When diode is ON, charge carriers are moving. But to turn Diode OFF, we need to recover those charges, before recovery of charges you cannot turn OFF diode. That time is reverse recovery time, mean time to recover from ON to OFF for charge carrier.

OFF state resistance is large.
In forward bias resistance should be as low as possible to have less power dissipation.
