- I've really struggled to get out over the last few weeks so decided to revisit a day in October last year. I got very little footage on the day so shelved the film. Sometimes taking a second look can give a different perspective & I managed to find a story.
Lovely film Stewart, the wind in the reeds.
Thank you, yes, I could have had a film 10 minutes long just with the waves in the Reed beds. They were so rhythmical and hypnotic.
Lovely little film that.
Thank you.
Sorry to hear that Stewart. Great footage. Never heard of Gibraltar Point before. It reminded me of the type of conditions I've experienced on the North Norfolk coast!
Thank you very much, it's a place I try to go a couple of times a year. It's near Skegness & on a clear day you can see North Norfolk from the beach there. Run by Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust it's a great place with some great birds.
Wow Stewart challenging conditions, you did really well. Actually love the sounds on the video, made it feel like I was out in the wind with you. Some great captures. Stay safe mate.... Cheers Keith
Thanks Keith, despite the wind it was a great day but very trick to film. It was near impossible to keep the shots steady as the wind buffeted the camera. I'm glad I went back for a second look though & realised that uploads can be of any length.
A brave day to go out a nice film. Steve
Thank you Steve. Even though we didn't see much it's always a treat to go to this great reserve. The wind & sand biting your face was exhilarating, I was more concerned about my kit than myself, but it all survived.
That's pretty much my experience of the point from late August, though wind was low, sun was out but - just barren of life. A respite - day before had had record sightings and rarities, day after proved similar. But my day, after a middle of the night start and a long haul, nada. I want that day back somewhere along the way :) Visually and atmospherically gripping Stewart, maybe even moreso than if a yellow-browed perched on a fence post. Si.
Nothing worse than strong winds while trying to make a wildlife video. I always worry about dust or sand affecting my camera body or lens when it is that windy. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Yes sand is definitely a worry, I was lucky on this occasion that I had no issues. Thanks for watching.
