Hi! Just arrived from Atomic Shrimp's video on butter making by hand. Subscribed and up for learning about the Iron Age. 🌄
Edit: Brilliant! I've always preferred wood for a chopping board. As you say, the natural tannins are anti-bacterial. Plus, plastic chopping boards get cut marks in them that can hide away colonies of bacteria. Wooden boards "heal" themselves as you clean, stopping this.
Butchers use a surform like device to grind off a layer of wood at the end of the day. (Hence the sawdust on old fashioned butcher's floors.)

You stopped making videos. You have the best iron age content. :(
    Please come back.

Thank you for this, such a great video. It's the little things that help us connect with our ancestors: how they washed up, what they ate for breakfast, what they blew their nose on, what they used to help themselves sleep. Much more so than the big stuff, the monarchs, the battles, the industrial break throughs.

Thanks for the cleaning tips! Question: how do I clean the brush I used for cleaning all this? Or is that step not important for the overall kitchen hygiene? Confused in 21st century cleaning habits😅

In the past did they use anything else for brushes' hairs than hairs of pig and (what sort of) twigs?

Does someone have a picture of the originial brush? I couldn't find it on the museum website.

Hi there, unfortunately I don't have any photos of it... Typical: museum visit = day my camera decided to die. I haven't contacted them directly yet, to ask for the object photos / find's datasheet, but I really ought to. If I get it I'll post it on ny Facebook and Instagram page (and here if I can!)
