Hike to Lungchutse Gonpa

The most scenic trek loop to Lungchutse Gonpa starts from Dochula and ends at Hongtsho village with some awe-inspiring views of the natural beauty.
Climb up from Dochula Pass (10,000ft) through rhododendron and hemlock forest until you see the fluttering flag of the Lungchutse gonpa. On a clear day you can have a spectacular view over the highest unclimbed Himalayan Mountain peaks covered in snow.
All the snow-capped mountain peaks can be visible during the clear weather to the north. The mountain ranges from left starts Jumolhari (23,996 ft), Gangchhenta (22,440 ft), Masang Gang (23,507 ft), Zongphu Gang or Table Mountain (23,293 ft), and Gangkar Puensum (24,740 ft), Bhutan’s highest and the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.
The Gonpa is so pleasant that it offers beautiful view with morning sunrise. We can arrange to spend a night at the Gonpa's guest house or camp at the beautiful meadow.
From the Gonpa, descend through the spruce, rhododendron, juniper and hemlock forest and slowly reach blue pine and oak vegetation as you near Tashigang Goenpa built in 18th century by 12th Je Khenpo. It is now a very important meditation center.
