It really bugs me when people say "I don't collect games for their value, I just like to play them" and then they pull out a copy of Super Bowling on the N64...
Collectors are BS'ing when they say they play games. As soon as you have 10 unplayed games in your collection your word doesn't mean shit. Even people with emulation boxes probably only play about 20 games out of the 25000 games on it.
@@atomiswave1971 to be fair, I only buy games I think I'd enjoy playing at some point, I don't intend to sell anything and video games are an absolutely terrible investment. That being said, there's so much shit I have that I won't get around to any time soon or at all. That's how it is, but I love owning what I do. Also, i don't want anything sealed because then it's fucking useless and just sits there on the shelf forever. My unplayed games may sit there too, but at least I can pull them off the shelf whenever and just play them, unlike sealed games.
@@NottJoeyOfficial I wouldn't say terrible investment. If you buy new yes, but if you buy 20 year old games they have done the loss and gain bit. You might lose 5 bucks or so but certainly not all of it. Unless it's sports then of course the game is worthless a year later. Videogames are artificially priced due to ebay and social media keeping the buzz alive.
Well theres also some people that collect due to rarity not exactly value. I think it's cool to have one of a very limited number of an item because it feels more special than having something everyone else has. For example, I think having a Virtual Boy is pretty cool because its a neat and relatively rare console and I'd probably still have one even if it cost 1/10 of what it does.
It’s insane how much a Magnavox Odyssey is worth considering how primitive of a game system it actually is. The fact that it was the first ever home video game system has a lot to do with the value.
