As a kid in N Ireland I loved helicopters from the Bell 47 to the Lynx but the Wessex was king of them all I don't miss the war but I do miss the choppers.
Brilliant chopper for either front line troop deployment or supplying troops with various support. They should have continued the workhorse which meant so much for the ground troops.........
I preferred flying in a Wessex rather than Puma, the Pilots were inclined to be more careful with a Wessex. My greatest memory was flying across Hong Kong harbour at dusk with all the doors open, fantastic sight...
@@compaq609 Yes, that’s what I meant.. I was based in Stanley Fort we used choppers every time we needed to get to the New Territories quickly.. We didn’t care about safety either, being in my early 20s...Yahoo.
I'm in this clip, I'm the crewman/winchman. And my wife is in the crowd! It's great to see the old Sqn again!

How about Westland wasp? Is it good too?
These helicopters were a part of my childhood growing up in Ulster. Noisy buggers, you could hear them two miles away

One door open I fancy. On the starboard side plus the cockpit windows.
