The history of Skip is kind of interesting. It was one of the studios founded from the remains of Love de Lic, a studio of several Square designers that disbanded in 2000. The games Love de Lic put out were all weird and interesting. The main companies they became were Skip, Vanpool and Punchline. The first 2 became Nintendo partners and Punchline kind of fell to the wayside after their cult hit, Chulip. Skip was founded Kenichi Nishi but he has a history of not staying with a company for too long. Which happened after the original only for him to return with Captain Rainbow, which has a similar tone to Chibi Robo. Anyhow, a lot of the staff left over the years with some going to the more stable Vanpool. A couple years ago, several of the original Love de Lic people came together to form Onion Games which continues their tradition pf weird games like Black Bird and Dandy Dungeon and rereleasing one of Love de Lics works, Moon (which partially inspired Undertale)
I would say that this game definitely has some charm. While Drake Redcrest’s design is... questionable, a lot of the other npcs are actually quite fun, memorable, and have cool designs.Take Ketschburg and Mostardin: they’re a eccentric duo that are quite hilarious sometimes, especially with their animations. Likewise, we have a talking sponge(Joshy bear) and the lion statue Laroque. The dev team definitely deserves points for creativity and character design. Furthermore, the music in this game is great! Finally, the graphics are quite good! Have you seen the garden level? It’s gorgeous, and has really great lighting. Yes, it’s not as colorful in areas, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I respect your opinion, but I don’t think it deserves being written off as “soulless”. It’s not perfect, yes, but in my book, it’s still a decent game.
I know the reason why Telly is a phone in the game because if there are multiple versions of Chibi Robo’s, which was confirmed in the first game, that means there are multiple versions of Telly which is why he looks different in each game
I really wonder what the behind the scenes lore is for chibi robo with the mysterious red hallway in photo finder and the post apocalyptic wasteland (assumingly) in clean sweep that's never touched on I wonder if it's supposed to foreshadow some sort of dark standalone chibi robo story where chibi robo unintentionally outlives humanity and needs to survive on its own it really makes me wonder what the plan was for this series that is if it's not dead yet
It's from a promotional book called the "Chibi-Robo Happy Book". It was given out at certain events in Japan to promote the release of the first game. :) Here's a link to a scan of the book: drive.google.com/file/d/1_oMp0hWnQwcwz-2uO1ZdXBiNSZLSj55l/view
I remember playing the demo when I first got my 3ds and I loved the cute rooms you roamed around in and realistic art style, but after playing the original on GameCube I understand why it’s so hated, I don’t think it’s because of as much of the sounds as you make it seems, the sounds are annoying in the original chino robo, that aspect being more realistic is a good thing in my opinion.
I loved the original Chibi-Robo game and when I saw Photo Finder weeks ago on the eShop, I decided to give it a shot... how wrong I was after playing it. It has potential but the fucking built-in camera sucked so bad, it made the main part of the game, taking pictures to create NostalJunk, completely unplayable. I gave up playing after just getting the second room of the museum unlocked because of how boring the whole experience was. Gonna delete the game on my 3DS to restore space for much better games.
I laugh so much from taking photos of Shrek and Garfield it was beautiful and if you didn’t show me that anything works I wouldn’t had such an experience
Nuff wank is the best thing to come out of this game. Also, I know what a tea bag is. It just wasn't the first thing I thought of when I saw that silhouette.
I honestly care more about what u said at the beginning. The Gamecube Ds and Wii era was when Nintendo wasn't afraid of anything, and tried new things. It's not just the Gamecube, in fact, the Wii was probably more expirimental. I mean motion controls, an actual story in mario, car mechanic in Mario Party 9, the Wii remote/ nunchuck, ect ect. And the DS was 2 screens on one handheld which was unheard of at the time, and nobody thought that would work, but it surely did. Even the DSI went crazy. And the 3ds not as much. I'd say that Nintendo stopped being creative at the Wii U era, then started a bit once the Switch came out. During 2012 - Present, Nintendo only goes with ideas that they only knew would work. I still can't believe you said the Wii was not expirimental. So i kinda disliked the video tyvm
Any thoughts on the Coppa-FTC and youtube stuff? I have been asking/warning people to take a look into it. Well, people I watch anyway, because I don't want people like you to be blind sided by these odd laws and new rules.

Honestly, this game will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been doing a playthrough of it recently.

jak i can't tell if you printed out the garfield pictures just for this game or you legitimately had them lying around and honestly im scared
They looked like they were on a computer. It was probably the flashlight.
@@Dat1snivy *fleshlight. Garfield Fleshlight.
This game is so underrated! I'm playing it right now
I remember playing this game all the way to the credits, and I enjoyed it.
Me too I also hade a lot of meme photos
Like what?
I remember playing the demo of the game wishing that I could get it.
3:14 In the future, everyone will use bidets.
The original sorely needs a switch port
4:53 It's a tea bag you goof!
I feel like such a clown now...
Yeah like... duh!
Great video Jak! I never played Photo Finder but I really enjoyed your discussion of it!
I know the reason why Telly is a phone in the game because if there are multiple versions of Chibi Robo’s, which was confirmed in the first game, that means there are multiple versions of Telly which is why he looks different in each game
4:52 a frickin gravestone?
OH I called it!!!
4:50 thought that was like one of those longer yellow envelopes lol
This at least was a 3d game. Zip Lash however what was that?
Thumbs up all the way! Can't wait for the next video.

Well it is forgettable for the fact I never knew this existed.
Okay, what website or art book has those amazing concept art pictures at 6:37?
Can you give the link?

@@Jakstalgia Wow thanks Dude!! (✿◠‿◠)
Photo finders music though!! It sounds like Q Tip and isao tomita had a baby lol

I think the more realistic and modern look for the Artstyle fits to chibi robo. But yea, the colorfull cartoony Artstyle is better
Homebrew makers: we cannot make it for old 3ds because the hardware isn't enough.
Meanwhile Chibi-robo graphics:
4:53 MY TOUMBSTONE
I love all the Garfield here.
I still don't get what you actually do in this game. I feel like you could've explained the structure of it a little better.
I actually had a lot of fun killing time with this game, I found it really fun to make drawings and use those as the shapes

As far as I know, the Redcrest in Photo Finder is Redcrest Jr.; so he is not supposed to be the exact same character.
Chibi Robo hit depression in highschool
4:53I think it's a tea bag
Why didn’t Nintendo make a cartridge of this game
How can this game be forgettable, we got mr. Nuff Wanks from it after all
Also dude how can you not know what a teabag is, seriously
Nuff wank is the best thing to come out of this game.
Also, I know what a tea bag is. It just wasn't the first thing I thought of when I saw that silhouette.
Aw ok, fair enough
Why is your name rayquaza, but you have a Picture of Giratina? Its spelt wrong as well btw...
this game was legendary to me
Holy crap Chibi-Robo predicted the corona virus.
in the future they all use bidets
A tea bag maybe?
3:10 oh no.
That's clearly a teabag.
I thought the tea bag was an SD card.
Glad I'm not the only one who couldn't tell it was a tea bag at first.
I would have guessed it was a shogi piece that had to be localized for a Western market, but even that doesn't really fit
4:53 Teabag?
Oh wait you knew it was a teabag, sorry :P
This is why you don't comment before watching the video
If Insomniac Games stayed 3rd Party. I’d trust them to do a Chibi Robo game to save the series
Why, there's games styles are completely different, Nintendo needs the original chibi robo back, we need this serie's charm back.
Garfield LOL😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂
I ACTUALLY GUESSED TEABAG HOW.
3:11 hurts me
Imagine this game had been made for mobile phones...it would have done so much better.
*nuff wanks*
Great to see you here, hope misc. becomes the true spiritual successor to chibi robo
I still play this game lol I found it on the eshop.
Toilet paper doesn’t exist in the future
*HMMMM?*
those japanese contest pages are getting snapshotted on archive.org as i speak 🙂
I just got this game becus of my nintendo 30% or 50% discount. I liked it, not anything amazing, but a fun game
How exactly did you get that and use it on a 3ds? 🧐
@@cosmicXtropics At the time there were discounts for some wii U and 3ds games available at my nintendo that you could get by using the silver coins
