I really enjoy your commentary which is perceptive and also light hearted. I like your gentle sense of humor. Thank you for these excellent presentations.
Hay Mato. Pa mislim da sam odgledao skoro 60% videa na kanalu, super. ja bih volio pogledati seriju Karpovih besmrtnih partija. Hvala. Veliki Pozdrav iz Bihaca, Bosna.
Mato, seems like the pre-investigation work i did few days ago brought some results. Notice that the "other guy" no longer clicks Dislike after you post a video. Probably scared we might throw a little search on his IP address and send a couple of boys to greet him. Now you only get 1 dislike once the video is up, which is not that bad. Probably some bald 50-year old locked in his momma's basement using dislike button to throw attention on himself and get pity from fine girls that visit your channel from time to time (yeah i've investigated that area too). Have a nice week!
Just a question for anyone who can answer. In the Roy Lopez opening or whatever. What is the purpose of the 3rd move where the bishop "attacks" the knight. Since the bishop cannot take the knight without being captured by a black pawn
when black pushes his/her d pawn the black knight will be pinned against the king. its a way to disable the knight until black attacks white's bishop with a pawn. then white can decide to capture the knight or save his/her bishop.
In the Ruy Lopez when they do that unless the opponent meets the move with 3. ...bd7. They will often go for the exchange on the knight. Forcing black to damage their pawn structure. Also black needs to be careful that they don't leave their e5 pawn hanging since the knight no longer defends it since it is pinned to the king.
Amazingly, it looks as if after 10...b6, Black was lost. White's advantage in time and maneuvering space, plus the target Black so obligingly provided, made Black's position untenable...against Alekhine, anyway.
Well, I saw none of the moves. Or better, I saw them but not their continuation because I was looking for quick checkmates. Usual mistake for me that cost me games.
It means Alekhine played against 51 opponents, going round and round playing a move on each board, one at a time. Some boards had multiple people deciding together what to play against him. So sometimes each "opponent" was actually a few people working together.
well, he's 2 pawns up, and white doesn't have any positional compensation for it, he can't really continue to attack because he needs to retreat his rook from d5 to d2 or to g5 to defend the pawn on g2.

Alekhine's games bring tears of joy to my eyes...
The best move for early lunch!! Memorable!

at 3:59 after Rc8, white could Kxa7; Qxa7; Qxc8 check; Qb8 defending and then Ra4 checkmate.
I mean Nxa7
Love Mato's commentaries! 'Perhaps he smelled lunch coming from hotel kitchen.'
Great game, Mato! I enjoyed watching this video
Bravo Mato Legendo svaka mista ima
Thanks Mato!
At 2:53... Why play the pawn when you can just run with the King?
He knew he would win the bishop like he did after 3:56.

Put pressure and prepare the board for other Plays i guess. ( i am not an expert, so i may be wrong)

+Julia McMeekan oh I see how it's now pinned. You can further develop the pawn structure while the pawn or knight is pinned
+Andre Simas so the bishop for knight sacrifice doubles the pawns, meaning it was a good trade?

True
amazing advance tempo by Alekhine.
rook from d7 to a7 looks more promising at 6.41

what does it mean by saying : "Alekhine played on 51 board "

Why is black winning after 22... Nxd5 23. Rxd5 Qxc6?
black is 2 pawns up

Please show us a game between Alekhine and Magnus Carlsen!
5 Year Old
You should check out the game between Carlsen and Tal in Mato's channel.
LOL
When one of my pet openings get played in matos video
first from egypt!
i expected vienna game...
Alekhine makes it seem so easy.
wow!
Not really a fair match. Alekhine was playing against only an Afritsch player.
Afritsch didn't do too badly -- at least he survived until the end game (and even some GMs didn't survive that long against Alekhine).
When it comes to attack., there is no match with Mikhail Tal.
"Afritsch" sounds like "average"... which he kind of was.
Above Afritsch stuff!
antoine average
