I’m tired of spending money and we are going to eat what we have until the new year. I’m going to be diving deep in that freezer and climbing all the way to the back of that pantry before I do any real grocery shopping again. It’s the time of year for budget meals.
I'm feeling you on this. I went a little crazy with my pantry stock up after Covid gave us some shortages, but I need to put the brakes on. Especially with rising costs. I let some of those roll-back prices get the best of me the past few months.
I have a hard time using pantry items. I have a stocked pantry of the few can goods i do use. I also have a bunch of stuff i do Not like to use. I plan on spending the next month digging to the bottom of the chest freezer and using up some forgotten items. Those can goods have become a thorn in my side. My goal this next month is to hit those pantry items hard. This week i tried the box of Spanish rice with canned chicken breast and a can of corn. I will say it needed a little more spices for me to say it would be a okay meal. I do have a few bags of White rice stocked up so i am thinking of doing this again with different flavor combinations. I have been using powered milk for dishes and realized it is super easy to do this. Not having to buy milk is saving me a bit of cash. I use hot water to mix it up since i am cooking with it anyways. Not buying milk helps me to eat those egg prices that we have been seeing lately.
TH-cam recommended this video to me and I’m so glad I clicked on it. Your son Jordan is such a gem he had me cracking up 😂 you have a new subscriber here! I gotta try that lentil recipe. Lentils are my faaaaaaave ❤
My DIL made Birria tacos a few months back and it was the best tacos I've ever had. Tried them recently at a restaurant and they were boring. Never be afraid to try recipes or another version if you ever find a version you don't like. Sometimes a missing ingredient or a missing step makes all the difference. Watching videos like yours and watching my DIL cook really shows me how much love and care goes into food. I've only tolerated cooking before; in my later years I've really grown to love and appreciate cooking.
Put your lentils after they’re cooked in a blender and then adds your preferred bean in the soup. It just becomes a thick bean soup without the little tiny round bean texture
He makes me laugh so hard. The day I found your channel I was having a really bad day. Just watching you and your helped me so. Much. Words have so much power. Ty
Very good job, my baby. If you get leg quarters, or even better a whole one, it would be cheaper per pound. Back in the day, I would cut a whole chicken into 10 to 14 pieces. I used to take the (2)back pieces, the (4)wing parts, the neck, and the gizzard in a start for chicken and sausage gumbo or as a gravy. Don't forget, from the whole chicken you can use the fat, the bones and skin as a broth. If your family don't care for thighs, cut them up to make chicken nuggets or Buffalo wings. I was out of shrimp, and I used chicken as a fried rice dish. I really love your ideas with the lentils. I've never tried them. We eat red and lima beans down here, but I shall give them a try. Once again, you did a good job hun. I'm new to your channel and will be seeing you 33:58 again. ❤

Hi Just a tip for the beans , when sifting through the pinto beans put it on a cookie sheet to find the odd ones and little rocks. Its harder to find in a bowl. hope this helps
I started eating more lentils in the last 5 years or so (to cut back red meat for my husband’s cholesterol). I reduce the ground beef/pork/Italian sausage and replace with cooked lentils in spaghetti sauce, chili, beef tacos, basically anything that uses loose ground meat (husband never noticed). I like them cooked with curry and veggies over rice, he eats it but complains about no meat.
Lentils have a mild profile and will blend nicely with other flavors. While some will use it as a complete meat substitute, it's a great way to reduce the use of your ground meats with a 50/50 blend. .
