Great video my key spins almost fully around so im hoping it will find the run postion as i try to pop it out and wait for my new one to arrive thanks for the help
i can turn my key. but when i try to start. i have to jiggle key and hope it will turn over. will this ignition lock cylinder replacement solve my issue?
So do you now have different keys for your ignition and doors? I have transponder keys so its a little different if you want to keep the same keys. The transponder keys are 80 bucks a pop at Home depot.
I can't find the video where you show how you were able to get the key to turn. Did you make a video showing how to do it? Mine won't turn to be able to pull the ignition switch out. Thanks
This is where you either drill out the ignition switch, or call a lock smith... I would call a lock smith... I've drilled out a ignition switch on a classic Nova and it was not fun at all..... not at all.....
I have 2 problems, first the dinger kept dinging when I removed the key like the key was still in the ignition when the door was open. Second was key sticking in the start position just cranking the engine not falling back to the run position and starting. Is that the tumbler or the ignition switch itself?
I would assume the whole mechanism itself ..... there is a spring that sends the key back to the run position from the start position......it is inside the tumbler
@@RoadHardRoadhousehow do you reprogram it if it's interrupted I'm not a mechanic and I'm going to use your video to change my history switch tomorrow would like to know what else I'm getting into
This is easy to try? Sorry for the late reply , sometimes I don't get these questions until I accidentally find them when relooking at a video. Short amount of time to try this.... Jeff
You should change your description. That is your ignition lock cylinder, not the switch. The ignition switch is the electrical part. Good video other than that.
Hi great video, but I can’t turn my switch to the run position, can you put up the video where you drilled out the key or got the key to turn to the run position? Thanks in advance
@@rodfosse1623 i didn't do a video on where I had to drill one out...it was years ago and on a classic car with a much simpler cylinder... I would thing that this one would be a lot harder
will this work for my 2005 navigator? this is too simple of an issue to have folks looking at my truck i'm disabled and can do this myself long as it goes for the navigator I guess it should it's a Ford I have a new starter and battery with a no crank condition and my key and immobilizer work just fine my problem is just like what you had man you should've saw this clown messing with my truck he jumped the starter and bypassed the solenoid and told me the only way to crank my truck was to let him run a wire from the solenoid into my truck with a button I told him HELL NO! because you don't just rig up vehicles.
If you can't get it to move....then you might have to drill it out.....and I would seek more professional help in that....everytime I have had to do that it was Terrible....and worse than I expected...and I ruined stuff....
Whole different story, and I don't know what you would do on these trucks if that were to happen. It isn't fun on classic cars, not sure how hard it would be on a newer truck
I am thinking that it will not come out . It needs to rotate. I have had this happen on OTHER cars and had to drill out the key hole gradually until the ignition fell apart
I had another complete ignition switch with key from a parts truck of mine... so yes, new key. But as far as programming, I bought some Ford keys off ebay and had True Value Hardware make them...no programming, and they have worked fine.
@RoadHardRoadhouse so the new keys are not chipped and you were able to start your truck with no problems. I got a new set off ebay because i wanted the same key for everything. But i haven't changed out the ignition lock switch because im afraid it wont start. I guess i need to just change it and hope it works. The new keys aren't chipped so i do t how that would work
You are in trouble here... in the old days we had to drill out the old ignition lock cylinder. But the newer trucks and cars, I'm not sure that is a good idea. There may be another way , but I don't know it...
Thanks for the tip, I have to replace my ignition key switch and door locks thanks to some scumbag that decided to attempt to steal my truck...
Yes, this is a easy job....hopefully your old key works so you can use it to take the old ignition out....
Great video my key spins almost fully around so im hoping it will find the run postion as i try to pop it out and wait for my new one to arrive thanks for the help
Yes, I would carefully spin the cylinder around and hopefully find the sweet spot for it to slide out.
Thanks for watching! Jeff
Thank you for this video - short and informative.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! Jeff
Thank you so much for saving me time! Also speedy is great! Appreciate your time
Hey! Great! Glad I could help! Lots of F250/350 stuff under my playlist for the F350 if you need it. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks buddy . Saved me time

The switch sucks to replace broke my tilt off because that thing is basically to damn big for that spot. So try this first

All keys and locks came from different parts truck
How do you put the tumbler together I have a bunch of pieces in a box from auto parts store
Haven't done one on a Ford . Probably be easier to buy a new one

This type of replacement doesn’t require an key reprogramming it’s just replace and truck will work normal please let me know thank you
Mine did not, took a key ignition from a 2000, and replaced my 2002 with it and off I went.
So, what do you do if you're changing the ignition switch because you lost the key? You can't turn it to the Run position?
This is where you either drill out the ignition switch, or call a lock smith... I would call a lock smith... I've drilled out a ignition switch on a classic Nova and it was not fun at all..... not at all.....
what’s the tool your using to take the ignition out ?
Thats an igntion lock cylinder... Yes.?
Yes
So all you have to change is the ignition lock cylinder ? Not the switch ?
Did you replace that because it just wouldn’t start occasionally?
No, replaced it because I had a parts truck that had all the locks that matched
Where did you get the new ignition switch?
I got it out of a parts truck I have. Since all my locks didn't match, I wanted them all to match as well.
Ok thanks for responding
You are going to probably need to get a locksmith to take care of it... make sure you have ownership papers when the locksmith comes out..
@@RoadHardRoadhouse this has been going on for 2 weeks now without being able to drive my truck, hopefully the locksmith is not too expensive.

I recently got a 2001 E150
That didn’t come with keys… what my best option?
I would check first for your van, but buy new ignition switch with keys, and do as I did here
