5 Important Things to Know Prior to Getting Breast Implants ❤️

1. Implants are not lifetime devices, it is recommended they be replaced at least every 10 years.
2. For silicone implants, the FDA recommends getting imaging every other year to check for a leak.
3. Before deciding on implants, educate yourself about breast implant illness. For more information go to my Plastic Surgery Blog on my website and select “Breast Procedures” in the drop down menu.
4. There is a rare lymphoma called BIA-ALCL associated with breast implants. It is predominantly associated with textured implants but this is still under research and investigation. The FDA also recently reported an additional cancer - squamous cell carcinoma that is associated with breast implants.
5. Allergan and Natrelle Biocelle textured implants known as the “gummy bear implants” were recalled by the FDA

I knew that I wanted breast implants way back in high school. I didn’t end up getting them until I was 27. It’s sounds crazy but it truly took me those 10 years to educate myself, find out what was best for me, and to find a doctor that I trusted. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and the results.
