I left my family, my friends and my hometown to travel the world. This year we are going to Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and New York. For now we are staying in Baños.
Should you visit Ecuador? Is Ecuador too dangerous or can you travel there? Ecuador is a country straddling the equator on South America’s west coast. Its diverse landscape encompasses Amazon jungle, Andean highlands and the wildlife-rich Galápagos Islands. In the Andean foothills at an elevation of 2,850m, Quito, the capital, is known for its largely intact Spanish colonial center, with decorated 16th- and 17th-century palaces and religious sites, like the ornate Compañía de Jesús Church.
Ecuador is in my opinion the most underrated travel location in South America. It's sheer beauty and diversity makes it a perfect travel destination. So to answer the question: Should you go there? Yes please.

I live in Cuenca almost 3 yrs now and its THE BEST..EC is the most beautiful country..the people are wonderful ..I have zero regrets
I lived in Ecuador almost tree years! Incredibly beautiful, very friendly people and relative safe! I love Ecuador and his people!
Es que Quito, como toda capital y ciudad grande, no ofrece mucha seguridad como Cuenca u otra ciudad pequeña. Pero, en Quito encuentras lo que en una ciudad pequeña no hay. Muchísimos edificios altos, muchísimas discotecas, bares, hoteles, conciertos musicales todas las semanas, de todo tipo de música. Muchísimos sitios para conocer. Restaurantes con todo tipo de comida, italiana, árabe, venezolana, colombiana, argentina, boliviana, peruana, mexicana, china, japonesa, española, alemana, húngara, tailandesa, hindú, turca y más. Capital es capital. Saludos desde Quito, PRIMER PATRIMONIO CULTURAL DE LA HUMANIDAD.
Todo ese tipo de comida lo ofrecen en vilcabamba
I have lived in Cuenca for the past six months and have traveled to The Amazon, Quito and Banos but based myself out of Cuenca. I agree with your assessment of Quito and I did not feel safe there at night. Parque La Carolina was awesome and is definitely worth the time to visit it. Banos was too touristy for me and since I am older did not appeal to me all that much. Cuenca is an awesome little city and I have enjoyed my time here, except for the city noise. I walk almost everywhere I go in Cuenca and understand what you mean about crossing streets. At the beginning of my stay it was horrible but once I figured it out 70% of drivers will give me the right of way. Ecuadorians are very welcoming and I have enjoyed my time here very much.

Ecuador is a wonderful country full of wonderful people, it has excellent food and for all tastes 👍🏻 and above all, its people are spectacular... There are many tourist places ☺️

As an Ecuadorian ( Living in the US) I'm so glad you liked Ecuador. I'm Originally from Quito and I have to agree with you, unfortunately it's not super safe or as safe as banos or Cuenca. If I ever go back to live in Ecuador I think I would move to Cuenca.
Yo soy del Tena, es muy linda mi ciudad pero aun no la activan tanto para el turismo, tiene mucho potencial. Lo de cruzar la calle es tan cierto, lo hacen muy complicado, muy pocos semáforos y los conductores tampoco te dan el paso, es realmente estresante

No kidding about crossing the street.
When I was there I noticed basically no adherence to traffic laws. A lot of honking. Honking in Ecuador is not rude. They have their way of communicating.

Yo conduzco en Quito y si doy paso al peatón así que hago la diferencia ( siempre y cuando el peatón este en la linea de cruzar no en medio de la calle) el parque se llama Carolina y si nos ha afectado el tema de los narcos mexicanos y colombianos que han reclutado gente por acá pero ya se está trabajando en este tema Si concuerdo Tena y la provincia del Napo en general es hermosa 🖐️ Quito

I live in Cuenca but went white water rafting in Tena with River People. Great guides, great trip. The drivers in Ecuador are pretty bad and disrespectful of pedestrians.

We just returned from our exploratory trip to Ecuador, and ruled out Cuenca for two reasons: #1. The auto pollution is terrible and #2. The people there drive very fast, and you are correct - crossing the street is a death-defying experience. We opted for Cotacachi--a smaller town with cleaner air and people that actually stop for you to cross! We are moving there in early 2023!

@@jorgeochoa7450 Cotacachi is too small to have an "American community." There are about 500-700 expats sprinkled throughout the town. Yes, we plan to keep working on our US-based business--which we can run from anywhere.

I'm totally agree with Your negative comment; even that I was born in Ecuador, I dont live there for the last past 32 years; but I watch videoes, I place some comments in Facebook about this important point and other things also; I said that the Goverment should really punish these Type of drivers; not only with tickets, but physically; since they don't respect the loife of The Pedestrians. I dont: How Really Bad is what you are complaining in Ecuador, but I believe thios happens in other countries of latin-america, were there is No Strong Laws to apply them.

Soy de Quito, gracias por mostrar lo lindo de mi pais Ecuador! Como toda Sudamérica la inseguridad es por la migración, la situación social y política. Esto debe cambiar porque tenemos lo mejor para mostrar al mundo, gente buena, la cultura, la comida increíble y la biodiversidad de flora y fauna de sus regiones naturales.
Cuenca y Quito son lugares muy bonitos para recorrer y conocer ya que Ecuadr tiene algunas marravillas

Hey, this is just an opinion and its meant to be helpful, but honestly i was hoping for something different from this video. Most of what you showed was you talking, with just a few quick flashes of the places you visited but even those were just some arial shots and not film of you DOING the stuff you went and did there. In other words, and especially compared to the other videos of people living as expats in Ecuador or explorers documenting thier adventures abroad, this didnt give me much to look at besides just you dude. Your a good looking guy and all lol but i clicked on your video to see Ecuador and to SEE your adventures there you know? Now, this video was a "watch once" for me and you still got a thumbs up for the effort and sharing your life stuff, but normally if i find a video that shows the fun and wonderful places people are exploring and it is something new or exciting or beautiful, then i share that video with a lot of other friends who are also interested in travel and especially Ecuador because it seems to be a hot topic at the moment on TH-cam. You COULD have gotten hundreds of views on this video from just me alone dragging other people along to watch and then more from a combination of them showing it to others as well as youtube bumping it up higher in visibility from getting more views. And that puts more money in your pocket for more adventures. Hope some part of this is helpful and best of luck to you on your TH-cam journey!

I am an Ecuadorian highly disappointed with all people driving so unaware about pedestrians! That must chance! Thanks for pointing that out! Espero que mi gente despierte y haga lo correcto. Es una muestra de respeto básico y que desmerece nuestra imagen fuera del país. Actuemos civilizadamente Ecuatorianos es fácil, vamos!
