she can trust (unlikely, but possible nonetheless).
Joy would still be around tho
The problem is that you see they the women as giving-birth-machine, maybe good in theory to save mankind, but as they are mankind, women simply will not just be like that. Your plan fail not just like the human ending where seem like Buddy give birth only boy, but aslo fail as in order to save mankind, you give up what differ us from animals or those mutant drive by their instinc in this game.
@@arisulidell1326 Thankfully, there's still a sizeable population of men around, so inbreeding shouldn't be an issue until those men all start dying out, by which time you should have a starting population large enough to work with. You could also store semen for long periods with refrigeration to allow the repopulation to continue post-first generation death.

who are the 2 people that are speaking?

Terry mask
Have you played the game? She's the only woman left on earth. She wears a mask to hide her identity because...well, what do you THINK would happen if all the dudes knew she had a hole to plug?
They would all get drunk. (right?)
Maya Norton she's a she. She wears a mask. If she wasn't wearing it, she's already last female on earth..... you get what would happen, right?
Ending 1 is so scary because she has to commit emotional incest with her father figure. Even though she hated him she really loved him and was just resentful of having a sheltered life. Ending 2 sucks but at least she is released from her mortal coil, this world just seems like too much suffering and it is understandable to want to become a joy mutant and forget it all. So ending 1 is the “best” outcome but that is far from saying much.
It’s been confirmed by Austin that the father isn’t Brad, don’t worry.
"Let's go see your sister..."
This explains why buzzo was so cruel to Brad.

Why is Buddy holding a trumpet at 13:36?
It's yado's trumpet. It can be used to control the mutants.
