The grandpa was so kind, and trying really hard. He tried his best to speak English, I can tell her practiced certain lines like "you are welcome to our family." Bless that sweet man
The grandpa reminds me of a customer i had at my first job when i was 18. I was a receptionist at a small hotel in Eastern Europe and it was the closing of the season, so my boss told me i can lower the prices quite a bit if the customer asks. A Korean couple comes in, they were quite old and short. The grandpa asks if he can get like 10% off if they stay multiple days. I said "Sure, no problem!" and I tried to help them with their luggage but he refused my help. Later that day when they came back to the hotel, he put some candy on my desk, wich i found really cute. :))) I found it surprising that he spoke some English and that he had the courage to travel alone with his wife so far away and at such old age, to be honest. I want to be like that grandpa when i'm old
Jihoon's mother was so sweet as well during the wedding ceremony ugh I just love them so much you can really tell they want not only what is best for their son but what is best for deaven and her children and it's just so frickin' adorable

Deavan says on her youtube channel that she was crying in the airport because the tlc camera people wont leave her alone. It was part of her contract to tell them when to film and when to stop filming her, but after she told them to stop they wouldnt. So she was frustrated and upset. Tlc is a shit company and we need to stop watching their shows. But i have to say it's entertaining because they edit the scenes to be so dramatic

People look down on my mother for leaving my lying, manipulitive father but i have had a more stable childhood than most of my friends who have parents that bicker and argue everyday. My mother should have never had a kid with my father and deavon should have never had a kid with Jihoon but as a responsible parent I think she’d be better off on her own with a decent job back home than with a man in extreme debt that lies to her.
They actually have a TH-cam channel now called JunnyVanny. He's matured alot. They have an apartment now and her daughter moved with them to South Korea as well.
She's the one that has been paying for the apartment and supporting them==probably with her savings and that little bit of TLC money. he had better step up because that savings won't last forever.

I've had surgery where I've been awake, with just an epidural and let me tell you they give you some drugs to calm you down so you don't move or really worry much. I'm sure her mother was super freaked out while she probably didn't care much, thanks to the meds to relax her. But yeah, her mom was definitely a panicked mess (probably in part due to the high blood pressure requiring the surgery). There was something else she said that was like this is the most dangerous part or something, that told me she wasn't handling it well. I'm sure if her daughter showed distress from her mom's rambles though, the nurses would have stopped her from talking.
some people say it helps them stay calm to know what's going on because with the anaesthesia, you can't feel anything and don't know what's happening. so for some people that can be more stressful then hearing what they're doing.
Well that's whats happening. Removing all your insides and setting them off to the side in bowls to get to the baby. Its the miracle of life. Why would you be scared if you decide to have kids...you should research and know what you're getting into.
I thought that was important, too. It showed that they were willing to try and be progressive. It also helps that they speak some English, so that as she learns, they can help her. I thought that demonstrated a lot of patience, as well. Bless them

They actually have a TH-cam channel and they are both so different then what is portrayed on the show. They are both nice people and are wonderful parents to their two children. They are actually such a sweet, cute, good couple. She is way nicer and he seems much more mature, but still is a child at heart. I think it would be cool if you guys did a reaction to their TH-cam channel.

I find it really funny that when Americans watch the show they are quick to judge Deavan, but you guys as Koreans immediately started judging Jihoon. I think we just all want better representation for own our culture!
I don't know if I necessarily agree that this is always the case. I think because in this case the Korean side of this marriage is a man and there are more financial and stability expectations to provide for his family especially when Deavan is uprooting her life to move to Korea and be with Jihoon. The least he could do is have all the ducks lined up in order. If the roles were switched and the Korean woman was to move to America, I am sure these 2 Korean women analyzing the episode would be just as critical for the American man just like they are to Jihoon.
stolen from reddit Deavan left Korea around May and told everyone on social media that it was due to a family emergency and she brought Taeyang and Drascilla with her when she left. She was still doing insta lives and youtube videos during this time and was reassuring everyone that everything was fine with Jihoon and she'd be going back. June: There were pictures on instagram of Jihoon facetiming Deavan and Drascilla. During this time however, Deavan was shit talking Jihoon all over instagram and was posting headless pictures of a dude hanging out with her. Jihoon finally had it and posted a long instagram story talking about Deavan and the real reason she left Korea; she told him she was going to kill herself so he let her go home for support and she promised she would come back. He also disclosed that he had to pick up Drascilla from school because she was hitting, biting, spitting on, and pulling the hair of the teachers and other kids. He admitted to having to discipline her and showed her, by yanking lightly on her hair, that it doesn't feel good to have your hair pulled. He had documentation to back all of these claims up, which were also provided on his insta story. Then, the very next day Deavan freaked and said that Jihoon had abused Drascilla and that was why she had left Korea. She claimed she couldn't talk about it because of having a court case pending and her lawyers told her not to talk any further. Not even a week later, she did a youtube live with John Yates where she disclosed most of what happened (what happened to the court case? lol) She claimed that Jihoon ripped out three inches of hair on Drascilla's scalp and when pressed, the next day she provided a blurry picture that showed no signs of trauma to her head and basically showed same hairline that Drascilla has always had (she has always been missing the patch of hair that she claimed Jihoon pulled out). She then starts showing the headless man on social media dressed up in matching outfits with Taeyang, then reveals a week or two later that she is dating a new guy named Topher Park. Apparently, seeing her pictures with this dude on instagram was how Jihoon found out that she was not coming back to Korea. She claims that Jihoon has blocked her all over social media, and he says it's the other way around. He has posted photos of things that he has sent to Taeyang via another friend in the states, claiming that he is guessing at Tae's size for clothes since she won't tell him any information on his son. Deavan's abuse claims keep getting worse - now she claims that he kicked Drascilla in the stomach a few times, which made her knees bleed (?) and also abused their dog bam bam. Jihoon stated he had to give the dog away because Drascilla was rough with him. Deavan shoots back the next day, saying he abused the dog himself. She and her mom both claim that they had to "act like everything was fine in June because of the TLC NDA" Remember the facetime there were pictures of that I mentioned above? Well Elicia says that it was fake and it was only a picture of jihoon on the phone and Drascilla wasn't actually talking to him.. All because TLC asked them to post it (LOL). Not sure why they are allowed to break the NDA now all of a sudden, with the season still running... Topher has since moved in and they often do insta lives together. They are saying now that they have known each other for a long time and said, last week, that they met on a flight to korea seemingly while she was pregnant with Taeyang. AKA she was most likely cheating on Jihoon.

Sadly, Devan took Jihoons son and left Korea to be with a guy she met on the airplane ride to Korea previously. Its very sad because, yes, Jihoon was immature and yes, he wasn't being responsible...but, just like every first time parent, we learn as we go. Devan got bored and she k ew her mother did not want her to stay in Korea AND she had already met a new Korean who lived in the states that she was Interested in. She refuses to let Jihoon have ANY contact with his son and has her new boyfriend playing "daddy" too her 2 kids. She has a habit of playing the victim role. She's done it with her daughters father, her aunt, Jihoon and once her new relationship goes bad she will make rediculous accusations about him as well. It's sad because she isn't just hurting Jihoon, she is neglecting their son of a bond with his father, his grandparents and his culture. I hope Jihoon will be able to see his son sooner rather than later. Actually Deavan decided to move to Korea partially for safety reasons. If I’m not mistaken she was crying in the airport scene bc of some family issues (also her aunt tried to abduct and traffic her) So it wasn’t ideal but in the end she decided that Korea was a better option. But they are doing pretty good now :) acc to the videos on her TH-cam channel

Maybe because i keep trying to see the good in people. Except with ed and rose... ed was a no go for me no matter how hard i tried to see the good in him.
Birth control isn't always 100% so you can still sometimes get pregnant even if you are on the pill. The pill reduces the chances of pregnancy if it doesn't completely eradicate them.
I actually root for these two! I hope some girls who fetishize dating Korean men see this and see how their "oppa's" will probably not marry them because of their culture. Btw, nothing wrong with finding asian men attractive (i also think they have very attractive features), I just mean woman who ONLY want a Korean husband.
I wouldn't call it a fetish, but I want to marry someone fluent in a different language because I never got to grow up bilingual, and I want my future kids to have the benefit of having multiple languages as they grow up because of how it helps brain development.

@@fdscrl6016 Yeah, it's tough in America because teaching multiple languages to kids in school doesn't officially start until high school, and possibly middle school. Being bilingual or multilingual is not a "thing" in society. It's only a cultural thing for individuals, for immigrants or children of immigrants. In other countries, it starts in kindergarten and elementary school, and it continues throughout a child's education. I definitely envy other countries for pushing the native language as well as the international language in schools.

KristenAnnStuhr also she explained in one of her videos that they had made an agreement with TLC that they are not to film when she has to discipline her children (for obvious reasons being that it's personal) and for that day there were some new people on the camera crew and they wouldn't stop filming even though she kept telling them to leave her alone because her daughter was acting out, and this one woman went as far as following her into the bathroom when she tried to get away where she could discipline her daughter (even though they are not allowed to do that whatsoever), so on top of being pregnant, her daughter was acting out and she couldn't do anything about it, the camera crew wouldn't listen, and she had also recently gotten news of her aunt being murdered.

Yum's reaction when Jihoon was weird about drascilla sleeping in the bed with them is immaculate, infallible, amazing. also. Him meeting the baby was very cute but like...he could have googled how to hold a baby in the months prior. And it just seems like of the two of them, jihoon should have moved, since Deavan already had pretty significant stability. And I totally get her not wanting to live with jihoon's parents. My aunt and uncle live next door to my aunt's parents, and they're always undermining my aunt and uncle's authority when it comes to my cousin. Like, my uncle will say "no, you can't have candy for breakfast. You can't play minecraft at 2 am" and my cousin will just run next door and get his grandma to tell my uncle he's a terrible person for telling his kid "No."

This poor girl got so much hate in the comments over silly reasons (koreaboo jealousy), while everyone loved Jihoon and made excuses for everything he did. He could have flown early to watch his son's birth in person, his father even told him to but he decided he didn't want to spend the money he quit his job even though he had a baby on the way, gave more affection to his dog then his newborn son. Other stuff I can't remember lol. Neither of them were prepared, but she was the only one getting roasted hard. As a woman who married a Vietnamese man, and I had a child at a young age by a different man (she's very well behaved, thank god. I didn't like Jihoon at first too, and I never disliked Deavan because who could have blamed her being so emotional and stressed when she didn't know about his crime and his debt until after she moved with him. The grandpa reminds me of a customer i had at my first job when i was 18. I was a receptionist at a small hotel in Eastern Europe and it was the closing of the season, so my boss told me i can lower the prices quite a bit if the customer asks.
A Korean couple comes in, they were quite old and short. The grandpa asks if he can get like 10% off if they stay multiple days. I said "Sure, no problem!" and I tried to help them with their luggage but he refused my help. Deavan says on her youtube channel that she was crying in the airport because the tlc camera people wont leave her alone. It was part of her contract to tell them when to film and when to stop filming her, but after she told them to stop they wouldnt. So she was frustrated and upset. Tlc is a shit company and we need to stop watching their shows. But i have to say it's entertaining because they edit the scenes to be so dramatic

I've had surgery where I've been awake, with just an epidural and let me tell you they give you some drugs to calm you down so you don't move or really worry much. I'm sure her mother was super freaked out while she probably didn't care much, thanks to the meds to relax her.
But yeah, her mom was definitely a panicked mess (probably in part due to the high blood pressure requiring the surgery). There was something else she said that was like this is the most dangerous part or something, that told me she wasn't handling it well. I'm sure if her daughter showed distress from her mom's rambles though, the nurses would have stopped her from talking.

Deavan left Korea around May and told everyone on social media that it was due to a family emergency and she brought Taeyang and Drascilla with her when she left. She was still doing insta lives and youtube videos during this time and was reassuring everyone that everything was fine with Jihoon and she'd be going back.
June: There were pictures on instagram of Jihoon facetiming Deavan and Drascilla. During this time however, Deavan was shit talking Jihoon all over instagram and was posting headless pictures of a dude hanging out with her. Jihoon finally had it and posted a long instagram story talking about Deavan and the real reason she left Korea; she told him she was going to kill herself so he let her go home for support and she promised she would come back. He also disclosed that he had to pick up Drascilla from school because she was hitting, biting, spitting on, and pulling the hair of the teachers and other kids. He admitted to having to discipline her and showed her, by yanking lightly on her hair, that it doesn't feel good to have your hair pulled. He had documentation to back all of these claims up, which were also provided on his insta story.
Then, the very next day Deavan freaked and said that Jihoon had abused Drascilla and that was why she had left Korea. She claimed she couldn't talk about it because of having a court case pending and her lawyers told her not to talk any further. Not even a week later, she did a youtube live with John Yates where she disclosed most of what happened (what happened to the court case? lol) She claimed that Jihoon ripped out three inches of hair on Drascilla's scalp and when pressed, the next day she provided a blurry picture that showed no signs of trauma to her head and basically showed same hairline that Drascilla has always had (she has always been missing the patch of hair that she claimed Jihoon pulled out). She then starts showing the headless man on social media dressed up in matching outfits with Taeyang, then reveals a week or two later that she is dating a new guy named Topher Park.
Apparently, seeing her pictures with this dude on instagram was how Jihoon found out that she was not coming back to Korea. She claims that Jihoon has blocked her all over social media, and he says it's the other way around. He has posted photos of things that he has sent to Taeyang via another friend in the states, claiming that he is guessing at Tae's size for clothes since she won't tell him any information on his son.
Deavan's abuse claims keep getting worse - now she claims that he kicked Drascilla in the stomach a few times, which made her knees bleed (?) and also abused their dog bam bam. Jihoon stated he had to give the dog away because Drascilla was rough with him. Deavan shoots back the next day, saying he abused the dog himself. She and her mom both claim that they had to "act like everything was fine in June because of the TLC NDA" Remember the facetime there were pictures of that I mentioned above? Well Elicia says that it was fake and it was only a picture of jihoon on the phone and Drascilla wasn't actually talking to him.. All because TLC asked them to post it (LOL). Not sure why they are allowed to break the NDA now all of a sudden, with the season still running...
Topher has since moved in and they often do insta lives together. They are saying now that they have known each other for a long time and said, last week, that they met on a flight to korea seemingly while she was pregnant with Taeyang. AKA she was most likely cheating on Jihoon.

Sadly, Devan took Jihoons son and left Korea to be with a guy she met on the airplane ride to Korea previously. Its very sad because, yes, Jihoon was immature and yes, he wasn't being responsible...but, just like every first time parent, we learn as we go. Devan got bored and she k ew her mother did not want her to stay in Korea AND she had already met a new Korean who lived in the states that she was Interested in. She refuses to let Jihoon have ANY contact with his son and has her new boyfriend playing "daddy" too her 2 kids. She has a habit of playing the victim role. She's done it with her daughters father, her aunt, Jihoon and once her new relationship goes bad she will make rediculous accusations about him as well. It's sad because she isn't just hurting Jihoon, she is neglecting their son of a bond with his father, his grandparents and his culture. I hope Jihoon will be able to see his son sooner rather than later.
Side note: She now uses this same channel; Familyvanny (that Jihoon commented from) to post videos with her new boyfriend and the kids.
He doesn’t visit his child because he doesn’t want to. Instead he got some type of surgery and complained about not having money. The two kids are better off with their mother, he can barley handle his own money. He wouldn’t be able to raise his son. So what if Devon got a new bf, was she supposed to wait for jihoon to get his act together? Life is fast either you care or not no one wants to wait. Im positive that both kids see her new bf as a father figure and a friend , that’s how kids are. I’m sure they will know in the future or even right now that he’s not their biological father. Actually Deavan decided to move to Korea partially for safety reasons. If I’m not mistaken she was crying in the airport scene bc of some family issues (also her aunt tried to abduct and traffic her) So it wasn’t ideal but in the end she decided that Korea was a better option. But they are doing pretty good now :) acc to the videos on her TH-cam channel

Birth control isn't always 100% so you can still sometimes get pregnant even if you are on the pill. The pill reduces the chances of pregnancy if it doesn't completely eradicate them.

@@fdscrl6016 Yeah, it's tough in America because teaching multiple languages to kids in school doesn't officially start until high school, and possibly middle school. Being bilingual or multilingual is not a "thing" in society. It's only a cultural thing for individuals, for immigrants or children of immigrants. In other countries, it starts in kindergarten and elementary school, and it continues throughout a child's education. I definitely envy other countries for pushing the native language as well as the international language in schools.

As a woman who married a Vietnamese man, and I had a child at a young age by a different man (she's very well behaved, thank god. They loved her) but I tried so hard to observe the culture and do everything I could to try to impress them and in the end, they HATED me, and tried everything in their power to convince him not to marry me and find an Asian wife. I remember his father specifically saying 'I don't care what kind as long as shes Asian, like a nice Japanese or Korean woman' I was furious and hurt, I'm not a bad person but they just hated me. Seeing the way Deavon acts, I'm shocked that they gave a blessing in the end...she never speaks to them, kicked the mom out of the kitchen, never gives eye contact and has an air about her that says 'screw you I'm just here for Jihoon'

I didn't like Jihoon at first too, and I never disliked Deavan because who could have blamed her being so emotional and stressed when she didn't know about his crime and his debt until after she moved with him. I know they have some reservations about me being a foreigner but I think they like the fact that I plan to move to Korea to be with my boyfriend instead of taking their only son away from them to be with me in America.
