Jim is going on about internet and cable provider Spectrum. We have Spectrum down in Florida and I can tell you for a fact the services are complete garbage. Either your wifi goes out constantly or your cable won't work properly every week it feels like. Not only that, sometimes your entire block has cable but not wifi, or vice versa. Their customer service isn't all that great either. If you can go at least 3 days, maybe a week without issues of any kind, it'd be a fricken miracle.

We had Spectrum out about 10 time over 3 years. The last guy replaced all the cable and fixed everyone else's bad work and it's worked great ever since.
I'd worked in a network operations center for a few years where a good bit of the job is working with ISPs on behalf of the customers. So, I've worked with Spectrum's team a LOT along with just about any other ISP you can think of in this country. What you absolutely, TRULY don't want to happen is for Spectrum to call your bluff and you're now stuck with the infinite well of putrid hell that is AT&T.
Which is exactly what spectrum would do. Maybe Brian Last isn't familiar with Spectrum, but threatening to go to another ISP, will do nothing. Spectrum doesn't give a damn if you leave, it's just one less customer they have to deal with. Besides, they are basically a monopoly in Jim's region of the country. They know he'd be back eventually.
the reason why i have never used that bluff is at&t's bandwidth caps that i want no part of. i bet spectrum knows this as well and won't really fight to keep you if you only have at&t as their only competition. not to mention that at&t can't really match them on speed even with their fios service which i can't even get at my house right now.

The normally apologize and then shit gets done. This is what happens with all internet companies. Some have worse internet and say you can play video games on the internet, but you never even get 30mbs download nor upload.

Mentioning about how these people "talk in code" to each other, I heard on a Star Trek podcast that if you call an IT service department and you immediately say the word "fizzbin" once you finally get a live person on the line, that it is a codeword basically telling the other person, "ok, I am somewhat knowledgeable about tech stuff and will understand what you are saying" and they will immediately jump past all the basic stuff like "is your computer plugged in?" and such. Does anyone know if this is true?
In another vlog Jim said the Internet didn't exist in 1999(fact check: It did and has sort of existed since roughly the 1969 ARPA Project) Jim reminds me of the boomer that would call up his dial up ISP in the 90s & say crap like "make site xyz work right now or I am cancelling" on Netscape even though this was technically impossible since it was a server side problem- and not the ISPs issue-explaining that sort of thing to nontechnical people has been hell forever., witnessed this personally so many times.
This is the most compelling storyline in the wrestling world nowadays. I don't wanna miss what's next. Bookers should takes notes, learn how to keep your audience invested already.

i'm thinking that perhaps jim has too many splits in his house if he has cable tv plus 2 different internet plans with 2 different modems. that is if he doesn't get a single run for each. hell i had 2 splits and my internet was shit for a long time until i removed it. jim really should just keep the business internet line and get a mesh wifi system but i doubt he will go for something like that. it's a giant waste of money especially if he switched to the gigabit plan.
Allow me to translate: Jim's got a residential router and an wireless extension for his office on a 500MB cable package and he's getting all of 200mb upload and 20mb download. The connection is fucked up at the cable home office AND in the delivery infrastructure, and its pretty obvious from Jim's encounter in the post office the whole local area is sharing maybe 5TB of bandwith, tops. Spectrum sent a tech who couldn't diagnose the issue (cause the issues are in almost every layer of the connection at this point) and they used the opportunity to upsell him to 1GB, then they cracked open a ticket and sent it up the ladder to L2 when the upgrade didn't help. L2 will probably ignore the ticket and close out after three days of "no response from the customer". Jim needs a new ISP and he needs to move to all wired connections, and that's the bottom line because a fatass east coast trump supporting IT nerd said so.
i actually think its the other way around and jim was likely getting 200mb down and only 20mb up but just confused it. he said skype wasn't working well and it would work fine with 200mb up. jim probably lives really far away from the nearest spectrum node which explains his shitty speeds.
