Ash vs Evil Dead is possibly the most fun to watch TV show ever. Too many shows these days have their heads up their own ass that far that they completely forget about fun.
That fun factor also got overdone in the show and caused it to be way too diluted, even Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness knew how to reign themselves in from the comedy and slapstick when they needed too. Season 2 and 3 was a mess because of that.

+LibertyMan As much as I love Bruce Campbell, he does have a tendency, especially now more than ever, to go into complete smartass mode when doing interviews or doing convention appearances. It's part of his charm but sometimes can get old quick. He still is hands down one of the wittiest guys out there, and his autobiography is still one of the most entertaining books I've ever had the chance to read.
I honestly think he's just sick of boring interviews, and she was able to be professional, ask interesting questions, and hold his attention. He seems to be a smart as when he feels he needs to elevate the entertainment value of something. He probably felt the interview was entertaining enough as is.

I am 36 years old.....I know evil dead like my back pocket. The remake was not bad, but when I heard they make a series........with Bruce Campbell. I watched it with big hopes and wishes. And boy o boy they were all fulfilled! It's absolutely true to the franchise and I enjoy every second of it. Without Bruce, there is no Evil dead

So in that game he's referred to as Ash "from Army of Darkness", and there are a lot of references to the movie, but they can't mention anything from Evil Dead 1 or 2. The complete opposite.

This is a fun interview to go back and watch now that the entire show has been aired. It's funny that people were nervous that it would be good. It was great. And while we all knew Bruce was going to be great by bringing back Ash, we were also treated to Dana DeLorenzo's great new character of Kelly. I would not mind seeing her carry the next installment of Evil Dead.
Army of Darkness had a totally different feel from the other movies, but it was still cool, I still loved it. I'm just sooooo happy they made the TV show and with Sam Rami in the mix that NEVER happens! Bruce Campbell is just the best.

I have to be the first to say I was always a fan of evil dead but wondered what the the heck took them so long to make it into a tv show back in the day. I mean the movies were great don't get me wrong but It always felt like there could of been so much more. I just am kind of in shock after all the years we waited there is finally a new evil dead and I loved it, back in the day I did read the books and play the video games and I think Evil dead was pretty amazing for the story line and how they made Ash and I got hooked on it because he wasn't the typical hero for a horror/Comedy it was something fun and new.

When I saw the first episode I thought, "Perfect! Ash would NOT have aged well." He wouldn't have learned a fucking thing... and he hasn't! FANTASTIC!

AoD still canon though, ending of ED2's ending pretty much a bite sized version of AoD, aswell as the picture of Ash inside of the book telling the story of what he did in the past.

The lizards name is Eli because Eli is an actual person in Christian biblical texts who was the chosen one by God to be the avenger/protector of humanity and also a future prophet. So basically they named the lizard Eli because Eli is mentioned in many different Christian holy bibles, books. And texts.
Bruce Campbell isn't Ash Williams. It's the other way round.
Lizard being called Clyde might be from the Clint Eastwood movies " Every Which Way But Loose." And " Every Which Way You Can."
