If Tsh is high, your actual thyroid is most likey low not high. Get a thyroid panel done and see what your thyroid levels are. Using only Tsh level is not enough. Find a doctor that understands this and get better results.

I agree. I just had a full thyroid panel done. My TSH is not optimal at 4.45 but it doesn’t tell the full story.

My tsh was at a 30 a month ago I retested today . How bad is that? My hair is falling off and I'm really dizzy I did just have a baby though could that be why my tsh is high? I'm also severely anemic

    • @crh251
      @crh251 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

@@cristinadiaz6608, TSH at 30 is definitely high. Most women feel good when it’s between 1 and 2. Mine is 3.75 so I’m working to get it down. You also had a baby so I would wait to test it again. I lost some hair after having a baby too. Often times thinning hair is either the thyroid or low ferritin. I would probably wait to test your TSH and also your ferritin. Ferritin under 70 can cause hair loss as well. Congratulations on your new baby! Enjoy!

    Hello Dr.Ruscio ,
I would like to thank for the valuable information that you posted on TH-cam. I took the dosage that you recommended of inositol and selenium and in 3 months my tsh dropped from 9.88 to 6.58. Also I would like to mention that I stopped taking levotyroxine 3 months before I started taking inositol and selenium thinking that if I give up on gluten my tsh would drop naturally but it hasn't happened. After 3 months of waiting my tsh went up to 9.88. I told my husband and he discovered your video while searching for some information to drop my tsh without taking levothyroxine again.I started to take the recommended dosage of inositol and selenium and after 3 months my tsh dropped to 6.58. Thank you so much !

TSH 4.85. Can you believe I have been subscribed and have been taking the Levothyroxine. 😳😧.
I will stop the meds and will get a 2nd opinion and set of tests. I have followed a very restrictive diet for Hashimoto’s for these two weeks but the emotion stress this diagnoses has caused me is very damaging. I have a few other late onset autoimmune diseases due to stress. Didn’t really need another 🥰. Thank you so much for you podcast.

Does TSH fluctuate hour by hour throughout the day? Does it change in the morning to midday to afternoon to evening ? How many times in the day should I get the blood test to determine what my TSH level is? Are medication decisions made on a one time test for something that varies throughout the day?

    • @carolbrooks9161

TSH is a pituitary hormone. The correct labs to order for thyroid function is Free T3, Free T4, RT3 and antibodies. Normal TSH should between 1-0.3. Anybody who talks about the TSH for thyroid functioning is just showing that they don't know what they're talking about.

I’m going through hypothyroidism. It’s the non-autoimmune type. The highest my TSH has hit is 27. With homeopathy treatment it’s now 5. I intend to go lower. I thought anything > 5 should be treated. So now it’s > 7. As you said 1 study suggested > 7 required life long medicine. Is it good for people with non-autoimmune hypothyroidism to be supplemented with both Selenium & Inositol? Does that help with normalising TSH levels in such people? Or is it just for people with autoimmune thyroiditis? I just take Selenium 200 mcg per day. Is inositol available over the counter? So selenium (83mcg) & Inositol (600 mg) is the right combination? Just confirming. Thanks Doc!

Please HELP ~ TOTALLY CONFUSED ~ I am in my 70's and I've been diagnosed as Hypothyroidism since 1988 and on levothyroxine.... Both my T3 Free and T4 Free have always been in the NORMAL range.... But my TSH levels are like a roller coaster - all over the place... As an example it can be ( Low ) at 0.314 mcUnits/ml and six months later ( High ) as 5.051....( Then normal ) Then back to Low again..... I've been on .88 mcg for years... Upon my last yearly physical my body temp is normal - blood pressure was 108/62 - still have difficult stools but not constipated per say, never had much of an appetite... But this lab test was Low again ( 0.238 ) and he just lowered me to 75 mcg... I am now tired all the time where I wasn't before... Achy while I felt good on the .88 mcg... Not sure what I'm doing wrong or what I should tell / ask Dr to check for...

Hello Doctor, this video is a year old but I am hoping you see this. I was put on Levothyroxine in 2016 at 25mcg when my TSH was 6.51 and my T4 was 0.8. My dose was raised in 2018 to 50mcg with a TSH of 13.94 and a T4 of 0.8. Long story short, my TSH has ranged from 4.21 to the high of 13.94 since then and going from high to low back and forth. They stopped testing my T4 and since I didn't know anything about Hypothyroidism I just did what they said. I started taking selenium and zinc and weaned myself off the meds. My recent TSH test was 12 but no T4 was done. I feel fine and other than gaining a few pounds everything else is great. Is these up and down levels normal and was I wrong in stopping the meds?

Just got “diagnosed” with hypothyroid. TSH is 6.21 but my T3 is in range as well as my T4…although it’s on the very low range of ‘normal.’ Symptoms are hair loss, weight gain, constipation and super dry skin. Dr RX’ed 25mcg of Levo. I also came back anemic (10.5), which I’ve never had! I know that can also lead to issues with thyroid, so I have refused to take the Levo right now and am taking iron everyday, as well as Inositol, Selenium, Zinc, etc. I want to see if the TSH levels out once my iron increases and w/ the other supps I’m taking. It’s been about 3.5 weeks. With all of my symptoms, do you think it’s wise to continue trying this natural approach or should I try the Levo? How long do symptoms take to disappear with natural supplementation ?

Will this selenium and inositol also help lower a1c (blood glucose)? What effect will they have on weight or abdomenal mass? How often every 24 hours should a woman that still has menstruation take each of these supplements?

My tsh was 7 initially, then went to 10. I tried levothyroxine, but it didn't do anything to make me feel better. I switched to natural desiccated thyroid, which initially helped me feel better, but then normalized and I barely felt better than prior to taking NDT. Now, I'm in Tirosint. I don't feel better and my head feels all spacey like I'm coming off anesthesia. I eat a clean diet with a cheat meal here and there. I'm well-built (former drug-free State and National Champion) 42 year old male. Two endocrinologists said they cannot explain my symptoms because once my tsh was normal, I still didn't feel well. My GP says it's a serotonin imbalance and I need antidepressants to reset the serotonin. Any thoughts? I'm miserable.

Thanks for reaching out. I can't diagnose or really speak to individual care here. It may be a gut issue, which is often an upstream cause of thyroid issues. I'll attach some articles here that can hopefully give you some guidance:

      drruscio.com/the-gut-thyroid-connection1/
drruscio.com/how-to-get-rid-of-brain-fog/ - This one is about brain fog, which I think is relevant to your "spacey" comment.

I've been on Levothyroxine for 4 years, I tried to come off levo , dropped my meds from 100 a day to 75 for a month and my TSH level has gone to 11 it was 4.2 before but T3 + T4 have always been good, I've started 100 levo again to get the TSH levels down as I feel dreadful, once my TSH is back to normal how do you suggest coming off the Levothyroxine? Going to start the Selunium and Inositol combo

I just saw this vid pop up in my feed. I know it's a year old. I was misdiagnosed in 2003, when my tsh was only a 2.1. My Endo put me on meds. I wish I'd known how to read my labs back then.😔 I've tried to go off meds a few times (once cold-turkey & once weening), but gained a significant amount of weight each time. I no longer see an Endo & now take thyroid glandular on my own, for past few years and have been "okay". Is there a chance I could go off the glandular by supplementing with the selenium & inositol? Also, is it myo-inisitol or just inusitol? What's the difference? Thank you for any help/advice.

Dr. Please advise ...I would love to get off thyroid medication ...so tired of doing those blood tests and changing from something that was okay now getting different numbers more likely there will be another blood test that would need it to be done.. 4 weeks ago I was taking 125 mg my TSH was at 1.59 and FREE T4 was at 1.3
My new doctor thought I need to have increase and be 137 mg
And today I had my test back and TSH is showing 9.22 and FREE T4 is 1.0 What is going on
    What does that mean?
Is it good is it bad?
Blood pressure runs beteeen numbers 110/80 and 114/80
But the thyroid situation is just one bumpy ride... I am shocked that we still don't have a cure there should be a medication to help not to keep people locked forever on medication we build massive destruction weapons build with precision focusing on target but there is no cure for thyroid
.. that is just beyond me You know just to keep people on medications for rest of their lives And there are others that saying there is a cure for everything but this is a business and we support that business ....sorry that is my anger me speeking laud ..thank u
