Jazz is about style, not about playing it fast or slow. The tempo in the video is what it should be imo and makes more room for the trumpet solo. Its a flowing jazz song with a walking bass, not a sprint.
Ik this is a old comment but thank you for saying this since there’s so many people here thinking they’re better because they played it faster and in all honesty to me it doesn’t sound right when played fast especially with the call and response between trumpets and saxes
This is slow compared to the most famous Count Basie recording. This is a totally different arrangement that would be easier for a High school band to play.
Put it on 1.25x speed
Thanks!

You can really groove to the bass at this speed
Can anyone tell me who the lead alto is?
leo p
1:39 to 2:10
same
Yeah my band played it a bit faster
It makes the swing aspect of it really stand out though.
Same
Play the song back at 1.25, that's what my band played it at
Kinda defeats the purpose of jazz, don't you say? Take it slow and smooth lol
Righttt
This is too slow
Its at 172 what are you talking about?
it is, but me, being the bass, I wish my BD played it this slow
U guys don't know how to play music.

We’re doing this song in high school but our tempo is around the tempo this vid is when you put it in x1.25
