It is crazy that PIA had the terminal expansion built but yet it isn’t even used today. If I’m not mistaken, they don’t even use all the gates it the main terminal. But besides that, the airport has a great layout that feels very modern!
Both terminals are used, it’s just that the international expansion rarely sees international flights. However Allegiant uses those two gates as backup
I think as long as your bag can be stuffed into the personal item bag thing you're good. I've never had any issues with it. Got a 38L 'Hynes Eagle' backpack off Amazon and its been perfect.
as an allegiant employee your fist backpack was definitely ok as a free personal item , unless an agent is having a bad day lol they should let an inch over go as long as you can compact your bag under the seat in front of you. the measurement stand is more for when passengers bring hard shell carry on that are way to large to fit in the over head compartment. also choosing ur seat online will cost u depending on where on the plane you choose, so the further back the cheaper and you most likely will be zones 6-8
Allegiant suggests the same 2hrs for BLI (Bellingham, WA) and I always thought that was too much too... Until I saw the security line throughout the entire terminal with 2 Allegiant flights, the AS to SEA and WN to Vegas all within an hour, total hell LOL.
That’s a really cool shot of Bowling Green and Russellville. Driving between them always feels so long but then you see this and it makes them look so close.
I go way back in time when AA had BNA as a hub--remember clearly when I could fly a 727-200 IAH-BNA, an MD-80 BNA-BOS! Really interesting to see you flying from small downstate airports such as Bloomington, Champaign and Peoria. Your overnight stay at BNA reminds me of your vid about overnighting at LAX some time ago.
I’ll be covering the AA BNA hub in the next trip report! Yeah, I love flying from the downstate airports as it’s way more convenient. CMI being my home it’s just a lot easier than Chicago.
Back in my TV day I flew Allegiant from Peoria to Las Vegas. Even fighting a head wind we made it ahead of schedule. I would fly Allegiant agin for sure!
Zone 1 seat selection with bags. Zone 2 assigned seats with bags. Zone 3 Pre Selected Seats no bags. Zone 4 assigned seats no bags including standbys and non rev passengers. This is what I've learned from working with these low cost airlines. I may be a touch wrong in Zone 2 but this is what I've learned/noticed.
Their zones are 1-8, with 1 being Priority + 2 back of the AC - 8 front of the AC :) Also your original backpack would have been pretty fine - if it looks like it will squish up or be pliable, they usually don't mind if it looks "normal size".
They never size your carry on bro, unless it's obviously way too big. You definitely could have gotten on with your original back pack with not having to pay more. You were being a bit dramatic about the bag sizer bro 😂
Another great video! 2 hours before flight time is always way too much at Peoria. I'm usually there about an hour or less before departure. I love the terminal expansion but Peoria needs to put it to use with either a new airline or additional routes. Keep up the great work!
Thanks a lot! Hopefully PIA can attract some seasonal international routes from Allegiant so they can use the expansion, that would probably make the most sense.
I really like how you adventure on Airlines from my homestate of Illinois from an airport that isn't MDW or ORD! you rock
Thanks a lot! I enjoy these trips a lot more since they’re so much more convenient for me.
Great to see Peoria, my hometown on a video again! Great work!
Thanks a lot! Glad to be featuring our central Illinois cities a lot more on the channel now.
I really enjoy your trip reports. Thank you so much!!!

Exactly! It's so frustrating to see the new portion as a ghost town. Peoria desperately needs some new airlines and/or routes.
@@309Aviation I definitely agree!

The only US-based ULCC I've taken is Avelo. Still there's a good chance I'll end up on Allegiant in an upcoming year.
Never flown Avelo but I’ve heard decent things about them!
@@ASAviation They have good crew but there’s nothing else really worth noting.
@@ASAviation they fly seasonally from Midway to New Haven 🤷♂

PIA is the 3rd busiest, just slightly ahead of MLI
I think we arrived less than a hour before departure for a recent flight out of PIA and still had plenty of spare time.
Omggg I was in that video working the American flight inbound from dfw!

I’ve been wanting to fly on that.
