Greetings from Romania ! For those of you who want to fish them with a rod, they are crazy after fermented corn! You can find plenty different recipes about how to ferment the corn on you tube and how to use it afterwards.
The government should put a cash bounty on these guys or theyll become 50% of the biomass in the St Lawrence and great lakes in a couple decades. Really great video guys thanks for raising awareness.
Crazy too think about how these fish could ruin Quebec's water if they were too breed.

I may have seen one in the Chambly canals. It was so big, dark and gnarly I thought it was a snapping turtle at first. Confirmed it was giant carp and watched as it just lumbered around the surface.

I fished for huge carp in a weir beside the Welland Canal as a kid. Every day they would make their way up to the weir bridge to feed. You could easily see them. Doughballs with worms worked best. I would trade the fish for pizza and DQ treats with the Americans who came to fish in Port Colborne. You needed 20lb test to land them, the biggest I caught was 4ft. I had one fishing pole ripped out of my hands when a Sturgeon took the bait. Excellent video.

I live in the revoere des milles iles area in laval. I am 50 now. When i was a kid , leaving the shore, you had to row the boat at least 20 to 25 feet to get across the lily pads and water grass. Now, there's no vegetation around the shore of the intier laval island! Dont know if it has something to do with those carps.. It's really hard to find bass when there's no vegetation !🤷♂️✌️👍👌♥️🐟🎣

In retrospect, I think I have seen one of these in the Lachine Canal. I fish there a lot and there was one carp that I saw several times that was larger than the other carp, darker, and had that upside down face. This was in 2021 or 2022 but I haven't seen one since then.

Conservation efforts are being made like this, Michigan on the other hand allows speargun harvesting of game fish in the Great Lakes.. not all conservation is equal . Thanks for the hard work on our ecosystem guys!

i have some dificulty understanding why are these carps different from the protected golden carp . It seem to be grass carp, eating greens like al the carps I know. I remember as a threat the chinese carp and steel head carp, two non indigenous species that were decimating the eggs and youngsters of other species. I did not hear about them for a while. Is that problem solved?
They were considered invasive at first. They are now out of control. Same for the Tench and goby. These Asian carp are new enough that we still have a fighting chance.
@@savagefishing8133 so if out of control...what can be done? why there is no campain to promote this good protein and instead we pay money to promote insects as food. Eg in the North of Europe the King Crab was invasive at some point, dunno what happened, as in other areas that crab is a premium catch
@@Grundewalt I can't answer that question as I have no idea what to tell you. In some fisheries, gobies are the reason behind trophy fish, especially smallmouth. They are also responsible for eating many of our fish's eggs... How can we get rid of them all though? Part of the reason they are hard to control is because if you told people to kill them it is difficult to ID them. People already kill common carp all the time because they think that they are Asian carp. Your average fisherman can not differenciate one from the other.

carp have been given the title as a trash fish throughout most of North America. The best way to explain it I guess is that people love to believe rumours as opposed to finding out themselves. I myself have never tried carp.

Great Video, loved it. The color of the fish looks like one of the triploid "golden" grass carp they used to sell at aqua Tropical and other stores ( I had one in my koi pond that i euthanized when it got too big). The disconcerting thing is there were more than one of them , can't wait to hear scientific results.
Invasive species are a problem - I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one Wels catfish in the Lac St. louis area of the St. Lawrence river. It was way too big to be one of the local species and it looked like what i saw on the TV show river monsters.
Very interesting observation. Thanks for your input! Luckily here it gets cold enough to get rid of most invasive species that get dumped but of course some survive.

I doubt it. I've never heard of that but I'm not 100% sure, you'd have to research it.

There have also been sightings of grass carp in the Chambly basin.
I've seen them in multiple bays on Lake of two mountains.
Hey there! I have been bowfishing all that area for the last 6-7 years and now that their presence is confirmed I can say that I am 100% sure I have shot a bunch of them. I knew they were found in Chambly's bassin but didnt really thinking they would be in Vaudreuil at all. The first carp that caught my eye was propably summer 2019. At first I thought it was just a really big carp...

In BC the ministry of environment introduced NON-NATIVE Carp and Bass into numerous lakes...NOW WE HAVE A PROBLEM
Rod reel and some floating bread would get them easy.

Just saw 4 MASSIVE 20-50 lb Asain carp together in Georgian Bay at 2am while out on my paddleboard.. 5 years ago, there were tons of pike, gar, bass and dogfish... This year I only saw carps, and 1 small musky and dogfish in 3 days of scouting the shore (I caught the musky with a net lol) I had one of the massive carps in my net but it escaped before I could bring the net up.

In which water you can catch these monsters back in my home country i was catching tham and it is fun fight but never got that big one i can help to get rid of few of tham if i know where to catch tham
