Claremont International School organized virtual activity on National Sports Day
“The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning.”
Sports and games are an integral part of our life and have become a way of life for a healthy and fit India. Sports play a pivotal role in the makeup of a young athlete. Where else can a young impressionable youth learn values like discipline,responsibility,self-confidence,sacrifice and accountability and to remain fit?
National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th of August every year. It marks the birth anniversary of Hockey Legend, Major Dhyan Chand, who is regarded as the greatest Hockey player of all times.
To mark the significance of National Sports Day, Claremont International School virtually organised activities to inculcate the feeling of true sportsmanship among the children and to enhance their physical and social skills. A gymnastic demo and a dance was performed by few middle school students. A video premiere of the students delivering their speech about famous sports person was also the part of this event.
On this auspicious day the ground inaugration for three sports was done by the respective Chief Guest Mr. Bhimrao Bhandigire national kho kho champion, Mr. Ajit Shelke national kabbadi champion and Miss Neha Shinde volleyball player. Each of the dignitaries enlightened with their experiences and on the benefits of different sports and how the aspiring youth’s energy can be utilized in re-constructing a nation and its glory on the international front. They further highlighted that sports can develop multiple qualities like sense of togetherness, leadership skills ,stamina , planning, patriotism and teamwork.
Sports and games offer children a change from the monotony of daily life. They are also a useful means of entertainment and physical activity for them.
In the words of Louis Zamperini “That’s one thing you learn in sports.You don’t give up, you fight to the finish.”
