      I love how after discussing some pretty dark and terrifying stuff she is all beaming and bouncy when she says "see you next time, bye-bye!". Kinda like how in most Harry Potter movies whatever shit happened to main characters in the closing scenes they will always be in good spirits, smiling, cracking jokes, etc.

    I stayed here with my family when I was a little girl (early 1970's). Although I dont remember that much, our room was really crooked, with a major slope on the floor. There was a deep window sill and the window was a great temptation to me.............I can recall actually climbing out the window and onto a roof which had a little ladder against the tiles...........which I climbed up and had a quick look over the rooftops of Rye. Yes, child protection would be down on my parents, but they were down in the bar I seem to recall....................! LOL!! I dont think they ever realised! This Inn is a wonderful part of history and well worth a visit. Rye is timeless and I love the town.

    This is very cool to see a video about The Mermaid Inn. I'm a American Blinco, it's nice to see that my distant Cousin owns The Mermaid Inn. The best part of this video is the fact that it's the first time that I have ever heard my last name spoken in it's original way.

      My Blinco Family can be traced back to James Blincoe. He left England to settle in the state of Virginia in The U.S.A. in 1660. A good one hundred years before The U.S.A. became a country. We do not know where he come from in England. But, all Blencowes no matter what the name variation. Can claim that we are descendants of Adam De Blencowe of Blencow Village 1310. He is the oldest known Blencowe.

    That feeling that that guy got in the jail garden, that is what it feels like to be an Empath, you just feel when ghost, evil or good are around, but imagine those feelings all the time, then you have my life, I'm an Empath and never feel truly alone.

    Amusing that the ghost hunter was too afraid to look at the dog chasing him, that's like a big game hunter being scared of a rabbit. The girl panicking because there's a ghost there. Surely that's what they were there to see and the caretaker hears a noise and doesn't investigate? My first thought would be that someone had broken in so I would check it out.
    The Mermaid Inn looks beautiful I would like to visit there and as I only live about 80 miles away it is a possibility in the summer.

    I stayed in a little room no27 recently. I was woken by a baby grizzling away softly in a room near me, but the staff said no baby was staying with anyone that night. The television in my friends room 32 came on in the night. It's a lovely place.

    • @stefh2368
      @stefh2368 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've stayed in room 32 just this Monday night and my TV came on twice until I pulled the plug. Next night I stayed in room 16, the Elizabethan and I heard the rocking chair outside the room shortly after 2 am and someone walking about my door. I got so spooked I moved my bedding downstairs near reception and slept there for 3 hours.

      Stef H I had a rough night in room 16 two years ago. I had a knocking on my door at 3.00 am and someone pacing about outside, but no one was visible on the tiny landing. Very haunted place, very active.

    Why does the host dress like a teenager in every single episode? It’s oddly distracting for some reason. Detracts from the credibility a bit. Overall pretty good production value though and much scarier than other similar shows of this ilk. Love the mini history lesson too.

      Because most folks my age remember her fondly from kids TV in the '80s & '90s (less fondly her brief music career, lol) it's her image, she needs to keep it, so leave her alone, she's cool :) At least Timmy fricking Mallett isn't with her in this show like on kid's TV, that guy was annoying (Imagine if Alex Jones did kids TV, same energy, same punchable face).

      Darcy Thurlow give me a break. You can’t be that naive. Presenters in media have to appeal to their audience in a myriad of ways. I only commented on her rather immature outfits BC I felt like a more polished appearance might lend a bit more credibility to the subject at hand. She’s otherwise great at what she does and very likable. Mine was meant as an observation more than a criticism.

    • @jaytay8637
      @jaytay8637 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought a similar thing, posted I thought her presentation was too perky and detracted from the subject. Knowing now that she was a kids tv presenter explains it, she still seems to be addressing pre-teens, but I do enjoy the format and locations..@@JenJessup1

    the owner noes this is free advertising as many people from all over come just for the supposed ghosts. if her arm had disappeared, im sure there would of been some sort of camera evidence. also she said she had owned the place 28 years but then went on to say at the turn of the century when we first bought the place etc etc. bad acting at its finest.
