I swapped to Reolinks doorbell POE and works great. Would recommend, although very rarely it does seem to not relay the button press or a visitor. I wonder if it's restarting or updating or something? That is incredibly rare, though.
So far none of the cameras I've reviewed would be good enough quality for me to record an actual video on! Lots of compression, low quality audio, and usually a low frame rate all optimised for catching the action using as little storage space as possible. The resulting footage would upset my eyes during editing alone...
It does look like a very interesting option, but I'm on a HA-local-only kick lately and would prefer something that doesn't involve the cloud at all. Think I'll check out your Reolink video next. 🙂
Fair enough, Reolink is definitely worth looking at in that case - I’ve gone all in with Reolink with local Home Assistant integration being one of the main reasons
Don't you use Home Assistant? You could add Blue Iris or Frigate to do the NVR stuff? It's nice to have the local in camera memory card as a redundancy for if Frigate/HA fails.
The fact that all local feeds are blocked or disabled, makes it a non choice for me. I have a CB8 for my garden and it performs OK'ish but I wouldn't buy another one.

I have the Reolink Wifi doorbell and it's great. Not noticed it missing any bell press alerts at all - it did great over Halloween!
Please produce a video using these smart security cameras only.
Thanks!

@@SpeakToTheGeekTech That's part of the fun!

"if Frigate/HA fails" is the very reason I prefer a consumer-grade NVR over something I've lashed together! Much more wife-friendly to use too!
Great video, but alternatives to Hikvision would be preferable for sure
I've been looking in to all sorts of alternatives, check out my other videos for some other products I've looked in to.

I do wish their system was a bit more open locally yes.
