The thing of it is stage presence encompasses more than posture, and he certainly has one. If you see a recording of segments of his live performance it'll give you an idea of what that is, but not until you actually sit with him before you will you get an idea of it. His demeanor, they way he conducts himself all just has a very positive ambiance. His stage presence is one of friendship and warmth. "Peace, Love, and Ukulele"
Jake makes the uke seem like a guitar srsly, it's both amazing and mind-boggling at the same time I also love the feeling he puts into his playing, good cover :)
When we are lucky enough to have a talent of this caliber come along, all that we can do is sit back and try to absorb/ embrace it all in that moment as he releases every beautiful thing form those places inside us all that w/o him could never be reached.
A beautiful song well played will always sound beautiful. For me Harrison has the biggest honor making out of his soul this song, but since Harrison is gone, i can't imagine a better person to play this song but this talented guy.
Yes, While my guitar gently weeps...recorded by the Beatles, and written by the late, and very great George Harrison. Great ukulele version! Mr. Shimabukuro, your the man! thanx to the upoader :)
Bravo to Jake whose musicality and maturity as an instrumentalist shine brilliantly in this cover. He has taken an instrument that has rarely been taken seriously out of its normal melieu of Hawaiian Music and shown that it can be used to remarkable effect in the right hands.
Great video! I saw Jake play this song at the Blender in NYC and it blew me away. Apparently, he was in the middle of a Japanese Tour and he flew all the way back to NY to play the show, then left the next morning to return to Japan to continue his tour. A true professional.
Are you serious? This stuff's absolutely captivating. He has more soul in 4 strings than most guitarists have with the standard 6. Hell I could watch him for hours.
Saw him in concert at UNC Wilmington, NC: Awesome !!!! This town has a bunch of musicians, nothing nearly close to this good, he is as good as you'll ever see.
I am SO stoked! Jake is playing a FREE concert on 6/28 in Schenectady's Central Park. It's the day after my birthday, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate.
The best kinds of musicians are the ones that recognize other instruments and their place in music and is able to integrate different instrumental techniques and practices into their own style and capabilities on a different instrument, and Jake is a perfect example. Love this guy!
beautiful song and I am amazed by how respectful the crowd his when he gets the point of the song where he is just even barely picking the notes and it's dead quiet.
Wow. As the song plays on you cant help but go on the journey with it. All of his movements are necessary, part of the story tellers telling of the story.
Saw 'em yesterday at the local mall-benefit for kids. Him & his brother announced new CD. I heard him do a rendition of "Time After Time (Lauper version)." The range of notes, tone, and control, tears at the heart. Keep wigglin' Jake, when you're an old fart- no more wigglin' like a teen!
WOW! How cool is this guy and how talented, I had heard about him but this is the first I have seem of him. I do not impress easily, and I am so impressed. Aloha!
I always thought it was wierd that my guitar had more strings than I had fingers for! In Jake's hands, the Uke is a superior instrument! So sweet, this song.
until you know how to play any string instrument guitar, ukelele or even violin you see that every little thing hes doing is complex ...THIS GUYS AMAZING!!!!
he plays better then the majority of guitarists out there. and he has 2 less strings and half a neck less than us too. also has more feeling then most players out there too. champion
Yeah, I saw the little logo, but still, it amazes me how this amazing performer can go so largely unnoticed, oh well... Jake is getting his fare share of attention lately, maybe because of the talk shows he goes to and all that but I wish people supported him even more, Thanks for uploading this though^^
this song shall be played on my wedding and funeral. too bad i cant be played anymore at my birth. HE'S SUCH A GENIUS!!! I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE HE'S REALLY DOING IT O___O
One of the best sounding 240p videos I've ever found!
It's 15 years later (2022) and I'm still listening to this. Great music here by a great artist!

COULD YOU IMAGINE THIS GUY ON THE GUITAR?! HIS SKILL IS INCREDIBLE. HE IS LIKE T.E ON THE UKULELE *bows to Jake*
he woudl easily be an actual Tommy Emmanuel or a Tuck Andress without doubts
Still watching this amazing video in 2020
💕
I like how the crowd cheers at first, but then they just end up sort of rapt, mesmerized, in awe. Sort of like me sitting here watching this.
Jake makes the uke seem like a guitar

Music for the soul. I go to a different world when I listen to his music...Just great.

the control he has over the instrument is incredible. The licks, tones, volumes, tempo...just perfect.
Definitely the jimmi hendrix of ukulele.

You are amazing... I've not seen anyone who handles the ukulele as passionate as you. Way to go, Jake. Good luck.
You must feel the music in order to play...he plays from the heart, thats what makes him so great

This literally brings a tear to my eye. Dude freaking whales on that thing, but also plays with such exquisite feel and tenderness. Damn!!!!
I can say with every bit of honesty that I am able to muster that I have never been so moved by a musician as I am when I listen to Jake Shimabukuro
I love the musicians like him who put all their heart and feelings into what they do. That is way more important than pure technic.
I am SO stoked! Jake is playing a FREE concert on 6/28 in Schenectady's Central Park. It's the day after my birthday, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate.

One of the most beautiful guitar plays I have EVER heard... And it's played on a ukelele... This guy is just epic...
Amazingly good with that tiny 4-string. Obviously has a special one that doesn't lose its tuning so quick like the regular ones.
absolutely, he was such an openminded and spiritful person
Wow... I got chills all over my body watching that. He really feels the music and it's always a treat to watch someone with so much raw talent.
it is so amazing how someone do so much ot of a ukulule, just like TE does with Guitars.

So great! As a classical guitarist, this gives me hope that people still like instrumental string music. 10 million stars
Wow. As the song plays on you cant help but go on the journey with it. All of his movements are necessary, part of the story tellers telling of the story.
