Attention! This video is not made nor intended for kids. This video is made for the purpose of young adults and older adults to enjoy. Model trains are expensive, fragile, and make up a small percentage of the hobby market. (A lot less than what it used to be years ago, but has made a comeback somewhat since 2020.) Model trains are to be cared for and handled with caution. This is to let TH-cam know that I am not making children's content.
This will probably be my favorite unboxing for 2024!

The state passenger cars are a little larger than the Blue Comet cars. Thanks for posting the Standard Gauge opening. MTH also made Standard Gauge showroom passenger cars. These incredible cars are 3 feet in length and go with the huge Brute engine also made by MTH a few years ago. Original Lionel was going to produce but Josh Lionel Cowen decided the Brute was too big for young kids to handle. If you can find one of these sets your going to pay around $3,000.00.

Interesting enough, a PRR T1 has been made in Standard Gauge & LGB G scale. Both are custom, but cool. Standard Gauge Tinplate trains and O gauge Tinplate trains are relatively affordable. The Blue Comet in the video is roughly between 1'600-2'500$. Which in adjustment to inflation compared to the original 1930's Blue Comet being between 70-100$ . That being said, the State sets, including the Blue Comet, were the top of the line trains by Lionel. They were never cheap to begin with although, you do not necessarily need to buy both the 400E and the set at the same time, as I have done in this case. Fortunately, these models are not the originals and are more affordable. Keep in mind, these are actually not replicas, but rather reproduction runs of the originals with versions that have some extra modern electronics. The original Blue Comets in "great" condition or similar to the reproduction set I acquired would cost closer to 8-10k. Not really worth it unless you are an older fella, lol, but I digress. I recommend the originals if they are the smaller 500 series freight cars, and passenger cars. Engines like the 8E & 10E are relatively affordable too. If you can find them as a set for 300-500$, then it is a great starter set into Standard Gauge trains. I had the money to buy the 400E's and Coach set, so depending on your job income it will vary what you can get. Personally, I believe that if you want to aquire a set of the Blue Comet, then I recommend saving as much as you can and waiting for the right deals on eBay. Other than that, take a look around on eBay! I put "MTH Standard Gauge" as a save search. There is always something new popping up everyday!
      Happy Railroading!

@@officialpennsyjoe i wish when there a O scale triplex in hobbies

@@aalcomtive Oh yeah, the O scale Triplex is way expensive. Lionel now these days I find to be overpriced compared to MTH trains. That and the MTH trains are arguably more reliable. You can probably find a used MTH Triplex for a fair value in O scale. In HO they used to be as low as 400$ before the pandemic!
Anyways, Lionel's Triplex is worth 500-1000$ more than an MTH Standard Gauge reproduction train set. Which in my book tells me that the fun value is more in getting a set in Standard Gauge. Sure, they are not "scale accurate" models, but they are very beautiful, durable, and fun trains to have. Lots of play to be had.
