Afterthought: we filmed this one yesterday and it worked pretty well but I felt that the tube was a bit weak and colors were washed out (compared to the tubes from our online shop). The thing is that the cake collar is more opaque than my Rosco clear gel and yes, it makes a difference. But I'm happy to provide a DIY solution that is going to help a few of you guys to come up with your own version of the rainbow tube. Let me know if you find any other tricks or if you try with other holographic colors
I made mine in a similar way using an acetate sheet instead of the cake sleeve, I cut the strip of acetate half the inner circumference & about full length of the tube & matched it with the self adhesive vinyl securing it at either end in exactly the same way, therefore the colours stay bright, they are only reflecting through the tube. I have about 7 different holographic colours from China but these have a fluffy material on the back, I think they are mainly used for handbags & such like, with these there is no need to stick them to anything, just cut to the length of the tube & half the inner circumference & use as an inner sleeve to the tube, these are so easy to slide in & out of the tube that I don't need as many expensive acetate tubes.
I appreciate that you guys make video helping other to make their own diy tubes, while also having your own brand of tubes that you sell. Look forward to trying this out and love the effects it creates
Thanks! I think that it makes sense as I've always pushed for diy version (from way before I started to sell the tubes). But it took me so long to figure out the way to make the holographic ones. What I'm showing in this video is an "easy" version, but mine are still brighter, stronger, and they smell better. Wait, what?
@@Ericpare I've just seen alot of others, once they started to sell products they just try to push them. But what's this, they smell better? Well now I have to get one to see.. lol... and Go Canada!!
Once again, Eric and Kim amaze. Not only for their amazing creativity but for willing to share the secrets to these amazing tools. Go out and create, everyone!!
I ordered some light painting tools but I'm playing with making my own while I wait for them to arrive. I couldn't find T8 tubes locally, only T12 so I'm not having as much luck. I noticed the tube you took the last set of videos with was black on the back side so I'm going to try one with black vinyl on the back and the other with only the cake collar and the holographic layer. I bought holographic blue tape by Duck Tape and put that on the outside of a tube before my cake collar came in. I found I had to turn my ISO up a bit more with that one to get good color.
You are great artists, thank you very much for the great tips, the great videos and for passing on your knowledge. Especially the locations and moods are great. I am totally excited and inspired by your work. Stay healthy.
I have never done tube light painting so I would love to win this tube and do it for my first time. Thank you for this DIY and all your knowledge you share so generously with everyone!
Thanks for sharing! I have tried the metallic paper as well but have not had much success making my own rainbow tube so I got one of yours! Thank you for publishing the videos as they are inspirational to get out and try new ideas/locations!
I believe that you can also get a roll of Duc tape that has a similar rainbow color. It's already a narrow strip so might be a little easier. Also if you roll the tube you could just apply to the inside before rolling. I'm currently experimenting with a UV flashlight and a UV reactive film inside a tube.
Amazing tutorial and images as always. I stumbled across your work on Instagram and was mindblown. You’ve opened my mind to photography that I didn’t even know was possible without computer editing. Absolutely stunning work.
I've never tried light painting, but I'd love to! Thanks for the tutorial, I never imagined that doing a magic tube would be so easy. Loved the rainbow part, very creative use of reflections!
Thanxs so much for inspiring us, and share the tools and ideas to create pure magic! It really feels like Apple who is explaining how to build youre diy iPhone wich normally they would never tell. Due this the world will be more beautiful (painted) 🤩
The way you share your knowledge is admirable. Inspired by you, I'm starting to play with light painting here, and all of your videos are a big help. 😊
I''m having trouble finding which tube sizes you are covering. Are you using T-8 tube sizes? And Wow! I'm a new fan! Kim is the perfect model and spokesperson too!! And Eric you are so talented as a photographer, presenter, entrempeneur, and designer of tools! Merci beaucoup mes ami!!
I discovered you guys and lightpainting today. I am SOOOO excited where I’m sitting here. Today I am just watching your Videos, Thank you, thank you.! Imam planning to introduce some of this techniques in my Wedding photography business.
I love seeing all of the old versions of rainbow ideas. Kim Henry IS the rainbow girl 🤣❤️ Also, I would like to see more rainbow vinyl on cake collars on cakes. That would make it look even more delicious.
Is the holographic/vinyl sheet supposed to be translucent? It doesn't seem to be in this video. Which makes me wonder why the vinyl was peeled off and not just used as is?
Hello, I'm not a professional but you are such a great inspiration for me. Thank you for all your good tips! Never tried metallic paper. I would love to test this! 🤞🇵🇹
Super Tuto.
Hi Eric, I live in London and wanted to buy some tubes from you, but unfortunately I'll be hit by very high custom fees, could you pls tell me if I can find the tubes to buy on Amazon? I tried all the shops I could think of but couldn't find any plexi glass tubes with a long length. I really appreciate your help. Thanks for sharing your videos with us they are great inspiration

What you describe works too! But we found out that it's easier to assemble (and it's more solid in the end) when sticking it to the transparent filter
Thanks for sharing it again.
I try with this its awesome
Very cool, but where does the cat fit into the construction instructions??
In every step! You already knew that, right? :D
Always inspiring
Coucou , une fois collé sur le papier a Gâteau , je roule le papier holographique vers l'extérieur , c'est bien ça Eric ? MERCI PAR AVANCE
