I’m so utterly disappointed about his terrible racism - especially after he’d started off as a liberal progressive supporter of the woman’s suffrage movement. But I’d rather know of this than not know - it’s important to know and not need to cancel him. The wonderful… should still be available and enjoyed by all - let’s let’s take the good and leave the bad why deprive ourselves of its beauty just because of the ugliness of the writer from 130 years ago? Likewise I think renaming places and things such as hotels today that were named after slave owners is wrong - instead of changing the “Sir Francis drake Hotel” to some stupid made up name that I still can’t remember it’s should have been renamed “the hotel formerly Francis drake” with the “ Sir” notably left out as a nod to his public fall from grace of his character in these modern times that way people will ask “why formerly?” Why no longer SIR? And they’d then know the reasons why But with these places having new Funky made up names no one will ask anything because there’s no hint of what they used to be called and the history of slavery is MORE likely to be forgotten to history, not less. Cancelling history does us no favours - we should be able to acknowledge the bad without losing the good. Otherwise we lose it all and forget even the bad which would make it MORE likely to happen again - not less (!)
Oh you missed the part where it was “appropriated” from the author as “The Wiz” then, with the motto “this is OURS too” 😂 (it wasnt, but y’all go ahead with your double standards and victimhood, we’re used to it at this point)
This was an excellent presentation. Thank you, PBS.
1:47:32 while screaming “appropriation” when anyone else does this 😂🎉 👏
The sheer number of commercial ad interruptions in this doc is intolerable.
Pay u tube to stop it
Apparently your time and sanity isn’t even worth 15 bux a month to you?
I saw no ads, the only interruption was ur whiney azz comment 😂😂😂
Then get premium
I notice that BUT! with Trump threat to defund PBS I dont mind that they scrap every dollar however they can.
YMMV, but I counted 17 breaks in the 1:53 video. That's a bit over 1 every 6.5 minutes.
Not PBS finding LFB's past tweets and calling him out 😅
Now I know the father of C3PO
Good presentation, but some improvement could be made by remembering to note that discussion of so-called rights only applied to whites.

vaguely disturbing, frankly (lol)
Strap yourself in for 2 hours of lectures on racial inequality, feminist woes etc - I bailed at the halfway mark!!!!
Yes, it had potential but was ruined by ideological BS by a Woman's Study Scholar.
Yeah, cover your ears and go "LALALA!' That'll help...
another history denier

@@TheMockatiel pretty heroic of you to say 'this work of fiction doesn't belong to you'
