      I would react the same way, in an sublime act there's the oportunity to express yourself and maybe learn something or even find love. Props 2.

    I love this song and the story behind his writing of this song.
    January 2022, New Orleans voted to name "Allen Toussaint Blvd" in his honor. Like Mr Toussaint, it is one of the most beautiful streets that runs near the southern shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans, LA.
    Thank You to Mr Toussaint, for all the music and joy you brought into this world. May your music and legacy live on for generations. 🎹 💕 🎶

    Wow, oh WOW! Had never heard of Allen Toussiant, what a talent! Glad I searched for the songwriter of the tune made famous by Glen Campbell. Now I’m searching for more tunes by Allen 😊

      There is an excellent show on public radio called American Routes. They did an excellent tribute show when Allen Toussaint passed. I highly recommend it!!

    Brilliant - it's amazing how you completely miss these geniuses. 'Working down a coalmine' has always been a favourite but didn't realise it's part of a whole host of songs written by a master. Since the programme ended tonight I've just spent a fabulous 2 - 3 hours watching anything to do with Allen Toussaint. Thanks to Hugh Laurie/BBC for highlighting.

      Same here. Just discovered this guy while watching James Dean Bradfield in a Songwriters Circle episode. He was watching James perform the song Faster and one shot of him showed his face that said he was in awe of the lyric of that song. Music spans all generations 🤘🤘🎧🎶❤️❤️❤️🎵🎼🎼

    I may be wrong, but it seemed like Mr.Toussaint started off with a "sadder" rendition of his song (see other versions on the Internet), sensed the people in the audience didn't like that, and switched misplaying into an upbeat version of the song...What incredible genius!

    • @teh_hunterer
      @teh_hunterer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Highly doubt he sensed the audience didn't like it and switched to playing it a different way. He would have planned that switch and probably rehearsed it a dozen times.

    I know that British people are reserved, but jeez! You have one of the most talented musicians from western music's most unique city and, I don't know, they didn't seem to get into it that much. Just quietly staring like they don't know who he is. Obviously Jools knows what's up.
