Lambing 2025 has Started!

- We were hoping we would not have any lambs born during the extremely cold weather but, the ewes had different ideas. One of our Jacob ewes, Patsy, had her lamb today on the coldest night of the winter so far. It is to go to -12 F tonight. It was 0 degrees F in the barn tonight. Fortunately, the brooder is working well, it is 50 degrees for the lamb under the brooder. All the other livestock are doing well so far. It is to warm up a bit in a few days to a seasonably normal mid to upper 20s. We have 2 more ewes due in a few days. We hope the hold off until Wednesday. Thanks for joining us at Norwal Farm.

Hopefully the other pregnant animals will wait to deliver when it warms up somewhat.
She is doing ok, so far. It will be critical the next few days but, so far, so good!

We are getting really nice lambs from him. #21, the prolapse ewe, had large twin ram lambs unassisted this morning by Lamborghini. There will be a video.
Hi, guys! I think you mentioned on Lynn and Arnie's channel that this is a Lamborghini lamb?
Yes, all of this group of 9 (2 Jacob Sheep and 7 Ile de France ewes) are bred to Lamborghini. The Ile de France ewe lambs were bred to Lambert, our Ile de France ram and our 4 registered Suffolks are bred to Lamborghini. These last 2 groups will lamb late March and early/mid-April. The White Dorpers are bred to the White Dorper ram and will lamb late April/early May.
Happy to see things going so well. All your planning with the cameras and the heat lamps are working well. Lambing in January can make everything a bit harder and you were well prepared.
Hows the Ewe with the prolapse doing. She's due tomorrow I think. Fingers crossed all will be ok for her. Glad the temps have moderated a bit.
So far so good! The prolapse ewe, #21, surprised us this morning with twin ram lambs! She didn't show any signs of labor last night at 11 when we went to bed. Got up this morning and she had lambed unassisted, harness intact, and both lambs standing and still wet. Mother Nature is amazing. New video upcoming.
Yea Patsy did a great job. Looks like the lamb will be warm enough. Thank goodness it’s going to warm up tomorrow. Maybe the rest will wait until it does. How is the one with the harness on doing?
She is doing well, quiet so far. She is due on the 23rd, Thursday. Hopefully she waits.
