    Fifth Gear is usually soft on European cars and very very tough on Japanese cars......except GT-R. EVERYBODY love GT-R, I guess that tells how good it is. Anyway, I owned 2009 FX50S and I am confident to say that it surpasses its european competitors in every way. Never underestimate Nissan's ultimate engineering ;-)

      Japanese are far better than euro automakers in every regard and jncase of Inifinity even styling. Interiors were far higher quality, cars more reliable and usually much easier to work on when needed. Desogn far more aound in regard of practicality and sensible space and packaging.
      All of those things are far worse in BMW especially of that era, long after they ditched few last good things from their 90s cars and engines became utter rubbish.
      Interior is abymal with cheap plastics and puny electronic gear selector for the autobox.

  • @RK1FX

    I have one and why I bought it? Well simple. RELIABILITY. Porsche, Range Rover, BMW dont have that. Also for every freakin option in a german car You pay double! Though I must say, the competition has its + and thats overall quality and different looks and so on. Not that im bashing the german cars, I do love them for what they are, but hate the reliability on them and the bills for repairs.

      RazorFX What is the car like so far seeing you've had yours longer?
      Don't care much for the review as even though the Infiniti competes with the cars mentioned its naturally aspirated, likely to last 4 times as long and all things considered costs half as much.
      There was a time when German cars were exclusive, now that every Tom Dick & Harry owns one why would you want to blend in by having one?

      Well my FX is running like a champ and it has around 130k miles on it. Tbh I didnt have any sort of problem with the car, but after driving it around I upgraded my brakes and calipers to big brembos. The car has really shitty brakes in my opinion.The overall quality isnt top notch, its really nowhere near German (interior wise and exterior). Some of the undercariage parts begin to rust. But other than that it never broken down on me. I drive like I stole it almost every day (ofc I let the car warm up properly and I change all my fluids when its time)....

    • @Salatiso
      @Salatiso 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RazorFX Let's keep in touch, took delivery of the car as an upgrade to the Nissan Murano.
      Personally I love it, I call it a sledgehammer in a suit because the power & grip is amazing. My brakes are fine as is all else so no need for an upgrade from my side.
      Everything is fine so far, way ahead the Murano ; technology mind-blowing and overall the car is a bargain for the price.

      @RK1FX 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still have my MK I Murano 3.5 SE AWD as a second car in the family. Great car. So You've bought a new FX? Where are You from ? Because I imported my from US to Europe. What engine did You get ? 3.7 or 5.0 ?

    • @Salatiso
      @Salatiso 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      RazorFX I must say the Murano is a great all round but underrated car, in South Africa anyway which is where I'm from.
      I bought the a 2013 5 litre model, there's no way I would have been able to afford it new. Besides they depreciate badly for the first year or 2 because Infiniti is a new brand in my country and demand is still low.

    I hate when they bash the car because it's not British. . What about the fact that it's reliable? Why don't u mention it?? Never woes about it, the fact that with just regular oil changes and basically things that all cars need, infiniti will take you past 200k miles without ever doing any major repair.. more then u could say about range rover.. face it, Japanese build better value cars and their cars are much more reliable, much cheaper to maintain. German cars are good, but who needs a 4 door car that costs more than a house. For me Lexus and Infiniti and Acura are much better choice then bmw, merc, and audi. I would chose those any say next to German.

      I have owned a 2010 FX50S since new, almost 80,000 km's on it now. Superb car. I test drove the BMW X5, and the Cayenne and thought the FX50S was the better car all around ...at significantly less money. It's been extremely reliable, ZERO warranty repairs, only scheduled services have been required, and the style is still fresh 8 years later. I don't know what she is going on about with the leather interior. My seats still look like new...and the leather wears very well. My 30 year old son borrowed it for 6 weeks recently while we were travelling and he was blown away by the features and technology in a ten year old design.
      I have mounted winter tires on 18" rims and other than the increased noise will say the daily driving characteristics of the car are better, much better, without those massive 21" tires.
      My wife drives the car too and I often ask if she would like to get something new - Hell No!!.. is her reply.

    Basically she used to be a racing driver, and thinks she knows what makes a good car. It has the awd system from a gtr with 4 wheel steering. It doesn’t need adjustable suspension, it’s a sport suv. Planted on the ground, while range rovers break down and tip over. It ain’t a car for farmers. You want an offroad car, get a pickup. Or get this, and drive it 300k miles

      These have proven reliable over the past two decades. Even the first-gen from 2003-2008 in north america hold up very well and are surprisingly reliable. the parts and service commonality with the 350Z, G35, G37 and 370Z means service issues are not a black box, and parts cost are borderline reasonable. the VQ engine series from Nissan has been an award-winner on the Ward's 10 best motors annually since the early 1990s.

    Very true. Its sad because German cars are amazing performance cars but have the reliability and electrical issues. Not to thrilling. And as much as I like Range Rovers, I have never seen a consumer report (short or long term) that gives them a good rating. Unless you are extremely wealthy and have the time to keep taking you vehicle to the dealership, then sure buy one. Time is too valuable. Plus I like the sportiness of the FX. I was extremely impressed by its handling and power.

    @vanquishman Yes, Its Infiniti's "invention", its called "Self healing Piant" a relativley new technology to the auto industry. The Scratch Shield process can take anywhere from one day to a week depending on the ambient temperature and depth of the scratch and uses special highly elastic resin. This resin is combined with a conventional clear coat to increase the paint's flexibility and strength by raising the resin density. The car is basically scar free. =)

    @Johncarson9113 Continuing on, I will say that the construction of the BMW interior is strong. Plastics ARE high quality, there is sufficient attention to detail (ambient lighting in doors, heft of doors, articulate weather stripping, sound when you close said doors, etc. I don't find these qualities on the Infiniti G, which just feels less well packaged, and like this review mentions, has parts and switches right out of the Nissan parts bin, that could have come from any Maxima.

For the most part they have been a limited global manufacturer but they have recently started to spread their brand into major market across the globe like UK & Spain. Today Infiniti is now available in 35 different countries across the globe due to its increasing popularity. They are considered to be BMW's major luxury performance contender in many market across the globe. Infiniti has been very successful in the US and has spread to other markets.

    @Johncarson9113: If people want cloth seats, let them have cloth seats. Having the option to customize your car exactly how you like it is one kind of luxury. In the US you build a set number of vehicles and then hope someone buys them, instead of building to order. Which means you guys have to chase around to find a car with the options you want in a colour you like. About Infinity; BMW alone outsells infinity 2:1 in the US. Mercedes outsell BMW.

    @Johncarson9113 I don't agree with the findings of that video. The exterior issues are due to heat without a doubt. In fact, my IS had the same weather stripping issue. My Accord has the cheap paint on the chrome surround flaking off. Inside, I've seen that same "stripping" one very car i've owned, I don't see how this is a BMW-only phenomenon. Yes, my G35, with it's awful cheap hollow plastics on the dash, had the same wear problems on the door handles, go figure.

    @tuolumne9 See this where I dont understand your point. Now I dont judge cars simply for the sake of being biased I have been an owner of both the 07 BMW 328i sedan and 09 G37 sedan. If its one thing I will walk away knowing from BMW is that quality is far from being thier strong arm. The plastics are beyond horrible, the radio display fades over time way to quickly, the door panel plastics ware off aswell, the cup holders in the dash become stuck due to heat. Exterior door trims fade aswell

    @tuolumne9 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Johncarson9113 thats wonderful, again we don't gauge quality based on feature content. You can have all the gizmos you want, but if the overall presentation and finish are poor, it ruins the deal. BMW (and every other German manufacture) may not offer features tit for tat like the Japanese do at a certain pricepoint, nor be as visually "flashy", but they get the fundamentals right - quality materials and quality construction. Close the door on any BMW and you'll know it's from Germany.

    my father owns a FX35 2003 model it has powersteering problems and engine/transmission problems one time it slipped from D to R and well imagine grinding two cheese grators together and it did not go into P or any other gear the infiniti FX35 is known to have steering and engine/tranny problems but the engine is fast and peppy and comes in handy when you are trying to out run a guy whoose road rage chasing you lets see 2006 honda cvic hybrid 4-CYL vs 2003 infiniti FX35 3.5 V6 AWD anyways the later and older model infiniti FX are better and sound great at 7800 rpm redline ;) i really reccomend them

    Infinity is a completely uncompetitive brand in Europe, prices are high but the performance, build quality, comfort and pedigree are nowhere near those of the German premium brands that this japanese frenchman wants to compete against.
    I have actually seen one Infinity on the roads, carrying dealer stickers, which is not surprising.

    Well i´m from Germany and i have to agree with @clarda1 the Infiniti fx50s is way better then i think every German SUV No Porsche or something can top it.. The Gear of the FX is so amazing

    @3n82 And on to the engine, Once again, you have no Idea what you are talking about. Are you aware you can make power without turbos?? The VQ35DE was on the top 10 engines of the WORLD for 5+ Years in a row for performance AND reliability, and what was it replaced by? THE VQ37HR making even more horsepower and being just as reliable. Im sure rich people care when there 100,000 dollar car breaks down on the interstate because bmw forgot to install proper coolign for the turbos,

    @Johncarson9113 All I can say is that if you truly believe the 3-series has poor plastics inside (and yes, i've owned one, in addition to Accords, an G35, and a Passat), then really, you should also be complaining about the interior quality of the G37, which really does have more piss poor plastics than the 3-series ever has. It's funny, I never see the automotive press harping on the Lexus RX/GX/ES for having the hard as a doordrum plastics on the doors? The BMW has soft touch materials

    the FX is better looking than the square box range rover and the BMW X5.we an all agree on that.

  • @tuolumne9
    @tuolumne9 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Johncarson9113 Again I don't agree. The interior of my Accord has shown it's age must worse than the 335 and Passat 2.0T. Leather fades, the cheap plastics get scuffed, and the paint...oh god. Infiniti is nice, I like the G35 a lot, but I stand by my own observations, which this video also touches on, that the packaging is not as strong as a German car - there are too many corners cut. I find the door heft and door sound to be the perfect example.

    It different, and thats why it will sell, I prefer the styling myself, and the only car that is roughly in the same niche is the BMW X6 which I really like esp with 4.4 V8 twin turbo. What do you expect from a big V8 AWD? It aint going to be a sports car is it? or an MPV? or frugal? She shouldve gone a little off road, on the beach and towed a trailer...then test the f'n thing!

    Compared to all the others range rover BMW and Mercedes and cayenne this is the cheapest V8 to own in terms of maintenance and longevity. To this date these are still hard to find on sale cause those who bought them are still enjoying the power while those who bought the euro V8 are on their 2nd vehicle since this one came out. LAST ONE STANDING. the last of the Best of Nissan

  • @Johncarson9113
    @Johncarson9113 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @tuolumne9 The only postive aspects of owning a BMW is its driving dynamics which is undeniably the best among the german rivals however its japanese rivals such as Infiniti performs just aswell as BMW and offers alot more power then any entry class BMW model, thier is nothing your gaining out of a BMW 3 series that you dont get in a G37 so thats just based on preference. The interior of a BMW aesthetically looks like its done simple and elegant but give it a year and it begins to deteriorate.

    @3n82 Audi is most sensible but still block-y , Sure Because sure your Camry goes through 3ft of snow and pulls a 33ft pontoon boat with 7 people safely in the truck. Sooo your Camry is?... faster? Perhaps, depending on the year it could be, but that's not what I bought the durango for, and im sure the durango would keep up with your Camry, probably just the four banger you have anyway, in that case it would rape it. Unless you have a newer camry the only thing you got o the durango is MPG.
