    Diesel electric propulsion. Not new. I was on a 1939 tug that had it. I did not have the pods, used a shaft driven by 4 DC electric motors. It had 3000 shaft hp.

    A Great Invention And Investment in Steering Technology, One does ask is their need for a Back Up Rudder System.
    On another Front and I would be keen to know if anyone has put a name to the Following.
    I am probably Presumtous on this as well but Vessel Fitted With Aqua Planes each Side of Vessel which can be Retracted and Extended given the Ocean Conditions.
    Two Bow, Four Amidships and Two Stern and on Each Side and Enabled with Latest Computer Technical to read the Movement of the Ocean beneath the Vessel and in Turn Each Aqua Plane in an Individual Manner with Computer making Split Second Decisions to how each Plane is to be Angled at for ease of Movement and possibly more Stability
    Control in Rough Weather.
    In the Case of an Aircraft Carrier the Launch and Retrieve Sequence means into the wind but when it's tough and rough maybe these could provide a Unique Perspective in Handling the Vessel.
    It's probably been thought of and I have only just thought about it myself and worked out the Engineering Basics for such A Computerized System but one which good assist also Cruise Liners and Container / Bulk carrying Vessel's.

      One method for sealing is positive fill with oil. Thus no airspace to counter pressure.

    • @joeKisonue
      @joeKisonue ปีที่แล้ว

      A new seal design addresses redundancy, with four different lip seals against water and two against the bearing oil chamber. This arrangement separates the seal packages for water and bearing oil seals, ensuring only a theoretical possibility of water leakage into the bearing or into the sea.
