Many people don't know Beethoven was completely deaf when he composed this symphony. He could hear all the parts in his mind. Pure genius.

In a 42 year career in Aviation, I spent 28 years working all around the world and know this: Get rid of the Statesmen, politicians, and soldiers. Send orchestras, bands, and choirs to different countries and let everyone sing together. What a great place it would be!

I wonder if Beethoven had ever thought that in a few centuries his symphony would be played in a Japanese mall. Peace and goodwill to all mankind.

As a German native speaker I can’t express my awe of how PERFECT this German sounds even spoken by these Japanese - I wish my Japanese was as half as good as their German.

It’s a flash mob on you, the viewer, because you didn’t know the whole mall was in on it.

This shook me to my very core. I had a visceral, profound reaction to this that caught me completely off guard. Goosebumps down my legs and up my back. I had no idea how beautiful this was going to be. Very moving. I finally understand how people can be moved to tears in the presence of such beauty and excellence and grace because that is what just happened to me. Please, dear God, let our world gravitate toward moments like these and away from the tyranny and fear we are witnessing daily.

Music is truly the universal language. Japanese singing in German, spectacular!

I love how Beethoven’s 9th is so engrained into Japanese culture that the crowd just knows when to join in and sing.

What I find more impressive is how literally everyone remained quiet just so everyone can hear the music.

Japan is SO organized that even the Flash Mobs are announced so everybody leaves space for the performers

As a Japanese American who has spent time in Japan, it wasn’t surprising to see the embrace of a classic. Japanese embrace music of all styles, but classical music is still deeply embedded in their culture. The young people playing in the orchestra reflect that foundational embrace of the classics. But what was just as amazing was the voices across generations singing the praise of this classic. The voices together was truly inspirational. Wish I could have been there. Hard to beat this performance on any level.
