After playing through Shinovi Versus and Peach Beach Splash, while having the misfortune (imo) of watching the second anime series. I feel that there is too many characters in the series. Personally I think that they should have focused more on the original two clans as the Hebijo and Gessen clans later feel more like obstacles for the other two clans. Lacking a lot of the depth set up in the original game and original anime. Because the focus is now all over the place with so many characters (plus those added in Estival), no one really gets much spotlight. That is something the original series (anime and 3DS games) did not have much of an issue with. At least give some more screentime to new Hebijo, as they seem undercooked in the media. I just finished the game and it was great actually but I’m a little bit confused in the story what really happened was it the hanzo girls that defeated the hebijos or was it hebijo girls that the defeated hanzo
If you play Estival Versus, you will learn that the Senran Kagura universe has multiple timelines, and that all of the endings are more or less "canon". Nevertheless, when it comes to the "true canon" of the timeline that we are following, all you really need to know is the following: 1. Hanzo and Hebijo fought 2. All 10 girls survived their fights and reconciled with their rivals. 3. During the midst of all of this, the Hebijo girls got absorbed by Orochi. 4. Asuka fought Orochi on the outside while Homura fought Orochi from the inside. 5. The battle with Orochi left Hebijo destroyed. 6. At some point before the final battle between Asuka and Homura, Homura supposedly killed Dogen (although in both the timelines that led to Shinovi Versus and the timelines that led to SK2: Deep Crimson, Dogen actually survived this attack from Homura). 7. After the battle with Orochi, due to Homura having "killed Dogen", Homura decided that she would become a renegade (knowing that she could not return to Hebijo after having killed a prominent Hebijo investor). The other Hebijo girls decided to stick with Homura and become renegades along with her.

When you're forced to play different characters, an unbalanced cast is a boon, imo, as long as the game is designed around it. Dash canceling means you barely have to learn combo nuances. Idk how much that matters in Senran Kagura, but action games with instant dash canceling often feel... formless to me, if that makes sense.
@@TheSonic497 It does matter! In the same way the physics of Mario matters even though it's not a physics puzzle platformer, action games of all kinds need to carefully consider the commitment of moves and framedata and stuff. That's like saying a poet doesn't have to know much about language because they aren't writing prose; the rules aren't as strict, the lines of execution are blurrier, but they're fundamental. In a game with dash canceling, the later attacks in combos have to offer proportional reward to their commitment. Otherwise it's just... I could go further, but I hope we can agree that game design matters in anything that requires as much continuous input as a beat-em-up.
@@cantrip7 Its a single player game, so there's no need to balance shit that doesn't matter. Nobody is going to complain that X character has more broken moves than other X characters, because by the end of the game, it doesn't matter what difficulty or how broken the characters are, since the game is just a cakewalk from here on out. Everything works and gets the job done, it would matter a lot more if the game turned unplayable, but since that's not the case, who fucking cares.
@@TheSonic497 I'd rather not spend 60 bucks on mediocrity, and I don't intake media as cynically as you do. Is wanting games to be good and well designed, like, controversial? Am I saying something crazy here? Why does it being single mean it doesn't have to try? Are single player games worth less?
@@cantrip7 Not wanting bad games is not the point dipshit, you're just making a problem out of something that's not one to begin with. Dash cancelling has been in the games since Shinovi, and nobody complains that characters are broken, because in a single player game, who cares? It's just more power to you. If it's as problematic as you make it out to be, wouldn't there be fixes or something by this point? If anything, moves from previous games were changed, but that's probably a case from wanting to keep things somewhat different than previous hames, rather than characters needing buffs or nerfs. I can only think of one time where a character needed an update, and got it, and that was Hibari from Shinovi to Estival, since Hibari had a death combo. If it was as problematic as you make it out to be, then why are people not talking about the DLC characters. Seriously, Daidouji, Ayane, Kagura, or the Ikkitousen characters from Estival are broken beyond anything, that the main characters don't mean shit anymore. But hey, do whatever the fuck you want.
I just checked steam. The Gessen Character set is free atm but still hasn't been out for a week yet. It will likely cost money in 2 days time. Characters like Miyabi and Yumi and their content are past their 1 free week and cost $6.69 CND a piece.
Yeah, that price isn't gonna last. This will likely be 6.69 (If not more) when its free period ends as well. That means, once you add all current DLC, the game will still have less content than EV, and cost over 20 dollars more. It's a bit of a rip comparatively.
Anime tits the action game lol. Admittedly, I have not played these games as I fear they will have little substance other than bouncies. I'll give this one a shot though and hope my assumption is not correct.
I know that your comment is a year old now, so I'm late but... Your assumption is not correct at all. The Senran Kagura series actually has some deep and serious lore. Sure there is fanservice mixed into it, but I honestly don't see why everyone has such a big problem with fanservice these days. I mean seriously... Who cares if you see some breasts while the girls are talking about a serious threat to the world? Whether you see the breasts or not, either way the serious plot point is still there, so I don't see why people act like fanservice takes away from the plot.
How surprising, they didn't try to censor the shit outta this game with the taunting of Ibari like they did with Street fighter V Mika special attack. Just for that, I have more respect for that company than I will ever have for Capcom... that and the fact that they didn't release the game without the story mode, without most modes outside of the fights online only and all that crap. The microtransactions though would be more than enough to prevent me from getting into this game in the first place, it just looks empty.
DLC and no intimacy mode, it doesn’t bother me but it’s good to know the gameplay is still good
On PS4. On Steam, Intimacy is a go... As is DLC.
That Phantom of the Opera song sent chills down my spine when I heard it here. It just seemed so out of place.

But will it come uncensored to the switch?
I hope it comes at all, we don't have to worry about censorship though
hahaha I loved the part about the Anthem demo! :D
the characters dlc are free now
IIRC they were supposed to be free for 1 week, then go back to paid, did they decide to make them perma-free?
I just checked steam. The Gessen Character set is free atm but still hasn't been out for a week yet. It will likely cost money in 2 days time. Characters like Miyabi and Yumi and their content are past their 1 free week and cost $6.69 CND a piece.

Yeah, that price isn't gonna last. This will likely be 6.69 (If not more) when its free period ends as well. That means, once you add all current DLC, the game will still have less content than EV, and cost over 20 dollars more. It's a bit of a rip comparatively.
#FranticMode Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy... lol. Not having online play seems like a big flaw in a game like this.
Nobody plays these games online, anyways. Peach Beach Splash was an obvious multiplayer driven game, but online has been dead for it since the start.
Does Senran Kagura qualifies as Waifuware?
So Sony censors games like this? I mean compared to Dead or Alive this is still pretty tame right?
@@aaronwatson1432 no, but too much fanservice can spoil a good series. It's possible.

AND HOW OLD ARE THESE GIRLS HMMMM ????
Depends on which region you're playing tbh...
Some are legal.
I heard that their teenagers, age 16 or 17?
@@groovywoovy4136 Excluding the full grown women the oldest girl is 21 and the 2nd oldest is 18. But the rest range from 15-17.
....and I'll pass. The fan service is just too much for me.
Pfft. Loser. Ya common sense Disturbs me.
