Even the majority of pasta made in Italy and consumed here in Italy is made from US, Canadian or Australian wheat. Just a few premium brands are made with 100% Italian durum wheat. In fact, Italy is not self-sufficient in wheat production.
Barilla is right now my favorite pasta brand. I've tried a lot of cheaper pastas and I will definitely not go back to those. Barilla is also most popular around here, so that's why I'm sticking to it. Btw, I'm from Europe, Croatia - Italy's neighbors :D
I used to live right next door to Raos & passed by it everyday. I was too afraid to go inside. There were always limos parked in front of it & it was dark inside. If there were Mafiosos in there, I was staying away. I never bought their products cause it’s too expensive.
I second RAO pasta. Its texture is what helps the sauce stick well. Slow and low drying temps mark the quality.
Barilla is from Italy BUT it’s made here in the US with American wheat 🌾 so it’s not imported....
Good to know. Thank You.

Barilla is definitely the best value for your money. Thank you for watching!
If you have access to DeCecco slow dried papardell or tagliatelle, try it. Much better than Barilla.

You know what they say. You get what you pay for. Rao's is expensive but is excellent.
Is the De Cecco in the U.S. a bronze die pasta?
Yes
Maybe spell rao right 😅
