Level 74 doesn't allow you to drop mythicals, it allows you to EQUIP myhticals, you were always able to get them before, its just you werent in the right place to get them. Now that you're level 74, i can imagine you probably want mythical gear, and a great first spot is something i already mentioned before, which is Tinkerers Lab nightmare hardcore first wave, but it is quite difficult (although not impossible), another option is endless spires nightmare hardcore first wave, MUCH easier but not as efficient. I can tell this will be a giant step in your playthrough and i am excited to see what comes next. Happy hunting, Pat.
If he wants the super slow progression still and less cheesy approach, combined with a tough challenge... I think City in the cliffs on hard or insane actually rewards mythic random rewards worth going for. Another similar option is Arcane Library. Need other heroes to challenge nightmare and then the survivals yet I think.

My brother and I used to play this game every day when we were younger together great memories! I convinced him to start doing a new run with me years later! Congrats on level 74! I cannot wait to see what you do with the series !
I randomly decided to look up Dungeon Defenders after having not played it since it was an Xbox 360 game with gold title. Crazy how relevant this game still is and your videos convinced me to pick up the game with all dlc with the current sale ($10 usd or so). Wish it was backwards compatible on Xbox, but it's so cool this game is still getting love and updates.
Slight correction on stat bonuses: the percentage of increase actually varies based on the quality of the gear. For cursed to godly, the armor piece will get a 25% increase, 30% for mythical, 33% for transcendent, 36% for supreme and 40% for ultimate and higher. Don’t memorize the exact values. The takeaway here is that higher quality should be used whenever applicable (though I think you knew that already lol 😅). An even MORE important note: you cannot combine cursed-godly armor with mythical and higher. The set bonus will not activate! This is simply because mythical and higher gear is on another plane of existence when compared to godly and lower. So, when you get your first couple of mythical pieces and the set bonus doesn’t active, this is why. Last note: set bonuses up to this point in the game really aren’t mandatory, but are almost necessary once you get mythical and higher gear. The reason is just because 25% of low stats is still pretty low stats. (This of course does not mean that it doesn’t help, just that it isn’t essential). But, when you get to mythical and above, 30+ % of high stats = very high stats. I wouldn’t say any of this is critical information, but it’s good to keep to in mind ;)
I agree with you that sets are not mandatory uptil mythicals when you know what you're doin but for a new player, the 25% boost on sets are quite nice and helpful. I myself used it after a 'reset' (and going into redux) and it helped me cut a bit of time farming for the mythicals. Hell, full set godly got me into endless spires survival nmhc. Though i have to admit i had a lvl 74+ jester dps with a pawnshot with me :P (kingsgame ftw :P)

A lot of people are talking about grinding Tinkers, which is definitely the best way to do this, however I recommend doing some early nightmare levels if you want a slower progression. Not sure if that’s what you want, but it’s what I did. Good luck here on out!
When i was looking for my first myths, what i did was farm magus quarters on insane hc survival. from like wave 18 to 20 and up myths start dropping. That should help you get geared up a bit for trying out endless spires nightmare hc. Its quite testy but if you can unlock the survival mode on that level, then you can farm endless spires nightmare hc for some high lvl mythicals. dont worry about completing that survival run. its quite hard without using everything within your power like using minions and strength drain aura's and great gear sets. But every item especially from chests can drop mythicals with stats in the 100's in towers which is a treasuretrove. One more thing. to get the set bonus, you either wear uptil godly or full myth and up. you wont get a set bonus matching godly and myths.
We know how much you love the squire builds, me too, but if you threw that gear on an EV after 2-3 glitterhelm runs to level it you could probably run through tinkers lab nightmare hardcore first wave like people are recommending. That’s just for efficiency sake, and it would probably make for a good challenge. At the end of the day get your gear however you can!
Another way to get mythicals fast, other than clobzz way, and most likely more fun, is the following. Do the deeper well-magus quarters campaign on nightmare. This will give you tons of mythicals. Once done, skip the boss and move on the the next set of three. Do this until you reach the summit. You will gain tons of mythicals that way.
Oh, by the way. Start lvling your EV. If you thought the strengthdrain aura was a gamechanger, wait till you start experimenting with EV's buffbeam. 😅 For myself i usually got 2 EV's. 1 fully focussed on tower health for the walls and another for all the other tower stats (mainly tower damage). I do this because i dont really like minion walls. if 1 minion breaks, the whole wall will break due to the domino effect of 1 minion dying, losing the buffbeam boosting those minions because of it, then the other minions suddenly be squishy. its a pain. Whichever way you go, dont forget that you can chop up the workload over several characters instead of having 1 that is a jack of all trades and master of none.
Congrats on lvl 74. Now the quest is to actually find myth gear, which is a different story. Getting lvl 74 itself doesn't do much at all, I regret to inform you. Gear will always be more important than your level. PS: At the end of the last run you walked past 2 chain helmets, which you need to complete your armor set haha.
Spike blockades are arguably better than the slice n dice for 2 reasons. They have far more hp iirc, and they also cost significantly less defense units. 6 du gets you 2 walls on wider lanes and better closes off the lane from enemies potentially slipping by a single slice n dice. The spare du can also be used for summoning more supportive towers like the monk auras or EV buff beam. At the end of the day, it comes down to preference though. Until you get to the non campaign and shards maps, just about anything has the potential to work outside of nightmare mode 👍.
I have a question, is this playable on steam deck? I use to play back on 360 but I'm picking up a deck and this was the first game I thought of getting, redux and all the dlc and what not, can it he played with the deck itself, do you need a controller to play? I need all the info 🤓😂
