This turned out really lovely! I was going to comment on how much the addition of those two little white boats added to the piece. Funny how much impact little details like that can have.

I know this was a long while ago but still want to comment how lovely I found the process and the result thank you for the peek into your artistic journey.
I‘ve also during a holiday only used pencils & watercolour pencils. Isn’t it peculiar how we lose confidence? I too am now putting off putting paint to paper. I started with 2 charcoal sticks yesterday & used some coloured inks today, also used some pastels & Polychromos but only a few exercises. Perhaps next week I can start a picture or clean up my work place first. Am edging myself slowly into putting paint on paper! I enjoyed your painting & hope you‘ll ease yourself back into it! Good to have you back. Thanks.
Lovely painting Helen, the colours are stunning. And the way you painted the distant headland then pulled some of the colour back out was so satisfying! Thats my favourite thing to do with watercolour 😊
Thanks! The pen is called Acrylic Painter by Flysea (originally from Temu, I think) It's not great though, I'm just using it up, but prefer Posca white pens.
I’m always in awe of the beautiful pictures you take of places where you live. Love your paintings. A question: if you have to compare silver black velvet and Princeton neptune, what would you say? The pros and cons?
I'm lucky to live somewhere so beautiful! Thanks! I think they're pretty similar really! I'd seen your question and so last night when I was doing some swatching, I kept swapping between a 12 Black Velvet and a 12 Neptune. This might just be my individual brushes, but I'd say the Neptune is slightly softer, they both hold a similar amount of water though, and my Neptune comes to a finer, slightly longer point. (Though my Black Velvet is much older). I pretty much use them interchangeably.
