- Welcome to our first railfan video - Union Pacific Laramie Subdivision - Crossing Sherman Hill
As we transition from the Great Plains prairies around and over the Laramie Mountains in Southeast Wyoming with the ever-changing landscape on the Union Pacific's Overland Route, the First Transcontinental Railroad.
We added the Wyoming/Nebraska border to the Laramie Subdivision which starts in Cheyenne to Rawlins Wyoming. You'll see trains passing through deep cuts, over fills, through the legendary Hermosa Tunnel and more as trains travel over Sherman Hill.

Bufford
Harriman

Would of been amazing in steam days.....
Thank you! Rode whichever line there that is more mountainous, on the back porch of a bulk loader; but didn’t see much besides army tanks on a siding, and a Continental Divide sign, because it was snowing!
Really appreciate the lack of jump cuts!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Ya they don't do no 75MPH more like 45 MPH. I have chased the Big Boy to Pines Bluff...I know. Long gone are those High Balls runs!
Damn Michael, just this video alone is worth the subscription. Number 153. Thanks for putting in the work to make this.
Kinda surprised this video has not been as big a hit as just the tunnel video. Hard to understand what people would rather see?
Thanks airing The outstanding video with magnificent locomotives. Endeavors are prominent. Bliss
WOW!! Great sights and sounds of the railways. You have a LOT of patience to put in the hours to capture, research, and edit all of this into a great presentation.
Thank you very much!
Why the zigzag in the road going into Cheyenne from the east? Why not a straight line?
I haven't been out there since the Centennials roamed the rails and I lived nearer. Nice job all around. You have me thinking about a return visit now!
Thanks, is pretty country around here.
Nice!
Thanks
Great video.
I like your narrating
Thank you
I have inlaws just outside of Phoenix ; In the White mountains!, Westbound,Phoenix is a common point for crew changes.UP is the
first one that croosses the country!
Shpw
How did you get to Hermosa tunnel? We tried in 2022 and couldn't figure it out.
Was an extremely rare and lucky opportunity to be granted a very short access.
@RailFan Enthusiast Oh, is it private property? I thought you could take the county road
Sadly it is on private property, not on any county roads. Access by the few disrespectful have ruined it for many railfans.
@@railfanenthusiast6792 Oh 😕. Thanks for the info
I remember a few years ago. There was a derailment on a two track bridge in Phoenix.,with a fire.
They thought the heat that day warped the ribbon rail which put it on the ground. There were a few tank cars hanging. It is rare that UP has derailments on this stretch; whitch is on straight gauge
Nice catches and scenery! Great video!
Thank you very much!
