You need more aquatic plants in the water and marginal plants on the shorelume for food for the turtles as well as shade makers for the fish. Some fallen lofs inthe water and on the shoreline into the water will be helpful too for hiding places for the turles as well as basking spots.

@@tf4606 That’s cool. But if he wants a healthy ecosystem he could very, very easily add more vegetation, which would benefit all the fish and wouldn’t affect the viewing at all. I’m sure he knows this though.
It’s just a very strange choice in my opinion. Adding more beneficial stuff for the animals would do literally nothing but help the fish and wouldn’t do anything bad at all for him. The ponds look more like they’re from a factory fish farm more than anything right now.

A lot of nature is like that. If you find it helpful maybe grow a garden or go fishing, quiet time in nature is so under-rated when it comes to medical benefits. Stress is the deadliest poison we consume. I used to just sit in a chair in the garden, watch my TH-cam videos there, smoke and wait for things to show up. I made friends with a rabbit, came face to face with a coyote, and a dog came to say hello too. I'm rambling but it was so nice.

The Bluegill I caught in that lake looked like Crappie and the best eating you can imagine. Not the small ones your used to seeing. During the bullfrogs mating season, you could see the sunken trees below you on the boat and all the frog eggs hanging off the limbs, the water was clear as well. If you like to travel, please look it up next vacation. They have cabins and camping area.

if you planted bushes around shores the ponds, certainly a lot of insects will come for them.Especially dragonflies and mosquitoes. That insects are essential for ecosystem like this.most crucial tip on this job,you must avoid from water hungry plants like eucalyptus. You can be surprised when you see how rapidly they can consume pond water.
my last advice is you can planting water straws. Catfishes enjoy hanging among straws and probably they prefer egging on there.
Water straws are really important.if there was few water straws ducks did not fly from there.

If his pond is visited by migratory birds, it's possible he won't need to introduce them.

@@thatcanuck5670 you're thinking of fingernail clams. Freshwater mussels distribute themselves through fish that bite their "lures" and carry their glochidia to new places.

🐢 FYI, I read in some of his replies on this video, that the Bass and Catfish are staying in the original pond since it is a 3 hour drive to the new ponds and may stress or kill them so he doesn't want to risk it! There are about 25 fish there, but there is plenty of food for them in the pond to eat and they also will get fed twice a week. 👍✌

so hyped on how the pond is going everything seems happy to live there. I want to see a shaded area for each pond so that the fish get a cool place to hide

You should start with the plankton and water plants, that's what missing from the food chain in your ponds.😉
Crayfish would be a great addition too.
