Seeing a lotta people question the way the subtitles referred to them as cousins, so I'll try to clarify it how I saw someone else explained. Apparently in Japan it's a common thing to have people who aren't directly related to your family, but are very close and trusted friends of the family, be considered part of the family. I believe there is a word for it, but not in English, so the subtitles listed it as cousins. An example would be there's someone in my family who isn't actually a relative, but we call her Aunt cause she was a very close friend of the family and played a role in our lives growing up. So from what I understood, a member of Ko's family and a member of Carol's family were very close and are considered to be a "Friend who is both treated and referred to as" a family member, resulting in them indirectly being called, "cousins". Could be that, or I've also heard that outside of America, cousins dating is also more common/accepted, so who knows? 😅 A quick Google and Wikipedia search say about 10% of the the world's marriages involve 1st and 2nd cousins. But shockingly, a lot of the world allows first cousin marriage.
I think it said somewhere that they are third cousins, which has an r-value of 0.015625, which would be barely more than 2 strangers. An r-value of 0 is impossible, because every living human has at least one common ancestor with every other human. To get r=0, you’d have to create a new human completely from scratch; even a clone or any engineered one that used existing DNA would then have r>0.
I mean some people refer to some other people that are not related to them as "brother/sister","aunt/uncle", "grandpa/grandma" and things like that, not really surprising, if they're not closely related by blood then they shouldn't have problems, if they're happy and have no problems then everything is fine
I actually think the English term for that is fictive kin! I learned of it in family psychology, it’s literally a family member who becomes one through choice and closeness but not legally ie marriage

Girl really said *aw* like she was about to have a snack, she wasn't skipping bases she was going for a Homer! XD
1:23 Very smooth Ko👍
Indeed. With his eloquence .
I love that Carols voice actress does both the OG Japanese and English ^^
Misuzu MVP like always.

Making Carol cry is enough of a reason to start WW3
Never thought I’d see Carol cry. That hurts
Carol is so precious 💖.
