This video features the rare beehive fireplace, beautifully restored by MnDOT's Historic Roadside Properties and Waysides Program. There are closeups of the new metal grills, mortar, and replaced stones. It also shows 10 picnic tables in the picnic area, recently rebuilt in Graeser Park from stone salvaged from Lilac Way parks that were lost to road construction. All of the work done by EAI Historic Stone Restoration meets national standards for historic preservation. The community is thrilled to see this park come back to life. After MnDOT's fiscal year 2023 preservation phase, they will be ready to convey the land to the City of Robbinsdale. Length: 03:40.
All restoration and preservation work by MnDOT in 2021-2023 was designed and constructed according to Secretary of Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
