    This is a throwback car .. not necessarily a bad thing. In the years ahead there will still be a huge subset of buyers looking to keep their vehicles less about technology / electrification etc. and more about the ICE driving experience. This fills that bill. Great review !

      I agree that this car should hold onto being a V8 without any EV wizardry, it makes it a unique offering. The issue is that it's more like a 90K car, so paying 120K seems downright insane. To me this is like buying a Hellcat, you have to love the engine and exhaust note so much you're willing to overlook all its shortcomings.

    The F-Type is my favorite car of all time. I’d get one in British racing green with a tan interior. I agree with you that everything else nowadays is just better. But the F-Type is special and charming. At $115k, it’s quite expensive, but a used one in the $50k-$70k region is a bargain in my opinion.

    Completely agree with you regarding the black interior trim. Most F-Types do come with a really nice color contrasting interior that are pretty nice. Though the 911 does set the bar very high, they have turned into the white male's Harley Davidson of the 1990's. It is no secret that the 911 has become the trophy wife of the middle aged man; no fault of Porsche. The F-type was such a breath of fresh air, hope Jaguar can deliver with their new models as unlikely as that may be. Ian Callum's original F-Type, not the exterior refresh version, will be a timeless classic.

    • @dlj1285
      @dlj1285 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trophy wife of the middle aged man…lol…Yeah, these cars are fast becoming status symbols first, and then good sports cars behind that. Just seems to be the way it’s going. I, as a middle aged man, also always saw myself in a 911 once I had the ability to purchase. That time came and I decided they were not for me. Great cars, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t like the purchasing conditions around these cars these days. Add to this that they aren’t that exciting, and the fact that they don’t sound very good (vacuum cleaner), yeah…I’m not looking for a status symbol trophy wife, I’m looking for value for money that rings my bell. An F-type R is a far more interesting car in my books.

    Where were you when I was looking for your review 6 months ago of an F-Type before I purchased a 2017 R? But I LOVE it!! I agree it's probably not as refined as a german, but the style and brute power / sound is what got me. The limits of handling can't reasonably be exceeded on the street and I consider it more of a GT. I call it a Viper that went to University. But for pure fun...I keep my miata right next to it.

    As a fan of the Jaguar, that lives just a couple of miles from the factory, I agree about the black interior. Also, the screen works better in right hand drive. You can change the color to match your own choice, just talk to the dealer. As for the airconditioning, the squeak goes after a while. Old school superchargers beat turbo and hybrid engines, and this draws so much attention. Also, there are much more comfortable chair choices.
    Just saying.

    As an F-type driver I don't find myself lusting after the facelift. The V8 sound is very muted compared to older models due to regulations. The interior has no interesting changes, the digital tachometer looks horrible. And the front while beeing more in line with other jaguars looks flat and I think the older model looks better. If I would go for another F-type after the V8s, I would much rather get the SVR

    I completely agree on the materials, Jaguar is sadly suffering from the Ford mentally. My only other complainat is that shutline, it reminds me of the F01 7-series & its awful hood shutline.
    Given Jaguar's new direction, I think the F-type will be the last of its kind.

    Exactly my thoughts. the styling and powertrains are timeless, but the interior fit/finish and tech were honestly old even when this car first came out 10 years ago, let alone in today's market. While $105K isn't exactly too much for the market that Jaguar wants to be in, but there are just way too many competitions in this price range with an out-of-date product.

    • @MotoManTV
      @MotoManTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are the differing types of linear motion. Think about how the weight of a car can shift based on your steering input, speed, road type, brake input, etc.. That would translate to the following:
      1. ) Rear end of the car would 'squat' under hard acceleration.
      2.) Nose of the car would 'dive' under hard braking.
      3.) Depending on your steering input and speed, the car could 'pitch' to one side.

      I agree. I sat in the F-type R recently at a dealer and thought the interior was fine. More than fine. The sound and looks of this car more than make up for any problems someone might have about the interior in my view. I don’t have any issues with the interior myself, but that’s just me. The style of it certainly suits me better than the boy racer interior of a C8. Also, C8s have a lot of fit and finish problems…Porsche is damn near perfect in that regard, but C8s not even close. As for talking about the black interior…Stuff like that is so subjective and to taste, it’s almost ridiculous even making it a point in any serious review. Bit silly. Porsches of late, lots of rattles in them as well, and they sound like vacuum cleaners in comparison. An LC500 over this car? Yeah, if you like slow cars.

To many lines going in different directions. How could GM mess up a mid-engine layout. Terrible design by the people who designed the rear of the C7. Period.

    I wonder how jaguar thinks to survive by only doing electric cars.
    Imho they should squeeze all the jaguar brand power by doing only super luxury v8/v12, Less numbers, bigger mark up.
    And make a whole new brand for electric only, as we seen that evey ev startup is worth as much as ferrari before even sell a single car (like that "scam" called rivian).
    By making jaguar electric they'll just destroy an historical name.
