The Tupolev Tu-144 is a Soviet supersonic passenger airliner designed by Tupolev in operation from 1968 to 1999. The Tu-144 was the world's first commercial supersonic transport aircraft with its prototype's maiden flight from Zhukovsky Airport on 31 December 1968, two months before the British-French Concorde.
Nonetheless, both the Tupolev and the Concorde were extremely deafening when they take off. Not only that, they generate sonic booms once they reach the speed of sound. There's a very good reason why the Concorde, in particular, never served Los Angeles, San Francisco,........., only New York.

Regardless, the Soviets cut corners to get the TU-144 in the air the same time as Concorde, and thus the plane had serious design flaws (which later proved disastrous). The Tu 144 could actually go faster and carry more passangers than the concorde but it was mainly faster because in supersonic flight it could not turn off its afterburners to keep supersonic speeds like the concorde could.

The TU-144 could actually reach speeds just above 1400 mph but, due to the Soviet spies not being able to steal the plans for the inlet doors, the plane could not sustain supersonic speed without using afterburner full time. The Concorde could "supercruise" without using afterburner. Afterburner was used to go above Mach one and then switched off. Have to give it to the Brits and the darn Frenchies, they solved that problem beautifully!

Concorde is FAKE. First flight of British Concorde was in 1969, first flight of TU - 144 was in 1968. Dislike.
