    • @Balnazzardi
      @Balnazzardi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      And she is mostly right about that. I say mostly because there are still bad things that can happen to you during your life or bad people you might meet during your life that can change you as a person even if you had good childhood and caring parents. Everything depends so much about the people around you and what kind of life you have experienced well beyond childhood and ofc if you have poor education and I mean that as poor elementary school level education that leaves you without the ability of critical thinking, then you might be more easily lead to believe in things that someone who wants to use you wants you to believe.
      So yes she has the right idea but there are so many things that can throw a person into darkness and out of balance to do terrible things even after you have lived your childhood. So thats why everyone needs good people around them throughout the life

      Beginning in January, 1918 a certain Corporal Adolph Hitler served in WWI under a Jewish officer named Hugo Gutmann. That's right, a Jew. Gutmann was impressed with that Corporal and in turn, he certainly must not have objected to serving under Gutmann, because he volunteered for dangerous mission after dangerous mission. Gutmann recommended that Corporal to receive the Iron Cross for Bravery, which was unheard of for someone of that low rank. Hitler proudly wore that medal for the rest of his life. Sorry, but Hitler's complete hatred of Jews did NOT originate in his childhood. Something happened AFTER 1918 (after Gutmann) to cause that. You can scoff at that idea, if you so choose, but you are left with the fact that Corporal Hitler was quite content with serving under a Jewish commanding officer in WWI. He even wrote in Mein Kampf that 1914 thru 1918 were the "happiest years of his life". I believe that the 'something' that caused his intense hatred of Jews may have been the Spartacist Revolt (October 1918 thru January 1919). If true, it would also explain his obsession with invading the Soviet Union. In any event, his childhood experiences did not cause his hatred of Jews.
      A final footnote: Hugo Gutmann was arrested by the SS in 1938. When they found out who he was, they released him and advised him to leave Germany, which he did. His life is another story.

    "They didn't succeed in making me a victim"
    I wish this was the reality of everyone who faced past horrors like the genocide. Feeling like a victim your entire life prevents you from completely moving on. You sometimes wonder if you are indeed not lesser than.
    I am genuinely happy that she managed to escape such a damaging mentality.

    You are an inspiration for me to remember how significant it is to treat children well. I suppose this is because I was treated well as a child. Now imagining that there likely will always be children who aren't treated well due to the fact there are adults raising children who weren't treated well as children and so the cycle goes on. Your understanding of others bad behaviors has made me happy to know you, hear your truth. Thank you for sharing yourself with us/me.

    chills down my spine...
    That was common knowledge but she worded it so well. And, even after all that she went through and saw, her last sentence was an understanding on her part of how her oppressors turned out to be, was maybe not entirely their fault. Don't know if I could ever be like that, in her shoes so...hats off to her.👏

    There is a deep desire by many to make sure people don't forget this ghastly chapter of History. One mistake they make, especially with the young, is not giving them a sense of time the young usually don't have. In school, the wartime footage with all its attendant limitations was so poor (and black and white), it seemed insanely old. Happily, modern technology has cleaned-up a lot of this and, "World at War" has never looked better.
    However, if I was teaching a class on this subject, the first thing I would show the class would be clips of The Wizard of Oz. It is clean, bright, colorful, and made about the time Hitler moved on Poland. It would make the creaky footage of the war that would follow much more immediate.
    This is only one strategy, but the young don't have a perspective of time until later in life...which means you have to find creative ways of introducing them to the concept: "This isn't as ancient as you think it is!"

      @bonzodog67lizardking15 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @Alice Rabbit+ You're still not on the right page. My point was a person's perception of time changes as they grow. Scratchy old WWII footage by its nature alone tends to distance the student from the material. So, for the kid you are teaching, it's likely he or she will respond more immediately to color; (The Wizard of Oz.)
