    Fantastic group with the liberty rounds!! How is the recoil with your gun?

      I wasn't really concentrating on that, here.
      I'd have to shoot in succession (and will be) to really give thought to comparing them to something like Hornady or Underwood.
      The Liberty is plenty powerful, imo and I don't think it's all that much lighter recoil, but perhaps just a bit with the lighter bullet? Probably not.
      They are exactly what I want in the chamber and 1st 2-3 rounds in magazine...and follow with the G9, and then some other rounds that go deeper.
      This gun has quite a bit more recoil than the 5.6" ported model. I need to take them both and shoot to compare side-by-side.
      I know when I shoot the 10mm AFTER shooting the M&P 5.7, it's quite a difference. I probably should begin the range sessions with these, rather than I typically do the other way around.

      @@ShastaBean yah makes sense and yes! Start with the 10mm! Hahahha.

    I'm confused, is the G2 RIP 9mm?

    • @ShastaBean

      It's wild how so many advise against using because of their name...when in reality it should be instead because of how they are so underpowered.
      I like how they perform terminally and wouldn't hesitate to use whatever something is named if it makes a difference in surviving an attack. But not going to sacrifice 50% power.

      @ShastaBean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see the 9mm version is actually more decent in terms of power than this 10mm. Says 1250 fps with 92 gr, so 319 ft-lbs. I would consider giving it a try, but given how poorly the Telos cycled, and I also now have some Overwatch for 9mm to test, I'll hold off on the RIP, for now.

  • @triggerbarPhD
    @triggerbarPhD 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    And that rip is horrible! Even for 9mm!

      The only argument I can see to carry some of these is to have a gun that is far easier to handle...but then why carry a 10?
      Maybe if doing a partial magazine?
      If it was 550 ft-lbs, then I'd be way more interested. I admittedly didn't really check the ft-lbs before buying a box. Oh well.
      Or I figured it was like the 9mm. I think I saw where the 9mm is ~80% (~320/400 ft-lbs) energy, whereas now I see this 10mm is ~54%!! (380/700 ft-lbs). If it were 80%, then = 550.
      I do have an appreciation for 6" of multiple wounds for making a threat stop. Makes me think of why a shotgun is effective...but different, of course.

      @@ShastaBean yah that makes sense. I’m learning more too about that and at the very least it’s a bigger energy dump faster.

      @@triggerbarPhDWelcome to the dark-side. haha!
      I'm going to stagger/mix the magazine on everything I carry. I think it's very clear there are tradeoffs when it comes to where/how damage gets done to a threat.
      It's basically either fast & early, or heavy & deep, with some loads having a bit of characteristics of both - but they still come at the expense of each other.
      Everyone seems to want it out of a single round, but I ask "why?".
      It's widely accepted that handguns fall short when it comes to stopping a threat, quickly. So then I have to wonder if it is because of people wanting penetration to be so deep - or choosing the more lethal one over the better stopper.
      What has really done it for me, is seeing the gel blocks with light/fast rounds get lifted off of the table WAY higher with the "energy-dump" rounds. Just compare my .308 vids to Gold Dot or Critical Defense. Easy to see. Can even see it with 10mm Overwatch vs. something that goes 18" deep. It's like triple the height, or more.
      Maybe it's the use of deep penetration rounds that causes people to acknowledge they can't tell much difference between 1 caliber to the next. So, .38 wounds like 9mm looks like .40 looks like .45 looks like .357, etc. Well when the load changes to the lighter "dumping" rounds, I feel you can very much see a difference, then. So. yah.

      @@ShastaBean very well could be and the liberty is approaching rifle round speed too in 10mm. The other thing I worry about with stacking is if I need to take a long shot. Rounds can really shift with POA/POI with those weights so another thing for testing and perhaps remembering if you’re in a gun fight.

      @@triggerbarPhD definitely good points. That's the big part of what I was checking with these - is where do they hit? I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't distinguishable, for me. Even the last 2 groups in this vid are the same ammo, but shows me hitting over 1" lower in the 2nd group - for whatever reason. If different ammo, we'd think that's the ammo. But it's not. lol
      Longer shots, yes & yes. Especially if drop comes into the scene.
      The other biggie is whether one type will cycle the next. Does a fired RIP round have what it takes to cycle a 200 gr Underwood round? hmmm. I'll be doing the magazine load out in sequence at my next range visit. I've had good success with the M&P since polishing and mag-spring. Still might do the recoil spring, but haven't seen the failures to justify any more variable change.
