Not just $61 but, they charged more for bikes and bus. I was like WTF, why would I pay someone to go there? Not only that, they're charging you for a table and then the audacity to only order a certain meal as the other person had to get the exact same meal. No thank you, I'll pass.

Facts! And outside in the heat just hot, sweaty, and miserable. I’m a homebody, and my friends know not to invite me to any events where it’s overhyped. Especially in this Texas heat; because I am quick to jump back in my car and head back to my home where I’m comfortable and chilling in my 60 degree apartment. I’m not paying no damn $61 for walking or anything for a trash event. Even if it’s free, I’m not going to any overhyped trash event. That’s why I love driving my car to places, because if the event sucks, I can just dip out and not have to worry about waiting until someone is ready. I always tell friends to drive their own car because if I’m ready to go, I can just leave. Lol

Each city organizes its own and has a group of volunteer organizers. I went to the one in Dallas a few years ago and you either rode the bus or used your own transportation but there was no walking😂. It was at Southfork Ranch (where they filmed the TV show Dallas). We brought our own food, like a picnic. If we had ordered catering, each person could select their own entree. Everyone did not have to eat the same thing. Their organizers did them dirty. I loved the one I went to.

I've never heard of a Dinner en blanc. But I don't see the point of a place where you have to bring your own food and tables just to listen to music and a few performances. I feel it's the exclusivity of paying for an event and wearing all white that makes people think it is better than what it really is. Then we have to carry all our food & drink, and set up. People went ALL OUT with their table theme's and decor, it was insane. But all of this is just for social media, I swear

So I myself can pull this mess down the street (not knowing what street) on a hot summer day in my beautiful white linens. Crazy!!!! The biggest scam. I'm sad to hear that you had a horrible experience. I think it was the organizers fault (or lack of organization bc that's not how its supposed to go) Your experience was the opposite of our experience at Diner En LeBlanc in Wilmington DE. Even though the bringing your own table and chairs was a turn off for me it was much easier than expected. Everything else was extraordinary, we were located by the lake, we only paid $8 for our bus ride to the secret location, we did very little waking, we could wear WHATEVER we wanted, we bought tons of wine and liquor, I chose to purchase me and my husband's entrees from one of the many black-owned caters available and we could order whatever we like I had the lobster and my husband had braised beef, I even purchased a charcuterie board too! We had a live band, a DJ and performers along with several various activities like 360 photo booths, various bars, the large piano you play with your feet and tons of other activities! The couple that curated everything give aways like large white bags, sparklers champagne ice buckets. etc.... We got a lot for our $50 each. I hope you choose to experience it again in a different city (come to DE) or even country? Much love and respect to you💛

You can order what you want, not the same for each person or bring your own. The band was there from the beginning and when they left there was a DJ. It’s not for everybody because some people don’t think it’s worth the money to buy all the essentials that are needed and bring your own food to sit outside all dressed up but if that’s the case it’s not for you. I felt that way the first time as I was preparing to go, but once we got there, the experience was amazing. I went in Atlanta and DC. It is a lot of work to be dressed up in WHITE, pack and carry your table, chairs, decor, food, etc. walk almost 2 miles in the sweltering heat, go to your assigned area set up your little tight area, wave a napkin, eat (finally), walk around, briefly enjoy the entertainment (because you’re tired and sweaty at this point) pack up everything you brung, including your trash, and leave thinking “Did I really enjoy this experience?” The Atlanta experience was better because we bussed to the location (Mercedes Benz stadium when it was brand new.) DC was a different story all together. We pretty much walked half the National Mall to end up in front of the Nation’s Capitol. It was an extremely humid day, and we had to carry our rented tables and chairs (when the photo showed wheels). I would only go again if there’s a full service option where I only have to show up.

The hot air basket was the most BAFFLING thing!! What on earth??? What was the point or enjoyment? Even taking a photo, I would be too embarrassed to post it, there wasn’t anything to see! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

What's stopping ppl from following this cult in floral patterns and blue jeans? How can they secure a field of grass? On second thought why not just have a picnic wherever you want? This is weird.

They do this in Philly and I always wanted to attend. When I finally got an invite I deleted it. Like you said, who wants to carry tables, supplies, and walk in the heat (cause they have it at the end of the summer) in all white. Lol, after reading the instructions I thought it was just too much for dinner with friends.

🤦🏽‍♀️ This is why WE are at the bottom of the financial totem pole in this country. We stay getting hustled. Whoever thew this event should be ashamed.

That's crazy. You're right We're paying hundreds of dollars to go picnic while white folks are just going to the lake and doing it for free I understand support your community but nah this ain't right

@@momoffive1081this isnt true. Black women are the most educated group in this country and get more graduate degrees than any other group.

Why would you say something so stupid? Do you only know black people?? My city has a dinner every year on a bridge that they close off. It's $600 and it's nothing but white folk. They also have to walk far to the event. Also, in New Orleans the Zulu Ball is held yearly. You have to bring your own food to that. It has been happening forever. People come from all over the world to attend. You have a problem with that too? Man, I can't stand black people like you.

I think people are confused when they continue to call this a black event. This originated in France by a white guy 35 years ago. Depending on the city, these events are mostlh frequented by non-black people. I live in Richmond and ours has been on the grounds of museums, a historic train station and other notable places. I haven't been purely by choice but have had friends go who seemed to have a good time primarily because so many people there knew one another and the enjoyment seemed to be the preparation more than the actual event. But each city appears to be different and based upon the local group bringing it to their city. It's a worldwide event.

I was wondering what happened bc it used to be you had to fill out an application that wanted to know your job, etc and seemed much more exclusive and classy. Off of Summit Ave in Greensboro, NC is INSANE!!!

These people are miserable. Blacks people will take any opportunity to put down other blacks. This is not a black event. But here they go criticizing the black people who attend. If it’s not for you then don’t go. It’s really that simple.
I live in New York City and last year’s event was nothing short of spectacular. There was entertainment from beginning till end. Lots or different performers put on a great show. And the event was held in a posh neighborhood right off the water surrounded by luxury yachts and skyscrapers. It was beautiful.

Excellent commentary! You essentially have to bring the party ambience, not come soIeIy to be entertained at these events. Mr. ChimeTime, Rashad, may have experienced a private white party and was expecting the same. But some people agree with him; at $500 a pop...entertain me damm it!

I was on the waiting list forever here in ATL then got the invite last year and this year. I declined after hearing these types of stories and all of the hassle they take you through just to have a picnic in an unknown location.

My Sister enjoys it, but I can't wrap my head around it. I don't want to bring my own party to a party. I can't imagine hauling all that stuff to and from in the heat AND in all white!

Reminds me of that SpongeBob episode when Mr Krabs gave SpongeBob and Squidward a list of what they would be charged for such as walking and breathing lmao. But on a real note, that's why I'd never do any of that uppity bullshit. You spend hundreds of dollars just to say you did something mediocre asf and they make money hand over fist for nothing. $60+ bucks to walk to the middle of the street and bring my own goddamn food to sit and eat it with other people wearing white, DA FUQ!!!!!!
