@@ZraM_tv Patrik Laine averaging 40 goals a season??? Are you High??? He did it ONCE and never came close again in 9 seasons. using the average to get bigger numbers is a fancy way to give you hope but the fact is he never did reach his potential and probably never will. Hell Columbus GAVE mtl a second round just to get rid of him because they knew they couldnt get a better deal. What you think will happen is irrelevant when you consider facts. Laine will be a top 6 player but not a key contributor, Also you are spouting alot of nonsense about Armia and Monahan, Monahan was one of the premiers centers and an excellent TWF in the nhl for years, had a skillset that any team could find use and rarely something bad was said of him. Laine has already been on the player help program twice is a lazy player and do not play defense. the comparison is absolutely terrible. On hutson time will tell, everybody can tell his offensive prowess and iq will be off the charts, but on the 2 games he played he directly made the habs lose one there will be drawbacks top him, that being said sky is the limit.
@@GeneralMcNugget On Monahan I don’t mean that he was bad coming to montreal. But teams were passinf offerts on him and telling Calgary that they weren’t interested because yes he was good but he was also aging and always injured. Calgary wouldn’t have given their 1rst round pick if they would have believed in him that he could be good again and restart playing more games. So they send him to Montreal where he proofed that he was still a really really good TWF and just really good player veteran that could bring a lot to the team. Well with Laine. Yes he only had ONE 40 goal season. But he also only had ONE full season. And even if he don’t even score 40 goals again. He can definitely (if he stays healthy) easily put 30-35 goals seasons with some assists there you have a 60-70 pts player on your second line. And with the help of Martin St-Louis I’m sure they’ll do nothing but improve him offensively and defensively. And I see the « lazy » thing as well with him but… I would wouldn’t be really happy as well if I knew I was a really promising potentially 50 goal scorer once and since I got traded started getting injured and played with a bunch of Pee-Wee player where all my goals needed to be incredible solo efforts because nobody can make the plays. I would have spend some time with the Player Safety Department as well. But coming to Montreal after multiple seasons with injuries and still putting up near a point per game. And arriving in Montreal, a team with a decent top 6, incredible coaching staff and trainers. And really talented and good teammates where he’ll get a lot of touches with the puck. He can bounce back to what he was or at least not too far from it. And improve his game. And for Hutson. I agree. Defensively he’s really not there but… After only 2 NHL games it’s hard to tell, obviously he’ll do mistakes. Take a look at Barron who since he arrived at Montreal pretty much only made mistakes in the defensive zone but I really think he will also improve defensively. We saw him playing really really good defensively during the World Juniors and his last NCAA season. A bit of time at Laval and even more hardwork (offensively as well) and he could really become a star.
Lol... you say that every year... and then finish bottom 5..... again.... this year will be no different... Laine isnt a Crosby/McDavid/Matthews... he isnt moving the needle enough, your a bottom 5/10 team again.
If he stays healthy physically and mentally should be a 30 goal 70 point guy. I mean he will 100% get top 6 and pp1 minutes. Even if he sticks on line 2. That's a solid player. Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky Laine-Dach-Newhook Roy-Gallagher-Anderson Barré'Boulet-Evans-Beck
Laine have all the 2024-25 season to find is scoring touch again, after that, he might be a perfect fit to play with our young talent Ivan demidov! If he can’t find is game again, then he will just be gone after the 2 remaining years of his contract. A second round for Harris is actually not bad value since we had a lot of young defensemen fighting for a spot in the line up. Well done Kent Hughes!
As a montreal canadiens fans, I'm very exicited to see what Laine can bring to montreal. If he gets example 30goal 60points I would be very haapy about that trade
I really hope Laine can find his mojo on the Canadiens roster. He has potential to be great if his head is in the right space. But I am not without concern when it comes to this move. Laine will have to prove his doubters wrong. He has the tools, it’s just about putting it all together. Wishing Jordan Harris a solid career ahead in Columbus! Thank you for your hard work during your time in Montreal, Jordan.
As much as this was a win. We're almost spending 9 million on this guy. If he doesn't pan out. Him, Gallagher and Anderson will combined for $20,700,000 in cap. But he should still be a 30-35+ goal 60-70 point guy. Should push us to the playoffs. I give it a B right now. But has A+ potential if he gets back to a 40 goal scorer.
I think this is a win for the jackets laine is so lazy he’ll be fast with the puck when going to the o zone. But the back check is so dumb he doesn’t try that’s why he was traded out of Winnipeg he’s been benched a lot because of that he’s a good goal scorer and smart with the puck sometimes great goal scorer but lacks of back check is ugliest stuff I’ve ever seen. Love the content
Can’t wait to see what Laine does in a first class major league city! Nothing against Winnipeg and Columbus. But Montreal is next level. Laine should be psyched!
I'm laughing my ass off!!!! A 7th def against a 2nd round draft pick and a 2 years rental of a high potential player... And even if Laine is still a bust, at least we tried, and we made a little clean of the 7th and 8th defensemen in Montréal... And we have a 2nd round pick as compensation... A+ move by Hughes. I was ready to give back Anderson, a B- prospect, and a 2nd or 3rd round pick... But we pretty much have Laine for free... Bow down to Hughes!
So long we don't put our self in a 'Oilers' cap space OF issues. A couple of yr we got Xhekaj/Hudson/Roy and Dach.. I have a feeling Demidov (sooner than later) that have to be signed. Also Barron to consider. Yep we gonna lose salary too of course by then. Laine gonna be the next 'Monahan' project.. If he can play a full season and score 25+ and show chemistry with players.. its gonna a fun yr to watch the habs.. win or lose. Still would preferred Kakko.. but hey still early..
More of a pat.. Hehe.. Laine's a project and so would be Kakko but one doesn't come with baggage and a 8.7 price tag and a quitting mentality or nomadic lifestyle. BUT If Laine can stay healthy.. an easy 1st rd from PO teams on his last yr.. though by then I rather get young NHL ready calibre prospect then a draft pick. Kakko would be age 25+ by then and we would know by then what we got. Laine plays a good Fortnite though.
I would have been ok with just the 2026 2nd roubder for Harris. We needed his roster spot. No we cleared a spot for whoever earns it at training camp and we acquire a top 6 winger whose contract expires at the end of Demidov's first year. Everything about this is trade is perfect
Of course Laine wanted out Columbus is the Calgary Flames of the US 🤣 Everybody wants out, which makes it even more hilarious that Johnny Hockey left them to got there🤣🤣🤣
i'd have traded a salary with harris. they may not have wanted anderson or gallagher, but the expiring dvorak contract could have been sent here. if laine doesn't work out this year, we have all three retention slots next year. harris is a solid bottom pair guy who plays a smart, unspectacular game and cbj will be glad to have him. i wish him luck. but, he was expendable here, and he just got expended. clears the way for struble to make the team.
No one is scared of a bottom 10 team lmao especially in the physical Atlantic division which is probably the most difficult division currently in the league
Great trade by CBJ! got rid of locker room cancer and that atrocious contract for only a 2nd round pick. Good luck with Laine montreal, you're gonna need it.
I expected him to go to Utah, because Utah has all that cap space and wants to make a big splash in their first year in Utah. It seems like a strange trade for Montreal, I still don't know if they're a good enough team to make the playoffs. But they get a second round pick, so I guess it's still a good trade for them even if they don't make the playoffs either of the next two years.
Question for everyone? Does this push them to a competitive 80-95 point team? Top 6 looking sweet now. And if they can stay pretty healthy and Hutson plays well. I could see them being a 35+ win team.
Harris is a dime a dozen type defenceman. Does everything right to be a decent defenceman but does not scratch the surface in comparison to the elite d-men we have coming up. I was more disappointed when they traded Kovacevic tbh.
Thought his contract was worse than just 2 yrs. Also thought the return would be more for columbus. Harris was very expendably and probably wouldn't have cracked the lineup once all the prospects have developed
Really like Harris but it was becoming obvious he was the odd man odd on the Canadien's D. Laine is high-risk but if he doesn't pan out they can cut ties after the season and they still have a high 2nd rounder.
I don't know folks. Taking that entire contract of a high risk player seems a bit crazy for a team who has a ton of RFA coming up. Maybe it works out and I hope it does but not making CBJ do atleast 25% retention is actually ridiculous.
I'm so hyped to see Laine finally going to a new team and Montreal is pretty awesome team to be traded to. I really hope also Hutson makes the lineup, gonna be an interesting team to watch next season.
If it's just for two years, waiting for Demidov to get ready, it's ok but hope they won't re-sign him any further. Hopefully, the price was totally ludicrous (nothing against Harris here).
As a Columbus fan we are breathing a sigh of relief that this is done. The second round pick is fine. Its the cost of doing business. Now once we move Elvis on or buy him out, we can move forward.
We paid much more for Dach. I'm surprised that's how Laine is valued. Maybe I undervalue Harris, but I think most people see him as not being part of MTL in the future (myself included), so I'm just confused. This is nice tho lmao

I know the habs arent gonna be bottom 3 in the NHL this year, but we're also not gonna be in the playoffs. In 2 years, once we renegotiate Laine's contract to a desirable amount, that's when the window of opportunity will be for the habs. Risk free transaction since I don't expect the habs to go ape shit at next year's free agency. We're just using our cap space.
One side got rid of a problem-the other side thinks they got a steal--still Hughes will hit on a few of these reclamation projects but overall don't like the habs scheme too many ifs and whens
I think people have forgotten how far off Laine has fallen. He's a shell of the guy he was in Winnipeg. If i was a gambler, i'd put money on him getting injured and being a waste of a roster spot in Montreal. I hope im wrong though!

Not speaking about the points he put on his 2 NHL games but. When you look at the way he moves. His Hockey IQ, puck control, playmaking abilities. He’s gonna be great.
Man…I really wanted him to come back to Winnipeg.
Atlantic division will be hell this season
Dach Anderson and Laine would make a line combination I’d look forward to.
Montreal about to be a powerhouse in the near future
Lol... you say that every year... and then finish bottom 5..... again.... this year will be no different... Laine isnt a Crosby/McDavid/Matthews... he isnt moving the needle enough, your a bottom 5/10 team again.
@alexrompen805 you're *
@@alexrompen805they’ll finish above the bruins though
@@alexrompen805 1. I hate the habs 2. I said near future, not next year. 3. They have an insanely young talented core
Let’s hope Laine can bounce back
If he stays healthy physically and mentally should be a 30 goal 70 point guy. I mean he will 100% get top 6 and pp1 minutes. Even if he sticks on line 2. That's a solid player.

@@4u2nvHock3y I say he realistically could have a 40 to 50 point season, if he stays healthy and actually plays like a team player
@@4u2nvHock3yreplace Beck with Armia. Imo sticking Beck in the AHL to play big minutes would be huge for him
While I have full faith in Kent Hughes, I'm very nervous about this move as a Habs fan .
If he gets example 30goal 60points I would be very haapy about that trade
great trade for montreal jeez
Just wow what a great dg Harris was already out anyway
I really hope Laine can find his mojo on the Canadiens roster. He has potential to be great if his head is in the right space. But I am not without concern when it comes to this move. Laine will have to prove his doubters wrong. He has the tools, it’s just about putting it all together.
Wishing Jordan Harris a solid career ahead in Columbus! Thank you for your hard work during your time in Montreal, Jordan.
Montreal is having a generational offseason.
I would never believe it if I weren’t staring at it with my own eyes 🥹
Kent Hughes is becoming the incarnation of YzerFleece 2.0
Better than Yzerman imo, Hugues is a genius.
@@jacobneron1444Kent Hughes just fleeced the Blue Jackets
The Gortughes Masterclass just keeps rolling along. If they get Laine back on track he will be an incredible trade asset next year.
It’s unbelievable! Harris for a 2nd round pick was great, but on top of it, we received Laine 😂😂
Curious to see how he holds up in the pressure cooker that is playing in Montreal.
True! I think he will be fine, it’s not like they are asking him to be the #1 guy. I think he’s going to compliment the core nicely.
@@OhNyquist solid point! Appreciate the reply!
Even if they flip Laine at end of the year, that's a great return for Harris.
Kakko over Laine? Come on now give yourself a shake
I remember people making the case for the Leafs maybe taking Laine instead of Matthews. Wow
Hate to see Harris go, but Laine could be insane
Huge W for Habs
As a Habs fan... YES! 100% approved.
Brilliant! Hughes is a genius
I would have been ok with just the 2026 2nd roubder for Harris. We needed his roster spot. No we cleared a spot for whoever earns it at training camp and we acquire a top 6 winger whose contract expires at the end of Demidov's first year. Everything about this is trade is perfect
Montreal just keeps doing everything right!
Of course Laine wanted out Columbus is the Calgary Flames of the US 🤣 Everybody wants out, which makes it even more hilarious that Johnny Hockey left them to got there🤣🤣🤣
What a trade let Kent cook. My question is now what line will he play on I’m thinking the second line?
Ivan Demigod and Laine playing the wings to say... Dach?
i'd have traded a salary with harris. they may not have wanted anderson or gallagher, but the expiring dvorak contract could have been sent here.
if laine doesn't work out this year, we have all three retention slots next year.
harris is a solid bottom pair guy who plays a smart, unspectacular game and cbj will be glad to have him. i wish him luck. but, he was expendable here, and he just got expended. clears the way for struble to make the team.
Habs are looking very scary even as of next season but especially 2025-26 when Demidov enters the league, oh
Boyy
No one is scared of a bottom 10 team lmao especially in the physical Atlantic division which is probably the most difficult division currently in the league
Even if Laine does not find his stride in Montreal it's a good trade for both teams.

Did not think that CBJ would have to add a 2nd round pick in any Laine trade tbh
8mil no retention
Thought his contract was worse than just 2 yrs. Also thought the return would be more for columbus. Harris was very expendably and probably wouldn't have cracked the lineup once all the prospects have developed
That cap tho I think Columbus got out gangbusters moving a contract that size being off the books is a massive haul
Montreal young core looks nice
Where's the Laine glazers now
Mark my words Montreal are going places this year, 4th last in the league.
All habs fans already seeing themselves in the playoffs 😂😂😂
I do remember when he was drafted 2nd he told everyone Toronto made a big mistake taking Matthews, well his career hasn’t gone to well so far
Well, Laine has still been further in playoffs than Matthews
finally habs bruins will be interesting
Laine ‘s got some of Mario’s mooves…😮
Lets hope Montreal play him like the Sniper he is and not.. a Power Forward at Center
This is nice tho lmao
dach isnt paid 9 mil and mental issues...low intenligence often causes confusion
I hope the young man can overcome his mental health woes and come back to his early brilliance
Is he still a first line winger or is he a middle-six player now?
Kent Hughes is running circles around these other GM’s
if laine and dach can stay healthy habs are looking scary
Who does Don Waddell think Jordan Harris is?😂😂😂😂😂I
Montreal is a difficult place to play especially for a struggling player. I don't see this going well for Laine .
If MTL can stay healthy they can easily clinch playoff spot
I'm happy we got a 2nd for Harris. He was the odd man out anyways. Best of luck to him. Solid depth defenseman in a really deep young d-core in mtl.
Habs took Laine before they took Dubois 💀
The Goalden Finn
Funny that you should say “pound-for-pound” for a guy who is a giant. But I get it.
Wonder which one will be the biggest bust? Pierre-Luc Dubois or Patrik Laine
W Kent Hughes
One side got rid of a problem-the other side thinks they got a steal--still Hughes will hit on a few of these reclamation projects but overall don't like the habs scheme too many ifs and whens
Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn wish Vegas could have gotten him. we needed an offensive winger, but I knew that wasn't realistic
I think people have forgotten how far off Laine has fallen. He's a shell of the guy he was in Winnipeg. If i was a gambler, i'd put money on him getting injured and being a waste of a roster spot in Montreal. I hope im wrong though!
His last two injuries were caused by elbow to head and slewfoot.
