Love it, great video and Matriceal mode is as amazing as it's intimidating. Understood quite few new things watching this, been playing with it myself, still learning all the parameters. Very easy to get too busy like you say. The permutations are practically infinite but easy to manipulate at the same time. Love it.
What a way to kick off ones day .. listening to an upbeat mix of beats!! ... Cheers to all things musical ... those that bring the magic into the light ..
WOW! I skipped over Matriceal Mode and went straight for multitrack which is pretty awesome with random and piano roll just added, but this is another level of creativity! Perfect explanation into what it does, I'm going to need to get familiar with it.
I'm not good at these suggestions especially seeing as whatever my suggestion might be, it might already be able to do lol - I still feel like i'm just scratching the surface of this thing.
Great video Liam! How do you rate Matriceal vs the Stochastic sequencer? I love using the Stochastic sequencer on bass lines for improvising melodies in tune to a chord sequencer. I need to explore Matriceal mode deeper
I bought the oxi one back when it was a kickstarter which was a bit risky, but I’m glad it worked out. It’s refreshing to see a company that is constantly trying to improve their product. Great video, hoping to spend more time with mine and really learn it this winter.
Doesnt it feel like a overkill to have a DT and Oxi one combined. Normally a lot of people like the sequencer on the DT. I like the creative side on the Oxi but im not sure if its an overkill and just replace the DT with lets say a TR8s. Whats your take on this?
The sequencer on the DT is great and there are little nooks and crannies where it's still the superior sequencer SPECIFICALLY for its own built in workflow. But the Oxi One vs the Digitakt's sequencer ... like there's just no comparison - Oxi One destroys and they're dropping updates ALL the time.
The black Oxi One is the only version that has the black square inside the buttons, with only the outlines lit up. The original grey, and all the other versions have the buttons fully lit up.
I borrowed the OXI from a friend for a couples weeks and found it to be the most confusing sequencer I’ve used. I really wanted to like it but ended up hating it. I still want to like it… but know if I’d still hate it. Too many different color blinking lights, pages, thought the button bling wasn’t clear. I don’t know, just not smart enough to run one.
@@LiamKillen got it, pipe and split. It is a great sequencer, I am bit of a sequencer freak, and prefer analog sequencers but for now, Oxi, Circon, Hapax and Ecloquencer in combo with Octatrack and other electron stuff do the job.
I've been seeing some recent videos praising the Polyend Play and it's new updates. Have you had a chance to use it? I'd really like to know how it compares to the Oxi One. Super cool video by the way. Love what ya do!
@@LiamKillen Have you trie it ? I wonder how I can use the Oxi with samples and how many of its functional options you can use with samples in your Daw …Can you explain for me :)?
I'm waiting for a ' buy one get one free ' offer so that i can have the free one so i'm looking for a volunteer to make the initial purchase.Looks like my GAS hasn't quite dissipated yet despite the aversion therapy.Someone once said " What is the most difficult challenge a human being can face in their entire lifetime ? " to which i replied " Buying just ONE synth - it's virtually impossible ! "
Why do these sequencers limit the steps in a sequence? Why not a hundred thousand steps? Repetition only serves toward the destruction of a song. The best songs out there rarely repeat more than twice. These sequencers only serve to make 5 second intervals, and those 5 second intervals are not songs. They only serve as stop signs on the road toward a song.
almost every video i find about the oxi 1 is playing random fills, i bought the ox1 and hate it. i can generate random sequences for a lot less than $800
You never mentioned what that mode is and what it does. You also didn’t say what all the buttons do. You just said the mode then started pushing buttons then said now you should have a good idea of how it works…..What lol. This tutorial is obviously for someone who knows what that mode is and how to use it. More of a tips for metrical mode users. Show this video to a friend who’s never heard of this instrument and see if they understand
At the beginning of the video I mentioned that Oxi instruments did a video on their own channel which is a much more technical A to B approach- it’s also linked in the description of this video lol. Could not have been clearer about it 🤷♂️
@@LiamKillen @SvenFx-22 Idk, I don't own one, I've literally seen 5 videos on the oxi and I kind of understood this, and it's very complex. The only thing I didn't get was wether you can actually program something in a traditional model and then modulate it with matriceal mode. I guess yes? The bass pattern changed a bit too much for me to get it.
Yeah I am weary of all the smaller less established instrument makers, I am glad the products exist but I would rather not be a beta tester. I think Toso also released a sequencer around the same time as this and they are now releasing a sampler which they are selling for preorder without even as much as a demo. So that tells me they might not even have a working one yet or one that is close enough to the finished product that they could show us. Yuck. With that said the OXI one looks really cool but it's very expensive.
7:27 Watching these cubes moving is something mesmerizing 💆♂️
I know exactly what you mean 😏

Super deep feature. You're really finding your way around this thing. Thanks for the in depth walk-through.
It's my pleasure - yeah i'm using it like ALL the time still. PS you might be down for my Discord community ! Here's an invite: discord.gg/xj8J2xJuBP
Awesome Liam!
Thanks Manuel! 😊
You guys have really done something needful in the music space. Sincere regards from an owner of two Oxi Ones.
Damn, that pattern is fire, Liam. Very stoked for my Oxi to arrive next week.
Thanks for watching! :-)
Really nice video Liam! Picked up my Oxi One yesterday and all I can say is it’s just amazing, better than the Pyramid IMHO
Thanks for watching! 😊

Yeah matriceal is my fav part of the sequencer
I'm going to have to rewatch this and Oxi's vids a few times lol Thanks Liam!
Yeah it takes a second to learn haha - enjoy!
Excellent work! Thank you for the tips 👊🏼
Always a pleasure
Love this video - matriceal is so easy to get lost in the sauce.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Great video, Liam! What features would you like Oxi to add with a future firmware update?
I'm not good at these suggestions especially seeing as whatever my suggestion might be, it might already be able to do lol - I still feel like i'm just scratching the surface of this thing.
@@LiamKillen I feel so too, as it's incredibly complexed for such a compact device!

I could not recommend Matriceal mode more honestly. Thank you for watching! :-)
If anyone is wondering this also works inside the daw with your favorite vsts…. And your iPad. And your iPhone.
I actually have a video coming out on that as well 😏

Yeah they drop updates like crazy
I may end up getting the black version of the OXI...the squares seem easier on the eyes and to follow than the blocks of color...

Thanks for this. Made it make a bit more sense...! Won't take too long to get it. But nice explanation as yes first time I got in too many notes lol
Glad to help and thanks for watching :-)
Why do some oxi ones have the square outline led on the grid, but some have the full led backlight?
Maybe it's an update thing ? I'm not sure.

That would be super hard to keep track of ! I would suggest taking a look at step conditions, which is much easier to digest / visualize.
