Cancelling it isn't the answer, it's prosecuting those who are responsible. Many people speed in there cars should me and you both be banned because of them ?
With all due respect there's a huge difference between poor animal husbandry and humans driving cars. Animals have no say in how they are treated and are at the mercy of their owners. As humans, if we take the decision to drive, we thus accept the risks involved.
What I am saying is it was only 2 out of a few hundred. There were plenty of very well cared for animals. It's not fair to punish all the good owners because of 2 bad. There are many horse that die in the grand national each year. We haven't banned horse racing because of it. The bad owners are ones who need punishment.
Horse Fairs were common all over Scotland and Ireland until people were forced into domesticity...in the 19th Century Industrialisation and mass transport meant the need for horse disappeared

1685 king James the ll set a royal charter. In 1945 it had been lost due to 2 politicians wanting to prevent the fair from carrying on. Funny isn't it how things go missing for the right persons.
There is an arrangement for refuge to pick them up. The council provides the bags. Apparently a family named Walsh arrange and pay to clean the fields up at the fair itself.
@@Roadshome I was just having a chuckle, I can feast myself on " Percheroni " videos that are full of horses. Thanks for asking, not everybody is horse mad like me.
They did yes, I film them i did say trafficpolice was checking. . All vehcles had no issue by one who's tax was one day out of date. So the owner phoned and renewed it. Not sure if your aware but if you renew your car/van tax it back dates to the start of the month. 1 day is acceptable. In fact 2 weeks is.
We used to have a horse fair just down the road from me at Watton in Norfolk, it was stopped eventually because of the trouble it bought to the Town. The only good bit was watching the police pull over and check vehicles, they used the fire station yard on the main road, loads of pi-keys got done.
I'm not a fair hater but it definitely is totally different to what it used to be and sadly it has brought in an unwelcome element that doesnt represent the true nature of the event. It is estimated that the fair costs the local taxpayers upwards of half a million pounds. The majority of that money comes out of Westmoorland & Furness's annual budget. Only around 2% of appleby's population gain financially from the fair and it's estimated 40% of appleby based businesses are unable to operate either partially or for the full duration of the fair. I think a little more financial transparency is needed on the cost on the running of the fair not just from the organisers who gain financially but also local authorities who are withholding the true cost.
Totally agree. I would love to know the true costs. I have spoken to businesses who say they pay towards clean ups, others who say its covered by locals. It's a bit of who's telling the truth. You may have guessed from my accent I'm from London, born and bred. I left London about 1.5 year ago. I worked and paid taxes all my life but never once questioned what I pay taxes towards. I just felt screwed no matter what I did. Was I paying towards the tourist in London ? The football teams clean up ? I don't know, to be honest. What I do know is I'll be taxed no matter what. Politicians will tell me it's for whatever they wanted and I could never prove otherwise. 🤷♂️ I have bee. Told the money from the parking helps pay towards the town clean up and also the fields used to park and camp. ? I can't dig that deep to know if it's true.
@Roadshome Everybody who pays rates to Westmoorland & Furness council pays for it as it comes out of there annual budget. As for local businesses, then maybe a couple of land owners who benefit financially by the use of their land as camping or parking conribute toward the cleanup but that figure would be a drop in the ocean towards the overall cost of hosting the fair.
It wasn't neglect. It was dam right stupidity and cruel. , The guy run it until it fell. We don't support such behaviour in any way but even worse is to do it at Appleby. All the authorities are looking for every possibility to close the fair. That reflects on 10k of his fellow travellers.
This is disgusting. I just read that at least two horses died at the hands of these cruel idiots and there were many incidents of cruelty being investigated. Shame on the people organizing this fiasco and the people participating in extreme animal cruelty.
We are not condoning the behaviour of a small number of people, there are many animal welfare groups up at Appleby to check on animals, we even captured a interaction on the live stream we were on. This was dealt with quickly.
Everytime ive been too appleby the horses all look fit n well why would they neglect a horse n take it too a horse fair where did u read bout horses dying
I worked for London borough of newham. A London council, no way I could avoid paying tax. Why do people think travellers don't pay tax. They all work, and not everyone will pay cash. If they do, it's cos they as the employer of a traveller don't want to pay tax either 🤷 we then have the question I myself ask, why do we pay tax to a rich bunch of thieves so they themselves don't have to work ?
Travellers or gypsies, there seams to be some disagreement over who is called what but to me it doesn't matter. If we all want to travel in our vans or carts we are all Travellers.
Cant do much about the horse poo, but humans dropped everything else and should be made to pick it up. I was taught by my parents not to drop litter and never did.
I heard people at the market and the flash asking where the bins were, and there wasn't any. That's poor organisation as the worst kind of rubbish to try and walk around with is messy food packaging covered in sauce etc.
@@Roadshome Litter bins cause more rubbish than they collect due to being overfilled, look at many roadside laybys, bins have been removed to reduce the amount of litter. What is wrong with carrying a plastic bag with you to put your litter in and then disposing of it properly when you get home? I have done this all my life. Similar situation in supermarket carparks with bottle and clothing banks, when they're full, carrier bags with contents get left beside them creating more litter. If they were only at designated recycling centres, the staff would be able to control what was left and where.
Amazes me the things that came out of your mouth. You say everyone pays for the clean up of that beautiful place? Well only tax payers and I've yet to meet a traveller community who's above board with the tax man. So no actually, the people causing the savage mess are not the ones cleaning it up. Nice try though. If you want to sympathise with a group if people, maybe choose one that isn't so blatantly destructive everywhere they go! Not once have I seen a traveller site thats clean. Not once, and they habitually leave horses for dead where I am. Its disgusting.
You should look up a bit of history about the dirt that was left nehind at the festival in england with country people as we Irish call them, it was disgusting, how do you like that, always something to talk about when it comes to travellers, God love you are you so jealous your not a traveller because there are a lot of wannabes 😂
I like the way they use motorbike wheels for the people carrying carts the work man's ship and the in the way they build anything for a horses to pull are amazing but horses are not cheap to buy or look after I will stick to metal being a welder fabricator for 25 years but never good with wood the locals are just snobby with money and it's there choice to move there the fair and the travellers been going there for generations if they don't like it then move out simple
We have something to add and say about the litter. No bins at all up at the flash and we heard travellers themselves saying is there a bin anywhere. So council is to blame.

Is that community the beneficiary of "two tier policing" ? Or is that accusation thrown towards non-whites in Britain?
The beauty of Appleby ruined once a year by those rats .
What a nasty thing to say.
@@Roadshome I bet there’s more agrees with me than disagrees
Very sad to here a horse died there this yr of neglect
It wasn't neglect. It was dam right stupidity and cruel. , The guy run it until it fell. We don't support such behaviour in any way but even worse is to do it at Appleby. All the authorities are looking for every possibility to close the fair. That reflects on 10k of his fellow travellers.
2 busy bodys these 2😂😂😂
Not sure what your commenting on, but we would love to say thanks for watching the video we hope you enjoyed it. ❤️🐎🐎
Rather a lot of big coats for flaming June !
Crap British weather 😑 it got cold at times whe. The sun went behind clouds. That's the problem with uk as a visitor, we don't get stable weather.
Leaving a mess behind..... standard 😂
Thanks for watching.

Pikeyfest. I can't think of anything worse.
Good job you didn't go, you might not want to watch our other Appleby vlogs either. 😉
I'm always on your side but if that's true then I think it should be stopped
Everytime ive been too appleby the horses all look fit n well why would they neglect a horse n take it too a horse fair where did u read bout horses dying
So what are you complaining about being dead one minute your words , then having all this money coming to your area and boosting your community?
Yes they said the tax payers.
Travellers?
Travellers or gypsies, there seams to be some disagreement over who is called what but to me it doesn't matter. If we all want to travel in our vans or carts we are all Travellers.
@@Roadshome I use public transport
I find it easier
but I don't move from a rural community to towns when I wish...not many do
No one's complaining?apart from you.......
Not to sure what your comment means, thanks for watching 🙂
'Stolen in Ireland
Sold in the UK' 🤔 😡
Did you mean to comment on this video or our 'Trouble on the road' vlog?
I wouldn't want them where I live.

Interesting sulky.
Tax payer your having a laugh
You should look up a bit of history about the dirt that was left nehind at the festival in england with country people as we Irish call them, it was disgusting, how do you like that, always something to talk about when it comes to travellers, God love you are you so jealous your not a traveller because there are a lot of wannabes 😂
Oh yes we agree, non of the towns folk are talking about what is left behind a Glastonbury.
Looking at the litter it’s visitor litter not travelers it’s empty coke cans water bottles hot food wrappers
We have something to add and say about the litter. No bins at all up at the flash and we heard travellers themselves saying is there a bin anywhere. So council is to blame.
Look at mess they make
Have you seen the mess at Glastonbury ? Also something no one mentions, the travellers pay to have it all cleaned after.
