Agreed, I purchased the LG, and I am absolutely thrilled with it.. powerful and amazing Android device.. though I agree, its hard to pick. :) Both are slick, and the HTC devices are wonderful too.
They handle wallpaper cropping differently. LG sets it up the traditional way to work in both portrait and landscape views, HTC goes for a single view portrait crop.
I went away from the iPhone 5 today and purchased LG G2 and I really love it. Beautiful screen, lightweight body and great battery! Very happy with this comparison video and thrilled with my new phone! Thanks, Lisa.
Lisa, great review! The fact that you set the same wallpaper on both smartphones gave us the chance to see actual difference in colour reproduction. In my opinion, this is a must in a "vs"
Not really. Most recent smartphones have 2,000 to 2300 mAh batteries. Occasionally you get lucky and hit 2,500 as with the GS4. Only phablets have higher capacity batteries than the G2.
LOL HTC ONE FANBOYS.It has a better speaker and maybe a better design which is subjective. -LG G2 feels better because of the ergonomic design -Better specs -Better battery -Better Display -The phone is as big as the HTC ONE meanwhile it has a bigger screen. -Slimer edge.
LISA THANK YOU! Now I am hooked on your reviews. Very nicely done to the point makes it easy to decide. What a time saver! I must have a camera that has phone capability and a huge screen for videos or movies! This is my baby step or speed crawl to a tablet. Of course I am watching YOUR REVIEWS to decide what tablet to get! Please share your recommendations especially if the tablet has calling capability! I have liked, subscribed, commented, most definitely will share on facebook and will stay tuned. Three checks plus. Keeping coming!
Great review! I bought the LG G2 over the HTC One and I have no regrets... I love the phone, like how big the screen is and the battery lasts over a day as you mentioned! I think the selling point for me was the camera, 4 "ultra" pixels were not convincing me at all... Thanks for this video!
I am putting cyanogenmod on it anyway , and if the software on G2 is a deal breaker for you than I would suggest putting custom ROMs on it , if you don't know anything about it , just pay somebody to do it , its worth it.
FOKI5895 Now the official lollipop is out and it's way sexier than the touchwiz UI even with lollipop. And g2's are going for under $200 now I just picked one up for T-mobile for only $150 because my Note 3's LCD cracked.
answer, when the headphone jack is at the top of the phone you will have to rotate it when putting the phone inside your pocket so that the headphone jack remains at top....but when the jack is at the bottom you don't have to rotate the phone when placing it in your pocket so that the headphone jack remains on top when placed inside your pocket. got it?
HTC One! Got it and Love it! Tested both phones out and have to say, i liked HTC One more than G2! I love myself that i got the HTC One! Loving that phone :)
I must say I just went from a Lumia 920 to a HTC ONE. I am honestly going to say that I love my lumia. I was hoping to get the LG G2 but the deal was right for the HTC ONE. Im going to wait for the next LG or I may actually go back to a windows phone. Hoping that 8.1 update helps me make my choice a little easier.
as you said, " there's no perfect cellphone"..i have an htc one and still loving it BUT you're right about the camera comparison..i wish HTC could hear your comment..more pixels for more details + their existing ultra pixel = more satisfied users
External SD card beside a 32GB internal memory, a joke? I can store extra documents and pictures on the external memory. I see nothing funny about that.
***** Yes it is especially useful when we are changing phones and all we need to do is pluck out the sd card and into the new phone without using cables and pc to transfer anything or cloud system to upload and download. Plus transferring with the exact same format and folder we have set.
I'd love removable SD--AND ability to plug in flash drives on phones and tablets--but still G2 is superior: prettier, bigger and longer-lasting screen than Galaxy S3/4/5 AMOLED w its blue pixel BURNOUT!! Jeez, you'd think Samsung would've solved that?? And far better camera!
Thanks Lisa for this comparison coz this is what i was waiting for as i am not interested in S4 so these are the two phones between which i have to choose one!
I have LG G2 and don't compare it with lower phones like HTC one. Compare it with note 3. LG G2 is such a beast phone. can play any hardcore games in the market, so many customization and no freakin lag. Oh and battery life is just amazying. heavy usage (checking fb every 20min) and it lasted almost 2 days. I LOVE G2. So far, in my opinion, its the best phone next to note 3.
Also I'm Korean. I just wanna tell ya guys about 4G in America and Korea. Most of companies have introduced many phones function as 4G. However it's actually limited in Korea only. The speed of internet connection of Korea is 3/4 (approximately) faster than America. I guess it's because Korea has a lot of More developed LTE zones almost everywhere but America doesn't. You can think 2.5~3.0 G in America normally.
Lisa, which one from the two you compared is better for the eyes for reading stuff (i.e. less strain, better reproduction, etc). Either browsing or just reading through novels..
Lisa coulkd you make comparison of G2 and Nexus 5, im about to renew my contract in 2 months, id like to pick G2 or Nexus 5. I have tried G2, its screen is amazing and the bezel is quiet thin and attractive, but most important is the UI on G2 is blazing fast which is quiet a steal for me. Havent tried Nexus 5 yet, so please make comparison of the two since they are similar inside
i always prefer to watch your phone review compare to others .. cause most of the time you are not biased , so the review end up like a perspective of the user and not a sponsor or people have been paid to do review on specific brand.
I have the G2...love it. I'm on my second one, traded it then came back to it. Reason being, the camera. Its horrible indoors with dim lighting, and if you have little ones, if very slow in focusing. I thought my first G2 came out,bad but it's the same issue on my second one. Find it impossible to take good pics of my kids if they're moving around.
I like how Lisa responds to some questions. But ignores other questions and comments like the display in the g2 is better when there's 40 plus pixels more and half an inch less for pixels on the one and on the vid the g2 does sound louder
I absolutely love my LG G2. It's a definite win :D. And it's fairly future proof especially when considering that the next generation processor is in the phone which will find its way (more then likely) into the next HTC flagship phone.
For the people who claim the htc one is better than the lg g2 are or maybe really slow . I research anything that has to do with technology. I've compared both phones Lg G2 and HTC one both are good in there own way , but when compared against each other the clear winner is the Lg G2 1. Performance- G2 has the snapdragon 800 vs HTC one snapdragon 600 winner g2 . battery life g2 40 hours heavy usage WiFi,candy crush screen 90 % Brightness and playing modern combat 4 and plus texting calling and music . that was on my trip to Texas on the bus . HTC one only lasted 20 hours with candy crush modern combat 4 and talking on the phone . that was on my bus ride back from Texas to new York I had to switch back to my g2 . Camera with optical image stabilization and 13 megapixels I got some really amazing shots even in dark light shots but the HTC one took better shot only at night and at day time they were really terrible very over saturated plus blurrly and no optical image stabilizer. Music test cleary HTC one is louder but I lg g2 isn't far behind when you play certain songs the g2 is sometimes louder than the htc one, well for me it is . and software I don't know why everybody gets on lg for their software saying its childish and ugly when its so much easily customizable even without root you change how the ui looks . HTC one ui is basic stock android an HTC sense 5 fused together its decent I prefer the old HTC sense look . I actually got bored of stock after owning the galaxy nexus and lg nexus .although kit kat 4.4 looks sexy . And also for the people who say the lg ui is childish , then you must also think than Samsung ui and the I phone iOS 6 or 7 is childish although the apple phones aren't even close to being the same level as android when it come to customizations. Plus the LG-G2 has a lot of cool featured like knock knock, guest mode very very helpful,it blaster controls even ac plus the basic ,buttons at the back which I wouldn't really say is a feature just innovation but you can't take pictures quick by holding the back volume key and activate quick memo and its easy to get used to. The one is the same every other phone buttons for volume are placed on the sides . if you want something totally different and unique plus go with lg g2 and if you something that that the same evey other phone go with HTC one . and I say that I mean buttons of every phone being on the sides not on the back.
Both of them are good phones and better than S4. I would pick LG G2 because it has more battery life, bigger display and less than half years old. Too bad they don't have Butterfly S in the US, I would have pick it with heartbeat...
The HTC is legally jailbroke if the phone is purchased outright. They provided me with the unlock code and soon I'm off to Mejico Lindo. My Telcel GSM SIM is already en route to my stateside manse complete with Mexican phone # and airtime. As soon as I step off the plane in Mexico City the HTC will already be working. Is the sexy LG CDMA & GSM compatible by providing a swap out micro SIM slot?
Thats what i was thinking looking at the Optimus pro vs nexus 4 the Optimus had a 13 MP camera. Unfortunatly im one of those spec junkies so if the nexus has the newer processor and camera and battery im jumping ship from my HTC One. So you have done several reviews. How would you personally rack and stack the new lineup of devices. G2, HTC ONe, S4, Moto X, Xperia z?
Ryan Payne when she did the audio for the htc one the volume wasn't even close to full volume and the song she used was a slow paced soft song compared to the higher pitched song on the G2. Trust me that when it comes to audio quality nothing beats the htc one.
All that matters for me the is audio output from the headphone jack. GSMArena runs RMA tests and the HTC One does well. Sure those exterior speakers sound better than your average smartphone speaker but by definition it is no match to proper desktop speakers. (obviously).
I have used both phones multiple times, and the HTC does not have a "premium" feel. It feels cheap and that painted aluminum is bound to scratch. It has a smaller screen and looks like crap to be honest. The G2 is a way better phone (unless you have manlet hands). Get some big hands boy stop playing with barbies.
G2 rules. LG KILLED the competition w G2, the gorgeous Flex and now G3. In "Demolition Man," , Saandra Bullock says, "Now all restaurants [after the fast food wars of the 90s] are Taco Bell!" One day, all phones will be LG.
Not really because everyone has different opinions. I could choose the HTC One over the G2 cause of UI, build quality, and speakers. Or LG G2 cause of it's specs. So it really does "depends on what you want". Apparently you seem bias towards the LG G2.
Re: HTC One's speakers, I use a bluetooth JBL Flip speaker for amazing, bass-thumpin', room-filling sound under $90. Would love the ext. speakers, but bluetooth capability and earbuds render the speakers moot.
Simply because there are billions of people on the planet, and everyone has different taste. Mobile Tech Review just goes over the pros and cons of each device so you, the consumer, can decide which phone is best for you.
Someone help me decide! Never owned a smartphone before, but was looking at the LG G2, HTC One, Moto X, or possibly the Galaxy S4. G2 is the newest so that seems like it would be the best bet? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Usually know what I'm looking at with tech but never got into smartphones until now, just never saw the need before.
The screen of the LG G pro 2 is setting the standard for 2014, the rest will follow with tears in their eyes. The big screen will blast samsung s5 and note from the market. True IPS+ LCD 1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.9 inches (~373 ppi pixel density) Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Perfect for watching videos.
I had a tough time deciding between these two phones..went with the G2 and havent looked back..only complaint with the G2 is the knock on feature (where you tap the screen to wake the phone)..sometimes it can be unresponsive..the volume and power buttons being on the rear also take some getting used to..other than that, great phone
I just got the G2 today after having the HTC for a total of 2 days. The battery life on the ONE is horrible sure it sounds good but what good is that when your phone is always on low. The G2 is a great phone. Make sure you get a phone case tho or else it does feel kind of awkward
In my humble opinion, both G2 and HTC one are the two best android phones now in terms of hardware. Only bad point for me is the manufacturer's UI. I prefer stock android or cyanogenmod.
as you guy can see, G2 has definitely better specs than HTC except audio. If you give me a chance to pick one, i would do G2. Without audio, G2 is generally better than htc one. especially knock-on.. really attractive and screen
Ironic, isn't it? That's just your opinion. You value technical specifications and you rule solely on which phone is more advanced. HTC has it's own merits. Someone might love HTC simply because he/she's been a loyal customer that has never been disappointed in the products they offer.
I don't find not having SD card slot is that big of deal. It's good that you get more storage. But you can't even install apps on the SD card. Plus it's annoy that to be able to take out the SD card you must first turn off the device and take out the case and the cover. Sometimes you might forget that you have a SD card inside the phone and you might sell the phone with the SD card in it. Why not just connect the phone to the computer and save all the files there. Don't get me wrong i think SD card is useful but it's not a big deal to me.
being honest (i love the htc) you didnt give the lg's display as much credit as you shouldve... from my experience ive noticed that the lg has a much better display. you said they were comparable but i think its almost obvious how much better the lg's screen looks. its even noticable if you dont have a keen eye for these type of things.
Couldn't agree more. People fighting about phone cameras are pretty stupid. They're for on the spot photos and videos. Even my 5 year old 5.1 mp digital camera beats today's best camera phones. If quality matters that much, go get your real camera. Hell, leave it in the car and it'll be there anywhere your phone is for the most part. Sometimes I just don't get people :D
For you maybe. You're clearly missing the whole point @Terrence Weston was trying to make. It's an implied competition based on the title. The G2 wins in every single category except speakers (slightly and this can be fixed with Viper4 audio mod) and the opinion based one, which is "design". I for one am not interested in how 'shiny' my phone is or how 'premium' it feels. Why would you? All that actually matters is what it does. And the G2 does everything just a little bit better.
i think its kinda unfair on the htc... its been out for longer so people have had more time to figure out stuff thats wrong with it whereas the lg has only been out for a few months... they should come back with a review of the G2 after 6 months or something... i personally haven't experienced either because i really really wanted a htc one and am currently using an LG kp170 (which i hate) so any smartphone would be a massive upgrade for me. But i still think the htc one is better, personally.
HTC one for those speakers and coz I get a better resale.. In my country no 1 buys an lg phone.. Except for the nexus.. But the nexus 5 has camera issues.. HTC one for me..
Both great phones, you can't really go wrong with either one, it's just so hard to decide!

Hey Lisa; excellent, well presented and comprehensive analysis - I always enjoy your videos! Keep it up (",)
Thank you for comparing the audio! Loads of reviewers are missing this vital info.
Oh, and LMAO at the audio test. Two different songs, two different volumes, two different comparisons. FAIL.
What do you think about the HTC One max for taking videos
LOL HTC ONE FANBOYS.It has a better speaker and maybe a better design which is subjective.
-LG G2 feels better because of the ergonomic design
-Better specs
-Better battery
-Better Display
-The phone is as big as the HTC ONE meanwhile it has a bigger screen.
-Slimer edge.
The Nexus 5 may be a reduced feature version of the LG G2, so the choice may not be that easy.
LISA THANK YOU! Now I am hooked on your reviews. Very nicely done to the point makes it easy to decide. What a time saver! I must have a camera that has phone capability and a huge screen for videos or movies! This is my baby step or speed crawl to a tablet. I love this womans reviews, just great and informative. subscribed, she is now my goto reviewer, well done, keep up the good work!
Great review! I bought the LG G2 over the HTC One and I have no regrets... I love the phone, like how big the screen is and the battery lasts over a day as you mentioned! I think the selling point for me was the camera, 4 "ultra" pixels were not convincing me at all... Thanks for this video!
I've been debating which 1 is better for me...
You were very helpful so thank you for making this video :)
Lisa should pick the LG G2. It has your intials. (LG) Lisa Gade
Sorry, but I don't get how anyone find LG G2 interface appealing. Call me crazy but I would pick touchwiz over that.
LG has work to do on the UI cosmetically, but functionality wise it's the best UI out there.
Touchwiz is pumping out u're battery :) One tip from me :)
Ik they are both 32 GB, but how many GB do you get in the HTC One from out the box? Ik the LG G2 has 24 GB out the box.
26 GB (according to phonearena)
Magnus Liljeqvist how much yu get for the lg g2 16gb ?
Rifaz Ameer as you loose 8gb on the 32gb version i GUESS 8gb free on the 16gb version on the LG G2 but thats just a guess
32 or 64 GB you can choose but 64GB is more expensive.
Question, isn't the headphone jack at the bottom of the g2 really uncomfortable when on pocket listening to music?
answer, when the headphone jack is at the top of the phone you will have to rotate it when putting the phone inside your pocket so that the headphone jack remains at top....but when the jack is at the bottom you don't have to rotate the phone when placing it in your pocket so that the headphone jack remains on top when placed inside your pocket. got it?
Gurram Vishal really....that depends how you personally put the phone in your pants. ..
Specs and softwares, G2 is the one.
HTC One! Got it and Love it! Tested both phones out and have to say, i liked HTC One more than G2! I love myself that i got the HTC One! Loving that phone :)
ok lisa, good review once again. Now lets do a review on the g pad 8.3 been waiting forever:-) please.
Just I ordered a G2. Simply can't wait for it's awesomeness!
Lg g2 is the best
sd cards are a joke, internal memory is far more superior
And? Even so, it doesn't render SD cards useless. It is even more convenient to include an SD card slot on top of a large amount of inbuilt storage.

Tim McShane You can plug flash drives in any modern android phone via usb otg
Thanks for responding and I actualy hope they wont make it too expensive, because im thinking about getting a cheaper contract after this year.
Thanks Lisa for this comparison coz this is what i was waiting for as i am not interested in S4 so these are the two phones between which i have to choose one!

Lisa Gade, how can u compare the speaker sound by playing different songs with different gains on each phone????!
Lisa, which one from the two you compared is better for the eyes for reading stuff (i.e. less strain, better reproduction, etc). Either browsing or just reading through novels..
Had them both and while each one has its advantages ,personally I preferred the htc one overall .
thank god, an unbiased video!
I need to buy a phone today and still can't decide

I love lisa's reviews...best in business
Great comparison video, as always

Very nice review it really helps me choose the right device great job
Wish you used the same song for the speaker test so we get a true speakerphone comparison.
Both of them are good phones and better than S4. I would pick LG G2 because it has more battery life, bigger display and less than half years old. Too bad they don't have Butterfly S in the US, I would have pick it with heartbeat...
Lg g2 is awesome and insane fast...
The HTC is legally jailbroke if the phone is purchased outright. They provided me with the unlock code and soon I'm off to Mejico Lindo. I traded my htc one 4 lg g2 cus it has better resolution and better specs. Alot of ppl complaint about screen prob but my was great. Love it.
THIS is the real good smackdown! Two phones with the best screens!!! But of course LG G2 wins hands down.
I choose the G2 because of the better camera (except Zoe's) and battery life. I'm tired of charging a phone everyday by 6pm
Have my s4 and planning to resell because of its lag sometimes... Just wondering if g2 and htc also lags even in the minimal? Pls answer tnx
So the International LG G2 has no microsd slot but it is only stock 32GB ? or you can pick 16 or 32 ?
I would play games on a phone. Because of the one's superior oudio quality i would have bought that one, if i did not use earphones all the time.
Someone help me decide! Never owned a smartphone before, but was looking at the LG G2, HTC One, Moto X, or possibly the Galaxy S4. G2 is the newest so that seems like it would be the best bet? The screen of the LG G pro 2 is setting the standard for 2014, the rest will follow with tears in their eyes. The big screen will blast samsung s5 and note from the market. True IPS+ LCD 1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.9 inches (~373 ppi pixel density) Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Perfect for watching videos.
I have the HTC one no complaints from me about it
I had a tough time deciding between these two phones..went with the G2 and havent looked back..only complaint with the G2 is the knock on feature (where you tap the screen to wake the phone)..sometimes it can be unresponsive..the volume and power buttons being on the rear also take some getting used to..other than that, great phone
That poor G2 you have really smacked that thing about over the last few days Lisa, lol
I just got the G2 today after having the HTC for a total of 2 days. The battery life on the ONE is horrible sure it sounds good but what good is that when your phone is always on low. The G2 is a great phone. Make sure you get a phone case tho or else it does feel kind of awkward
BEST smartphone of 2013!
specs and price wise, I'll go for G2! :)
@seth att's logo is pretty subtle though. verizon puts it on the front too in the event you put a case on the phone
G2 is sooooo much better than the One. Sold my One for the G2 and I'm super happy.
Thank you very much for this video
being honest (i love the htc) you didnt give the lg's display as much credit as you shouldve... from my experience ive noticed that the lg has a much better display. you said they were comparable but i think its almost obvious how much better the lg's screen looks. its even noticable if you dont have a keen eye for these type of things.
Hey Lisa. Could you please review Sony Xperia Z1?
Couldn't agree more. People fighting about phone cameras are pretty stupid. They're for on the spot photos and videos. Even my 5 year old 5.1 mp digital camera beats today's best camera phones. If quality matters that much, go get your real camera. Hell, leave it in the car and it'll be there anywhere your phone is for the most part. Sometimes I just don't get people :D
Love your taste in Cars!!
Can u please compare lg g2 and htc desire 816?thansk
LG G2
At 3:45 when you had the phones turned around, what a difference!O.O
For you maybe. You're clearly missing the whole point @Terrence Weston was trying to make. It's an implied competition based on the title. The G2 wins in every single category except speakers (slightly and this can be fixed with Viper4 audio mod) and the opinion based one, which is "design". I for one am not interested in how 'shiny' my phone is or how 'premium' it feels. Why would you? All that actually matters is what it does. And the G2 does everything just a little bit better.
Great review thank you very much.
i think its kinda unfair on the htc... its been out for longer so people have had more time to figure out stuff thats wrong with it whereas the lg has only been out for a few months... they should come back with a review of the G2 after 6 months or something... i personally haven't experienced either because i really really wanted a htc one and am currently using an LG kp170 (which i hate) so any smartphone would be a massive upgrade for me. But i still think the htc one is better, personally.
I'd like to see a smackdown between iPhone 5s and LG g2 it sounds like a clash of a titans :D
I have tested these two devices. ofcourse one !! sound, camera, design
when is ios7 review coming?
Htc One
I do on my GS3 when I'm on the road for a long time.
Great review. Thank you
HTC one for those speakers and coz I get a better resale.. In my country no 1 buys an lg phone.. Except for the nexus.. But the nexus 5 has camera issues.. HTC one for me..
i bought htc one in your country :)
oops lg g2 sorry :D
HTC ONE is still a straight up awesome phone. Best build quality for any phone!!
